Mess.
Beyoncé should just break up with Pop radio and move on. It's not like she really needs it anymore by how high her career's going.

Might as well go with Blow at this point.

It's kind of sad, this album could have been a MONSTER. Could have dominated radio, could have sold way more records and could have absolutely swept all the awards. I just wonder how well it will be remembered come Grammy time. I'm sure she'll get nominations and a few wins won't surprise me, but with a solid bunch of hit songs, she would have been unstoppable.
Is it a hit? Yeah. Was it a big pop culture moment for her? Of course. But it could have been so much more. It's been handled so sloppily, by her record label and her. Hell, they're even dropping the ball at Urban, all they have to do is send a damn song, that's it. It would smash with no effort, but they're just sitting on their ass.
Ugh.

8 adds this week, so not too horrible.
Most added on Urban, with 30 adds.

I doubt very much that the record label only wanted shock factor. They want hit singles and maximized album sales. This album could be selling way better and there are so many hits that aren't going to see the light of day if they keep this up.
Beyonce doesn't seem to want anything outside of touring right now though, lol. Hard to really push an album when the artist has no desire to promote.

Right, so there's really nothing the label can do now apart from sending an "executive order" to the artiste, but lbr Beyonce's stature puts her above that.

Well, they can be more on point when it comes to sending singles. "DIL" and "Partition" peaked ages ago, meanwhile the album is tumbling down the charts. Give radio something to play. Oh yeah, and pick the right singles, lol.

Well, they can be more on point when it comes to picking and sending singles. "DIL" and "Partition" peaked ages ago, meanwhile the album is tumbling down the charts. Give radio something to play. Oh yeah, and pick the right singles, lol. Urban has never been shy about grabbing fruit from the basket before it's handed to them. If they felt like latching on to "***Flawless" or "Mine" right now they'd not be sat idle waiting for an adds date. As for Pop, why bother? They've made their lack of interest painfully clear already. Not to mention, pop radio and singles sales are tied so closely to social media and VEVO streams... and in Beyonce's case we're at the point in time where the concept of a visual album will backfire- there's no hot new video on its way to hype up. Every song on the album already has a visual that's old news at this point. I agree that this era should still feel like it's in the middle of its soaring heights, but all things considered, what can possibly be done? Apart from Beyonce doing a promo tour, which we all agree won't happen, it's chugging along as fine as can be expected.

Other than FMQB's removal of the adds date, what was the source claiming the pop release for this was pulled? Columbia's weekly email yesterday said it was "impacting now." Did something change in the past 24 hours?

You're correct, Urban does latch on to songs before they're given to them quite a bit, but that's not something that's going to sustain an album era. They may do it one or two times, but it's not going to keep happening. And it's not the record labels job to hope Urban picks it's own singles. "Rocket," "Mine," "Blow," etc. are Urban #1's just waiting to happen. So what does the label do? They send a pop track to Urban way too long after her last single peaked and pull the pop adds date for it. It makes NO sense whatsoever.
If Beyonce isn't going to promote, then fine. But they could at least have their radio strategy on point. Again, this album is already a hit, but it sucks that they're missing so many potential opportunities.

Urban loves Bey but I dont see Pretty Hurts doing anything but peaking outside the top 10 ala "Halo". If even that.

This is actually not looking so bad. A cumulative weekly bullet of +38? If that's not bad then what is?
