What an unfitting end to a great song. And I predicted a #6 peak on Alternative for this.

the peak for that is totally up in the air
I have a slight feeling it will be their saving grace
if not, it won't hit the top 40 at all

"Final Masquearade has definite radio appeal. It's a smart choice as next single. It's not bad and hopefully it goes top 10,but If you strip down the hard guitar and drums and add New Direction's lead vocalist; it would just be another pop song; melody-wise. I really don't understand why they saved the poppier, catchier song for third single when its clearly better than the previous two?

They want people to think that this album is the heaviest they've ever done without actually shelling out the heaviest songs as singles. And New Direction? The hell is that? New Edition? New Order? New Radicals?

The more I hear this and "Final Masquerade", the more I think how much of a mistake it was to send out "Guilty All the Same" first.

At this point I'm starting to think we care more about their Alt success than they do.

True, and they certainly did. It's probably too early to say but I'm curious as to what their next album will sound like, if they'll stay on their hard-rocking path or backtrack to a more Alt-friendly sound to regain their standing.

Unfortunately, Alternative didn't take too kindly to their statement and ended up with a third of the panel refusing to play either of their two singles, which sucks. :( Honestly at this point I'm hoping they backtrack to a more Alternative friendly sound, it would be upsetting to not hear a Linkin Park song on the local Alternative station.

New Direction= I make fun of these pop bands from time to time by purposly typing thier name incorrectly. I meant One Direction. whatever? they suck. Do we agree on that?
If its marketing stragety they are after ,then why not do what Nickelback did with thier last cds. Release the Pop Freindly ballad style songs to Pop and Hot AC and the more heavy songs as album cuts to mainstream Rock. and for the record, I stand by the fact that "Final Masquerade" has a pop edge to it melody-wise. o.k. I admit, the One Direction comparison was pushing it on my part, but I think this new song might even do well on AAA and HOT AC, just as "Burn It Down" and other of there songs have done. I'm sure some can agree on that?

Yeah, but it really did get sh1t audience numbers considering two-thirds of the panel were playing it. I think it's peak audience figure was about 2 million, give or take, which for lead single from one of the format's all-time most successful bands, really is awful. That's why "Guilty" flopped. Alternative listeners wanted nothing to do with it. I do think "Until It's Gone" would've faired better as the lead single, but even it's audience numbers were bad. I think that has alot to do with bigger markets passing on it after the GATS flop though.

At worst peaks at #3 on active and probably at #2. Not bad for a song that has deemed a flop by pretty much everyone on the thread for its underwhelming alt. performance.
Not sure what ya'll are smoking thinking Final Masquerade is more friendly for radio than this. If this didn't get it done, nothing will. That said, the whole album wasn't designed to be radio friendly (think A Thousand Suns redux) and Guilty All The Same was a big middle finger to radio in general. Too heavy for one, and not a good song in general for two.

I wasn't feeling Final Masquerade at first, but now I far prefer it to this.

this was almost a carbon Copy of "Burn It Down": which was good, but they didn't need to release another "Burn It Down" so soon. "Until It's Gone" was destined to flop.

I really liked this song and I don't know why considering the lyrics were terrible. I guess Chester's voice and delivery just makes it a lot better than it could've been.

I hope Chester just joins STP for good. Last year's STP songs were better than any Linkin Park songs this year.

Single-wise, I agree but "The Hunting Party" was a good album.

only 4 days at #1 for The Pretty Reckless. While the new Linkin Park song is generic, I like it better than Messed Up World. I wonder who else can slide into #1 before Nickelback probably gets there.

YES PRAISE THE LORD, IT BEAT PRETTY RECKLESS OUT TO #1
I don't care how generic the song may be, Chester's voice makes it good and it deserves to be #1 over Messed Up World.

Well I said two weeks for Pretty Reckless, but at least it went number one for one week. Didn't really care for this Linkin Park song.
