"Rebellion" isn't winning them any more Alternative spins. It looks to me like Linkin Park knew they were going to get dumped by Alternative based on its current state and don't really care. It's a pretty good song, I like it better than "Until It's Gone" but not as much as "Guilty All The Same."
If the rest of the album is like this, Until It's Gone might be the last LP song to get a Top 50 peak this era. No top 10 alt singles for a LP album seems so wrong.

Final Masquerade would work well as a single for both formats... I don't see anything else doing much really

"All For Nothing" was pretty good, "Rebellion" might work too. I also liked "Final Masquerade" a lot.

This song is ugly. I didn't care for "Guilty all The Same either.vAs it is I'm picky about the Linkin Park songs I like. "Burn It Down" was better. Guess we'll have to wait for the 3rd single?

I just started listening to the album and already it's pretty brutal. It's starting to sound like a middle finger to Alt.

I just started listening to the album and already it's pretty brutal. It's starting to sound like a middle finger to Alt. Which is exactly what the Alternative format needs right now. Linkin Park have always considered themselves to be Alternative Rock, and they are trying to show with this album that rock music needs to come back to the Alternative scene. Several members of the band have said that Alternative needs to lean rock again than pop, and I fully agree with them all. I wish Alternative would get the message that one of its core acts is trying to convey, but of course they're just going to kick then to the curb because this isn't pop music.

While I don't think this will make any sweeping changes across the format, it makes me happy to see that one of its core acts decided to create the music they wanted to make instead of just bending to the flavor of the past few years.

Can't believe I missed this post before. Linkin Park is one of the poppiest bands over the last 15 years. They've had more pop hits than these indie bands will ever get, and in their prime, their kind of music was considered pop-rock, just like how current indie stuff is considered pop-rock today. I think the band is being extremely hypocritical to be spewing all the crap they're preaching, and Lauren Mayberry from Chvrches is destroying them for it. Shinoda really needs to stop running his mouth. They're starting to make me regret having once called them my favourite band ever about 5 years ago.

Since then, they've been electro rock before back to alt metal with this album.

Since then, they've been electro rock before back to alt metal with this album. You're saying they never did anything poppy before then? Breaking the Habit, My December? They were outliers in the general frame of things. Every band releases a "poppy" song. Doesn't make them a poppy band.

You're saying they never did anything poppy before then? Breaking the Habit, My December? They were outliers in the general frame of things. Every band releases a "poppy" song. Doesn't make them a poppy band. Well in that case, Nickelback and 3 Doors Down aren't poppy either. Sounds ridiculous right? well that's the same deal with Linkin Park. Pop isn't a genre. The way it works is if your music appeals to the pop crowd, then it's pop music. In fact, this is their first studio album without a pop crossover. They've always been a pop appealing band. Therefore, its hypocritical for them to criticize current alternative bands who also appeal to the pop crowd.
