how can that possibly be entitled "video of the year?" lol. I mean the GUY parts were cool and all, but I wouldn't call anything of the video "brilliant" like some are saying. What's so brilliant about it? But of course, as usual on Pulse, i'll be ridiculed as a Katy stan who is a hater. But really. The first part was boring. The GUY part was cool, but nothing with a wow factor. It was good, above average, of course, but nothing groundbreaking or anything. The comments suggested otherwise. I thought I was going to see the next Telephone. Clearly not. And 4+ minutes of credits? Who does that? That's absurd and totally unnecessary. Who is going to sit thru all of that twice? I mean, it's cool and all that she actually gives a f**k to actually promote something and not be MIA, but this isn't the Mariah Carey comeback or anything. This just seems like a side piece. Which is fine. At least she is doing something. It's going to spark enough interest in her as an artist to keep her going, but as a relaunch I wouldn't hold my breath. But it is good enough to warrant general interest in her for her next album. the credits thing was just soooo unnecessary. They picked the right cast of Housewives, obviously, but that didn't work either. It was weird seeing Kim singing Gaga lyrics, lol. Kyle and Lisa fit in tho. Applause beats this video by a landslide for me. Not even close. I don't want to sound ignorant, but seriously. You have your opinion which I respect. The only thing I don't understand is this "damn if you do, damn if you don't" attitude (thx Kacey). Don't matter what she does you'll be one of those posters who come back regularly to complain. Are you sure that you have to watch the credits? Are you chained in your chair or what? Then again why exactly should she do everything like the others do it? Because you say so? Great. The main role of this single will be to make the title ARTPOP marketable and they'll spend their money on that because they plan to release a sequel, you know. With the same title. They clearly plan to promote this for awhile attempting to revive the interest and the hype. If they succeed at that - I'll be happy. If they fail - I'll be happy that I got a superb music video. Don't hold your breath for Mariahesque comebacks, I haven't seen anybody expecting that. Kisses.

I love the video, the whole thing. Some scenes are super gorgeous, and she looks fantastic. I also like the songs she picked for the vid, especially Venus which is probably my fav from the album.

Especially since you said the GUY part (the actual video) was cool?

I actually like the credits and that she releases credits in one way or another for a lot of her videos. For someone who is criticized for stealing and copying and not giving credit, she sure does make sure a lot of the people are credited who create her looks or inspire her or act in her videos. I liked that these had a sense of humor too lol. Will I ever sit through it again? Nope, but thankfully my browser has an X on it.

I think it's good she put them. All videos should have them, really. Just like a movie or a TV show, if you don't want to watch them, don't. But this way they are clearly getting credit and acknowledgement.

ARTPOP finally discounted to 9.99$. It's #95 right now, not bad counting in the new releases.

They really are pushing this album again. Front page on iTunes (Canada) again complete with a front page ad.

Good to see they finally discounted it below the lofty $11.99 price point it was still sitting at last night.

I wonder if there will be a significant gain for the album this week then? Other than the week of Black Friday, the album hasn't been priced this low before, has it? And with full promo for the album and single (which may or may not do well), the album could see a lofty jump for a week or two, at least back into the Top 50 maybe.

By the way, I was watching "Empire" and I got a VEVO ad saying "watch next the video that everyone is talking about." After Empire it automatically played "GUY." Most people are watching "Empire" for the first time, so they will most likely watch it to the end. Making GUY play after "Empire" automatically is pretty smart.

I really hope "G.U.Y." will help the album. I'm not expecting an album-saver out of it, but that's not impossible. I feel like people were really turned off from Gaga with "Born This Way," too, but came back around when "The Edge of Glory" and "You and I" were released. Of course, "Applause" is a lot better than "BTW," so I'm surprised she's been struggling.
"G.U.Y." is one of the best left on the album. Still mystified "Do What U Want" didn't take off. That seemed like a no-brainer hit.

If G.U.Y. ends up being a hit somehow, I think it opens up possibilities of what future singles could be other than Gypsy. Songs like Fashion, or Venus or something.

If there's the possibility for one other single this era, I'd vouch for MANiCURE.

I have no idea why they're wasting their time and money trying to reignite this dead-in-the-water project. It's great that she believes in it that much, but call a spade a fucking shovel and move forward.

She is trying so hard to stay relevant
I think this obvious statement applies to all pop artists, right? I would be upset if she wasn't trying to stay relevant. POP music=relevant.
