I hate it when people complain about her doing this.
A) She writes about her experiences B) Relationships relate to everyone, so it's a smart plan to release songs like that anyways... C) She switches up the formula to keep it fresh, and I love that about her D) If you paid attention, she's written about other things (EX: Ronan) E) Many other artists do this, but no one calls them out on it (And why should they? It's not a big deal at all!)

Is the album expected to be released on Friday, 10/24 in Europe? I heard on twitter that a retailer in France is putting out the album on the 24th.

But, that's because most don't know who those other artists exes are, they're not blatantly case-in-point specific. But, I get her general point.

There are only a few songs that names names and are blatant (intentionally) about their muse in her catalog ("Dear John" for example). For the most part, fans and the media work overtime to link details together and target exactly who the song is written about to then gossip about it. I think if there is any difference between Taylor and other writers, it's that her muses tend to be other celebrities so there is naturally going to be more attention. Regardless, she shouldn't have to place limitations on her love life, just so that people won't criticize her writing.

I think if there is any difference between Taylor and other writers, it's that her muses tend to be other celebrities so there is naturally going to be more attention. Regardless, she shouldn't have to place limitations on her love life, just so that people won't criticize her writing. To add two examples in support of Taylor's position, I remember media/public wanting to believe "Confessions" was about Chilli even after Usher and JD both stated that it was based on an experience JD had, and some reviews being disappointed that Raymond v. Raymond (which he all but teased as being a divorce tell-all, especially with "Papers" being the lead single) wasn't nearly as personal. No one gave Justin s**t for heavily hinting at "Cry Me a River" being about Britney. I can't speak for Ed because I didn't even know he had dated Ellie, let alone written a song about it (and it's interesting to me now only because I really f**king hate "Don't" and now that hate has some added perspective). I suspect in the US at least, the public would have the same 'oh, didn't know that' reaction. But Taylor gets rocks thrown at her for writing about anyone even though she herself rarely states or even hints at who she is writing about. I'd say there's definitely a double standard there, assuaged only by the fact that she has so many fans that the detractors don't make a difference in the end. I understand that some people think Taylor purposely courts the criticism so she can flip it and play the victim card, so even if I disagree with that, this isn't a knock against those who just find her disingenuous or intentionally drawing attention to herself. It's a knock against those who find the mere concept of her writing and singing about her life experiences offensive. Getting mad at a singer/songwriter for what she chooses to sing and write about is just absurd, too absurd for me to be bothered about it though.

Lol do y'all really think Scott and Big Machine are allowing the record to be up for streaming a full week before the album officially hits stores? They were pretty much forced to put Red on spotify, months after its release.
The album will be streamed on Yahoo on the 27th. Welcome To New York (second promo single) will be available on Monday at midnight (reason she's posted two pictures of New York on her instagram today when she made the announcement.) Scott said yesterday she wanted to release one more song, and the reason it'll be "available everywhere" is because it's also being released in the UK this time because the song will finally be able to chart since the album is out the Monday after. There's no album stream. They'd never, ever, ever do that. Especially when a damn track list had to be leaked by her own fans and Taylor's even denying its legitimacy. Taylornation has claimed that the reason they're not releasing a track list is because "it prevents leaks" (lol). Mess.
Bring on the song.
This time next week though, y'all will know the lyrics to all the songs by heart. It's leaking on Thursday afternoon. We ain't ready.

I was really surprised to hear "Out Of The Woods" on Sirius XM yesterday. But, I have to say, it sounded damn good on the radio. They could easily make this a single. Hopefully they do.

Also, unlike other artists, for every album, Taylor actually leaves clues regarding who each track is about. This actually feeds the media and send them talking even more about her exes. Hence she just becomes well-known to even non-fans about her tendency to write about love life only. The choices of singles didn't help with that perception either.

Hence she just becomes well-known to even non-fans about her tendency to write about love life only. The choices of singles didn't help with that perception either. Those clues, for the most part, are vague at best and are for her fans. I've never even read an article that even mentioned those clues, so I doubt they are fueling or "feeding" the media. Only a selection of extremely invested fans are even able to stitch them together. 90% of every artist's material is about love in one form or another. Furthermore, she has written about topics other than her love life ("Long Live", "Change", "Ronan", "The Best Day", "Never Grow Up", "Eyes Open" etc), so she has nothing to prove to anyone in that regard. These people who wanna pick her apart because she writes about love are just reachhhhiinngg and tryiiinngg to find something negative to print about her to have some sort of angle, however flimsy, to bash her.

"Sad Beautiful Tragic" just might be my least favorite song she's ever recorded. I hope there's nothing similar to that.

Sonically the best I've heard from this album so far. She's really digging this repetition thing isn't she? I don't know, it's all just not lining up with me the way I thought it would, which may have been a dumb assumption since I've generally disliked all of her material, but most of the pop stuff on Red was just so good I thought I'd be more into what she served on this album. Oh well, she'll have no problem dominating the pop genre with or without my support. Hopefully the whole album has some hidden "Sad Beautiful Tragic" gems I can latch on to. My thoughts exactly. I've enjoyed some of Taylor's past Pop efforts, but these songs are doing nothing for me. The lack of ballads doesn't have me excited, either, because I think those are where Taylor really shines.

Just heard "Welcome To NewYork" in full... Not really a fan. Out of the Woods and Shake it Off are miles better.
