Early predictions have X debuting with 175-200k. Official prediction is #1 with 180-200k per HITS. + debuted at #5 with 42k (800k sold to date).

What kind of ****Flawless post?? It's like...we are the same person. Scary as fuq, tbqh. Yeah. I refuse to make excuses for someone I respected so much and who is capable of wringing human tears from a coldhearted, yet hopeless romantic, like me. All the signs of greatness evident in his debut should, by all rights, lead one to believe he was capable of even greater. I will also not settle for overwrought, overthought, but ultimately undercooked, from someone on his level. He shoulda stepped it up and raised the bar even higher. Instead, he chose to wallow in sub-par miasma that is beneath him. Does this mean I will run over his CD with a tractor trailer? Of course not. But, the fact that I'm not itching to repeat songs speaks volumes. What the hellโฆ :o I wouldnโt write this better myself. The tricky part about me is that all my favorite artists are either dead, or not active/interested in releasing music anymore. But the bar is set so high that only few modern-day acts can come even close to it. My currents favorites are: Jill Scott, Janelle Monae, Bruno Mars, and Ed Sheeran. The girls are always on point. They never disapointed me so far. But the boys are my two BIG surprises of recent years. I fell in love with Edโs debut album, it honestly never happened to me before. I always try to be careful w/ the 1st LPs, to not to get fooled with the first impression about a singer, but honestly this time I just couldnโt help it. This near-flawless album won me over w/ the first listen. I listened to it at least twice a day for several weeks still couldnโt get enough of itโฆ But it was ALL I had. With Bruno it was pretty much the opposite. I didnโt pay attention to him when his first album came out. I saw him as just another one season sensation, someone who would score 1 or 2 hits and then fades awayโฆ Things started to change when the Jukebox came out. My friend was pushing me to give this album a try, I didnโt want to. But after days of her bugging me about it I just gave up. When I listend to it for the very first time. I was totally speechless and blown away. It wasnโt even the fact that it was such a tight Pop record, or that itโs from the man of whom I thought of as the corny, and chessy as f*** crooner till then. But it was due to the fact it came out only 2 years after D-W&H: his debut, which I knew whether I liked i tor not since my friend was pretty much obsessed with it, and played it on every ociassion. I just didnโt see that coming from him at all. One would have to be extremely biased not to see his improvement. There he earned my respect and genuine interest in his future releasesโฆ Soโฆ I assumed that Ed will bring an absolutely stellar album 3yrs after debut. Since Bruno someone I was so indiffrent to when he debuted could grow so much, why couldnโt Ed?! Cโmon heโs the real deal! That was the attitude I had. I took it all for granted. I wondered HOW MUCH Ed will grow as an Artist not IF he will grow at allโฆ That was a mistake. It was a big blow for me when I listened to Xโฆ THIS IS A GOOD ALBUM, BUT THATโS IT. For me itโs an epitome of wasted potential. Donโt get me wrong. Iโm still rooting for him, and i hope this album will reach Platinum in the US. He really deserves to establish himself, and be sth more than a local sensation. But the truth is, this album may end up being my biggest disappointment of 2014โฆ

Early predictions have X debuting with 175-200k. That seems really low to me. He should be able to do 300k.

Of course not. He is not THAT big yet and his last album didn't even sell 1 million copies. Not sure why anyone would expect him to sell more than he is selling right now, especially in the current environment. It wouldn't surprise me if Ariana pulled similar numbers, even with Problem being so big. This isn't Coldplay or Eminem or Adele or Beyonce we're talking here.

I forget if it was established or not but is there a version of this album that isn't censored? The one I have is.

Nope. Only version is censored, which is kind of annoying.

Nope. Only version is censored, which is kind of annoying. He claimed on Twitter that he did that because a cabbie asked him to make the album appropriate for his young daughter. Makes a nice story, but a frustrating listen. HITS has raised the prediction to 190k-200www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi

Makes a nice story, but a frustrating listen. Because it would have been so hard for the cabbie or his daughter to get the censored version. Like you said, it's a nice story, but annoying from our perspective.

Yeah, releasing both a censored and uncensored version of an album is unheard of for a Pop artist. Not like he's a rapper!

Well, as annoyed as I am, that story confirms the fact that Ed is just an overall mensch so...I applaud him. I can live without the swears, at this point.
Oops. I put this album on at One and before I knew it, I had gone through the whole thing. I stand behind my assessment that the bonus tracks are among the best on the album, especially Shirtsleeves. I'm not quite sure why that and Even My Dad didn't make the final cut. However, this album is DEFINITELY a grower. My original opinion of One, which dropped, is now back again. That is the kind of song that made me fall hard for Ed. I can relate to pretty much every single lyric there. I'm A Mess has definitely risen in the ranks. I have also stopped being so cynical, which means I can appreciate Photograph, and Bloodstream is interesting. I like the "tell me when it kicks in" part, which is also high on the relatability scale for me. While I still prefer the debut, this album is definitely not a bad one. I will now give it a solid B. I hear a lot of effort in this album. It might not all work, but at least he is trying.

I can't believe people are not liking this album as much as +. I was/am obsessed with + and this album is so much better. I'm VERY picky about albums, especially from my favorite artists, and if I think they suck or not as good, I'll say it... this album has been in CONSTANT rotation ALL WEEK NON-STOP. I cannot get enough. The rapping is awesome as well.

^As I've already said it's a good album. But there's not enough musical growth as he should've and could've make 3yrs after the incredible + album which promised better and bigger things in the future.

I really like the album now. I don't think there's a song on the regular edition I dislike. (On the deluxe, I don't like Take It Back.) I don't know if I'd say I like it more than + though. While there were a few tracks from that album I didn't really like, I feel like that record was special because it was so charming and had a lot of personality from Ed where this one doesn't really open any new doors. Not that that's a bad thing but sometimes the fun of discovering and getting into a new artist is the novelty of it and that's something you can only get once. Although this is looking to finally give up the UK #1 (at least for this week), it's midweek sales are actually higher than they were at this point last week. Don't is also looking to give him another top 10 there this week and Thinking Out Loud is looking to be just outside.
I'm so glad he didn't go the way of some other UK breakthroughs where the the first album was a big hit and then the sophomore severely underperformed.

The album rises 6-3 in the UK and crosses 650k. With the holiday sales, this is probably going to be close to, or may actually pass a million in there by the end of the year.

x crossed the 800k mark in the UK during the current tracking week. It was around 791k last week and has already sold over 30k. Also, on my Taylor Swift ticket (fittingly), it says that there's going to be another North American tour in 2015 from him. He's also been tweeting that there's a big announcement coming on Monday, so it might be regarding that. And he's gonna launch a record label. m.rte.ie/ten/news/2014/1105/657144-lisa-kudrow/

The announcement was that the tour will conclude at Wembley Stadium in July...which means that US dates are probably going to be during May/June.

Grammy nominated for AOTY. My colleague called this one.
He also earned a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.
