Here are this week's key debuts. Now 49 (UMe) 90-95kToni Braxton & Babyface (Motown) 55-60kBroken Bells (Columbia) 40-45kLittle Mix (Columbia) 35-40kSpeaking of Toni and Babyface, the pair are running a veritable gauntlet of TV appearances promoting their Motown duet album, following this morning's Good Morning America appearance with a Braxton Family Values segment tomorrow night, another GMA spot and a Live With Kelly and Michael appearance on Friday, a 2/11 Conan look and more Family Values (include the season finale), among other broadcast opportunities. I used to collect the 'Now' discs but stopped about 15 discs ago because I found it to be repetitive to what I already had downloaded from itunes by the time of each release.
There is clearly still a strong market for these though

I wonder how much the Bruno Mars albums are going to sell. Unorthodox Jukebox just jumped back to the number 1 spot on itunes. Also despite some of the mixed reviews, I'm really liking the Broken Bells new one.

So I'm thinking the top 3 is Now 49, Frozen and Unorthodox Jukebox...in that order.

I also thought that Little Mix would have sold slightly more than that.

'Frozen' vs. 'Now 49' for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart Next WeekThe top of the Billboard 200 chart has been unusually heavy on soundtracks and compilations lately, and next week will be no exception. The new "Now 49" compilation album is heading for a high debut -- possibly No. 1 -- so suggest industry forecasters. The album may sell around 90,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Feb. 9.That might be enough to bump Disney's "Frozen" soundtrack out of the top slot, where it has resided for four nonconsecutive weeks. (It topped the list this past week, selling 94,000 in the week ending Feb. 2, according to Nielsen SoundScan.) The "Frozen" soundtrack has reigned at No. 1 for the past two consecutive frames, ahead of the runner-up title: the compilation "2014 Grammy Nominees." The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Feb. 12. All 48 of the regular (numbered) "Now" albums have reached the top 10, and all but the first debuted in the top 10. The last "Now" set, "Now 48," debuted at No. 3 with 114,000 sold in November. If "Frozen" spends a fifth week at No. 1, it will be the longest-running No. 1 soundtrack since "Waiting to Exhale" spent five weeks atop the tally in early 1996. Other albums heading for a high debut on the Billboard 200 next week include: Toni Braxton and Babyface's "Love, Marriage & Divorce" (maybe 55,000), Broken Bells' "After the Disco" (around 40,000) and Little Mix's "Salute" (35,000 to 40,000).

Not pleased with this 55k for Toni. I was hoping for a 75k+ debut I'm betting Toni/Babyface should hold well next week - it's the prelude to Val Day. I think this will be a consistent seller.

Ok, it looks like maybe one more week for Frozen at the top. I don't have anything against the soundtrack but can't wait for a change at the top. Thank goodness it looks like Eric Church's The Outsider is going to come on strong as it's already at top 10 itunes in pre orders. I think he brings something a little different and interesting to country music.

Frozen could keep Now for the No. 1 spot- wouldn't be a surprise, given how it's performed thus far.
The only Now albums I have are the first three holiday compilations.

YOUR TOP 15: Once again, the Frozen soundtrack is poised to challenge the current leader on the next HITS Album Sales Chart. At midweek, the latest in the Now series, #49, still has the edgeβbut its margin has dwindled significantly since yesterday. Hot on the heels of his Super Bowl half-time performance, Bruno Mars will likely see both of his albums land in the Top 10. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: 1. Now 49 (UMe) 80-85k 2. Frozen (Walt Disney) 75-80k 3. Bruno Mars Unorthodox Jukebox (Atlantic) 65-70k 4. Toni Braxton & Babyface (Motown) 50-55k 5. Broken Bells (Columbia) 40-45k 6. Little Mix (Columbia) 35-40k 7. Lorde (Lava/Republic) 30-35k 8. 2014 Grammy Nominees (Atlantic) 30-35k 9. BeyoncΓ© (Columbia) 30-35k 10. Bruno Mars Doo-Wops & Hooligans (New Elektra) 24-27k 11. Imagine Dragons (KindinaKorner/Interscope) 22-25k 12. Katy Perry (Capitol) 21-24k 13. Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 16-18k 14. Kidz Bop Kids (Razor & Tie) 15-17k 15. Casting Crowns (Provident) 14-16k Speaking of frozen, has the horrific weather across much of the nation put a deeper chill on physical sales? Stay tuned. (2/6p)

If Urban radio could be bothered to support Toni & Babyface, their numbers would be much higher.

Why would anyone think Toni and Babyface would open that much higher? Neither of them have really sold that well recently and their single only got a lot of play at UAC. Which I don't agree with. Mainstream Urban should have given this a lot more love. Are they just as ageist as Top 40?

"Hurt You" sounds nothing like what's being played on Urban radio right now, so ageism is completely irrelevant. The format is very rap dominated right now, and most of the R&B songs that are successful there have production similar to the rap songs. There are a couple of exceptions breaking through right now ("Happy" and "All Of Me"), but they're actually being marketed to the format and are moving a lot of singles.

It's true that a number of core Urban AC acts, who happen to be older, don't get much love at mainstream urban- take Anita Baker. But, it's also because that style, as noted, doesn't really fit in with the sonic landscape of mainstream urban radio.
The projected opening for Babyface/Braxton isn't bad.

That's one of the few songs that broke through Urban radio this past year, despite its current Hip Hop/Trap Music style over the past 2yrs. What he said is still accurate.

HITS says the gap is dwindling. Weekend movie sales should help close that gap further
