First judgement: his most interesting song. I don't even think I'll mind once radio inevitably overkills it. I can admit that this does NOT sound like an Ed Sheeran song Spoken like someone who only knows "The A Team" and "Lego House." His "rapping" was his trademark before he broke out with an acoustic coffeehouse label attached to him. Can't blame him one bit for bringing the Jason Mraz flow back on his lead single in attempts to shed that pigeonhole.

I can admit that this does NOT sound like an Ed Sheeran song, but it just... WORKS. Love it! So you have never heard about this: shame. Nevermind, I like it on the first listen. :)

Smash. Givng me JT/Pharell vibes. Speaking of which, wonder if this will hinder the next Pharell single? I don't see this song interfering with "Marilyn Monroe," but they both definitely sound like leftovers from "Justified." How funny would it be if that sound came back? White boys with soul are slaying right now.. Sam Smith, JT and this new Ed Sheeran single. I generally like these type of male singers anywas so I'm all for that.

As someone that unabashedly loves that pigeonhole, I will say that I'm glad that he chose to go with something that had some rapping in it for his lead single. I don't want someone as taleneted as Ed Sheeran getting labeled as a coffeehouse crooner when he does so much more.

Definitely would make him stand out as more than "that ginger who sang "The A Team" which everyone fell for in the first place". Personally, I like versatility in an artist, so this should do WONDERS for him. Plus those radio updates make it even more evident that there's SOMETHING going on.

Pretty clear that Clear Channel's really pushing this. A bunch of them just added this from what I saw.
51 adds for this song, most added.

This is perfect! So fun, and when you combine Pharrell's amazing production and Ed's beautifully fragile yet powerful voice and guitar playing! This MUST SMASH!!!!

I actually think it's his best song yet. I was not here for him last era because I felt that he was a little too slow tempo for my taste.
But with this, Ed surprised me! The production, his voice, and his guitar on this song is just superb. I'm thinking that it'll probably become his biggest hit yet.

Second (and third) listen. This is going to be massive. It has everything his singles have been missing and it really reminds me of "You Need Me, I Don't Need You". I need time to decide which one is better. Nice job Pharrell. Go Ed!

His gamble is clearly paying off. From the Billboard article the Program Directors are all over this and see it being a Top 10 guarantee and #1 possibility on the Hot 100.

Looks like this is going to be massive and the Pharrell domination will continue. That, unfortunately, begs the question: Is this going to be a hit on its own merits or because Pharrell is the current flavor of the moment?
