I agree. Every song on this album deserves to be a top 10 hit, but if the most radio-friendly song on the album can't go top 30 as a 4th single, then there is no way a 5th single would do much better. As much as I'd love "Silver Lining" or "Step Off" to get a release, it shouldn't happen. Kacey will have a ton of buzz around her lead single for her next album regardless, but its probably best to stop trying with singles from this era now even if that means waiting several months for the new lead single since Kacey still has a lot of work to do for her next album.
I'd love for this to keep going and eventually turn into the hit it deserves to be, but it just doesn't look like its happening.

It's a shame this is floundering since I've started hearing it a fair bit on the radio lately (mostly at off hours, but it's still been a treat). I wish it were doing a lot better. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I was hoping this would do at least as well as "Blowin' Smoke" did. Random, but I also heard "Follow Your Arrow" on radio for the first time yesterday on a small town station when I was headed to the Missouri State Fair to see Sara Evans. <3

This song is not done just yet: a new spin peak today. Three weeks later: yet another spin speak.

Yep, she just announced a "Same Tour Different Trailer" mini-tour that takes her through the end of October (sadly, it's mostly in southern venues), so there are certainly no immediate plans to release a totally new album. I do, however, think there is value in taking a rest. Why does everyone have to have a single available to radio at all times?

Because the charts move SO slow! Which is why more artists should take longer breaks from radio. They move slow because everyone just keeps releasing new songs, and it gets to be too much.

Not to mention, some artists I tend to get sick of of they are overplayed and a radio break would help, imo. I think Kacey should tour for a little while & take her time with her follow-up. With all the critical acclaim she got with Same Trailer, she shouldn't be in a hurry or feel pressured to rush anything out. It's not like she has a ton of radio momentum at risk. Not to derail the topic, but I like the way Carrie is playing her break. Make them miss you.

I saw Kacey open for Katy Perry on Thursday and she is just so fantastic. Definitely an odd venture for her right now, but the crowd (which were mostly little girls with their moms) seemed into her for the most part. I was surprised she didn't include KITY in the setlist as it's probably her most "pop" sounding song, but she was still really, really good!

Well this song dropped one to #35 this week, so unless there's a big push for it in time for next week it may potentially not make Top 30 which is a shame because this is one of the better songs off the album (next to "Silver Lining"). They need to think about a fifth single quick or get a single off the new record ready before she loses steam all together; which would be a shame because I've always liked Kacey. Not a big fan of "Blowing Smoke" and "Follow Your Arrow" though, I think they should have made those the 3rd & 4th or 4th & 5th singles and released this one third with Silver Linings second.

This also had a sharp drop in spins and AI in today's update. I wouldn't be surprised to see it removed from the Billboard chart tonight. It's disappointing, but this has hung on for a long time since peaking at #32 on Billboard a few weeks ago.

The chart run for this one has just been so strange, and while it's a shame that this never took off because I love it, it isn't going anywhere really so I suppose seeing it's run finally come to an end isn't surprising. I guess all things considered it didn't do too bad since it out-performed "Follow Your Arrow." I'm looking forward to new music from her though.

She's mentioned the possibility of a fifth single, but I really don't see anything outpeaking "Keep It To Yourself" (though I selfishly would love "My House" to be a single, I doubt it'd do anything for her, career-wise). I think it's in her best interest to take a bit of a break from radio, and then come back with a strong lead single early next year.

This lost its bullet on Billboard last night but they gave it a grace week.
And now things are getting even stranger from here. KITY gained 49 spins and 46k on Mediabase today, an update certainly not indicative of a song heading into free-fall mode (which I thought would for sure happen). It's still at a -57 bullet, but its net spin loss for Billboard last week was -183, and its bullet was at -167 on Mediabase yesterday.
This might not be done just yet..

I put my hands up with even trying to predict the future of this song about a month ago when I thought then it was done, but obviously I was mistaken. It's so odd that the bottom has taken forever to fall out on this (but like you said, it had a very small recovery today), yet it hasn't gained any momentum. It's just been sitting idle really in the 30's on both MB and Billboard almost like the single's enjoying it's stay there so much it decided to set up shop and stay for a while, lol That being said; I'm going to say that "KITY" is about done. It's total audience lost on MB from Sunday is still -.338 and I just can't envision Kacey getting to stay on BB by next Monday and keeping her bullet on MB by Sunday after the numbers it put up on MB and BB's weekly issued updates. Not to mention it's going on week #24. We'll see though. One thing's for sure is that it ain't over til it really is over.

I'll be watching to see how Katy's audience responds to Kacey. When I saw her with Lady Antebellum the crowd was pretty lame for her (we were the only ones standing in practically the entire floor section), but I thought she did a great job. I'm curious to see if/how her stage presence has improved since teaming up with Katy.

The crowd was very lame for her, but like I said it was mostly little girls with their moms. My two friends and I had floor seats to the right of the catwalk and stood the entire time and Kacey definitely noticed us on plenty of occasions. The crowd did go nuts for These Boots Were Made For Walking, though! lol. Whatever it was still a blast and she's so great.

"Keep It To Yourself" is down 114 spins now on the rolling chart even though her audience broke even today. But her audience lost is till nearly .400 since Sunday afternoon. I expect this to be sent recurrent on Billboard and to officially lose it's bullet on MB this Sunday.

Not so fast, sabre14! Kacey gained a whopping 61 spins and 357k in today's MB update--this song is clearly not done. Honestly, as crazy as this chart run has been, it makes sense to me that Mercury would stick with it for as long as they can. Kacey's album is still selling quite well despite the (so far) less-than-stellar traction she's gotten at radio, so one might assume that there's a lot for them to gain IF a song catches on and sticks and starts to move up the charts in a big way. I know this has been out a large number of weeks, but sometimes it's just about waiting for the song to slip through the cracks. I am not saying this will go #1 or even top 20, but I still think it has life left in it.

I still doubt this song will get any higher than it already has gotten, but this is easily the weirdest chart run I've seen the past two to three years. I know Mercury wants to desperately to stick with this as long as possible. It's album is still selling well like you said and this is the final single from the album. But I still question how long country radio wants to stick with this song. I wonder how much time and money have already been put into promotion for "Keep It To Yourself"? It had a very promising start, then it just got stuck in the 30's and could never quite claw it's way out with the crazy summertime we've had on the charts. Obviously you're absolutely right on it not being done, as it basically made up all the audience it lost since Sunday morning in one day and Mercury will fight for airplay with this. I say this might last a couple more weeks at most then fall off. I just can't envision country radio deciding to stick with this, but judging by the way this song has continued to hang on, I'll definitely give it another chance to see what magic (if any) Mercury can pull off.

She's been hovering in the 30s for ages. IMO letting it linger on the charts in this fashion is sort of radio's consolation prize that they like her some, and don't want to be accused of not playing her.
Even though they don't really like her material enough for big mainstream radio play. Or something.

Yeah, she has a lot of love and respect; but they are probably looking for something less country, more upbeat and more party like perhaps for country mainstream radio. Since she is a woman and all the requirements are stricter of course. Even 'Girl In a Country Song', although 'rebellious', has a more upbeat sound with ebullient production. I am with those that think she should ride it out (as Mercury may be doing) until she comes back with something from new material.....which knowing Kacey will not be a cop out by any means. But it may fulfill some of the above mainstream country radio 'want list' items in sound/theme.

And now another almost flat update today, lol. Up 8 spins but down 150k in audience. Although this could have something to do with Tim's huge 1.1 mil gain and of course Blake's big gains as well. I think this can re-bullet on Monday's Billboard chart, but it's going to be close.

Okay, I can safely say that "Keep It To Yourself" is in fact finished. She took a pretty big hit in her audience yesterday and today the bottom fell out with her spins. She's down 188 total spins on the MB rolling chart and she's lost over 1.3 million in audience since Sunday. I said 8 days ago that Kacey was done, and other than those couple days where she regained her lost audience and held it, she's really been treading water for quite a while. Mercury obviously tried to keep this alive for as long as possible but radio just wasn't going to play along forever.
This is most certainly to me the final single from Kacey's wonderful album, and a lead from her sophomore major label album will be the next single to hit radio.

I thought I read that they were considering a 5th single. Anyway, KITY is definitely done, although half of its audience loss on Mediabase this week has come from a drop in spins at Westwood One's Mainstream Country (a satellite, MB-only station). But she's lost enough total spins and she'll lose enough audience as well, and KITY will be sent recurrent on Billboard on Tuesday.

I understand there was talk of another single, but there's a difference between speculation and it actually happening. None of us no for sure when or what Kacey's lead single will be or go for adds, but even if Mercury's not ready to release new music, I don't feel sending out a fifth single after a single that failed to reach top 30 (for well over 20 weeks) and that followed by one that failed top 40 on airplay is in their best interest. I understand that her album has sold very well considering the lack of airplay success from the singles off of it, but the reason labels send multiple singles to radio, is to help sales of said album and the sales of whatever song is that single. Her albums been out for a long, long time now. Anybody who wants the album probably would have bought it by now and the song (IMO and surely Mercury's) would not fair any better than "Keep It To Yourself" did at radio so the single sales would only go so far. Is there a slight possibility that Mercury says what the hey and tosses another song at radio and is unconcerned about the cost of promoting it because they would like to cater to the wishes of Kacey? Sure, anythings possible in this business. But I think Mercury will look at the situation and say, enough is enough and let's comeback strong with a lead.

Patrick Knight @patknightradio I think it's criminal that @kaceymusgraves' song #KeepItToYourself isn't played more often. Such a fantastic song...

I think it's smart to make this the final single, but based on what she was saying earlier, I wouldn't be so sure. I do agree that this looks finished (but I think I've said this about five other times for this song, haha).
