Back again at the halfway point of the year for the second quarterly countdown! Here are the top 50 songs from the second set of 13 weeks of my 2015 chart, not as close as last quarter but the songs at the top definitely deserve to be there. The July 1st chart will be posted most likely tomorrow, and then after that I'll post the mid-year Top 100 countdown in a similar post to what I did last year. Q2 2015 - Top 50 Songs [Covering charts from 4/8/15 - 7/1/15] | Song | Artist | | Don't Wanna Fight | Alabama Shakes | | Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf) | AWOLNATION | | King Kunta | Kendrick Lamar | | A Taste Of Silver | Until The Ribbon Breaks | | Hold Back The River | James Bay | | Clean | Big Data ft. So fun fact about this weeks chart. #'s 1 and 3 were flipped up until two days before I finalized the rankings. Moaning Lisa Smile spends a second week at #1, secured by my listening of Wolf Alice's debut album My Love Is Cool. Really enjoyed the album so expect several more charting songs into the fall months. Black Me Out sticks around at #2 and still has a shot at #1 but with Wolf Alice's renewed momentum the window is closing. The Wolf drops to #3 and likely won't have another chart at the top slot. I'm unsure if I'll have a second Mumford song chart, nothing from their album that I've heard so far has thrilled me but who knows, I never thought I'd chart one of their songs, let alone have it hit the top. Get Better holds at #4, and Let It Happen rebounds to the Top 5 to accommodate the increasing Currents hype. Future People rises three places and should give Alabama Shakes their second Top 5 hit next week. Big Dater remains at #7, likely set to peak there. X Ambassadors' Renegades is the first new Top 10 entry this week, and didn't even need an On The Verge deal to make it on my chart. Hold Back The River spends its likely last week in the Top 10. Finally, Beck's Dreams jumps 16 spots from #26 to #10, only the second song in chart history to make the Top 10 in its second week. It's making impressive chart gains and has a very strong chance to hit #1 in a few weeks.
Frank Turner's Positive Songs For Negative People is coming out at some point, but as long as he keeps releasing new songs I'll probably chart them. Actual lead single The Next Storm earns Hot Shot Debut honors at #67, and likely has a Top 10 peak in its future. An older Arctic Monkeys track I hadn't heard before makes its way in at #79. Crying Lightning is from Humbug, an album I have yet to listen to but have a strong interest in doing so. Wolf Alice finally notch their second song, as Giant Peach debuts at #83. Expect tracks like Bros, You're A Germ, and Your Loves Whore to all have runs of their own sometime soon. Slipknot leaves the one-hit wonder club as Killpop starts at #85. Custer wasn't my thing (though it was amusing) and The Negative One almost made the chart with a #5 Bubbling Under peak, but the current radio single is the song to crash through the blockade. Atlas Genius have a new album coming out, Inanimate Objects, and so their lead single Molecules (which needs to be better tagged on Spotify) enters at #88. Big Data continue their chart success, this time featuring Bear Hands on Sick For Me. I could still see up to three more songs making it from this album, but focusing on this one for now, it should be able to crack the Top 25. Arkells look to be ready for their first top 10 next week with Leather Jacket, and they're already moving a second song onto the ranks. 11:11 joins at #94 and should expect a slower climb. Finally, last week's Bubbling Under champ Elle King moves in at #98 with Ex's and Oh's, current AAA #1 and surefire Alternative and maybe even Pop crossover hit. This one is really catchy but I'm still not completely sold on it, so its next few weeks should be interesting to watch.
Little Monster reigns over the Recurrent chart for a sixth week, breaking the record which Royal Blood had held with Stolen Dance and R U Mine?. Carnivore reaches its 38th week on the chart and ties Big Data's Dangerous for the all-time longest chart run, probably the most prestigious chart record out there. It's sitting at #92, so a 39th week is a possibility. Kasabian's bumblebeee reaches the top of the Bubbling Under chart and should become the fourth main chart single from 48:13 as early as next week. Also this week I've posted the Top 50 songs of the 2nd Quarter of 2015, and the Top 100 songs of 2015 halfway through the year. Check those out if you wish, and I'll be back next weekend.

Working on the writeup for last week's chart right after this, but wanted to get this post up before I forgot about it. Here's the Top 100 through the first two quarters. This isn't that great of an indicator to which songs will end up at the top by the end, but there are a few indicators. It's not great to already be off the chart in July, as the lowest ranked song that wasn't charting at the midyear countdown in 2014 to make the full year end countdown was J. Cole and Miguel's Power Trip at #40. Not good news for George Ezra's Blame It On Me. Year-End #1 of 2014, Dangerous was sitting at #45 at the midpoint countdown, though I don't think Benjamin Booker's Violent Shiver (#45 this time around) will make it that far. That's all I've got, the long writeups, reflection, and pictures come at the end of the year. 2015 Year-End Top 100 (Through Q2) | Song | Artist | | Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf) | AWOLNATION | | A Taste Of Silver | Until The Ribbon Breaks | | Carnivore | Starset | | Weight Of Love | The Black Keys | | Don't Wanna Fight | Alabama Shakes | | Jackie and Wilson | Hozier | | Schism | Tool | | The Devil In I | Slipknot | | Lampshades On Fire | Modest Mouse | | Congregation | Foo Fighters | | Long Way Down | Robert DeLong | | Clean | Big Data ft. Wolf Alice spend their third week leading the chart. Moaning Lisa Smile holds off Black Me Out for a second straight week but should struggle to maintain that lead next chart. Frank Turner ties his highest ever chart peak as Get Better rises to #3. This track shouldn't outpeak Recovery to break that tie but with Turner's album on the way expect more tracks to attempt their own Top 10 peaks. The Wolf falls to #4 but has a chance to rebound a few positions next week. Future People becomes Alabama Shakes' second Top 5 hit, while Renegades gets a two position boost from the release of their debut album VHS. Beck's Dreams moves to #7 in only its third week on the chart and still has a strong chance to hit #1 soon. Let It Happen descends to #8 in its 8th week in the Top 10. If it lasts one more week in the top group it will join a elite selection of 24 other tracks to mark that mark. The only new Top 10 entry this week is Leather Jacket from Arkells, which would have hit the Top 10 last week if not for Beck's meteoric rise. Finally, Big Dater moves to #10, bulletless but with a satisfying peak achieved. Hot Shot Debut this week is reserved for X Ambassadors and their hot Nick Jonas remake in Gorgeous. It's already tied the Kanye West track of the same name's peak, and should move up far beyond that track in the weeks to come. Joywave charts a fifth track with Destruction at #72, hopefully this one can break the trend of diminishing returns Joywave has seen with their singles on my chart. A surprise entry comes from A Silent Film with Paralysed at #81. The only annoying thing about this song is how it is spelled, I've used "Paralyzed" for my whole life and that might be wrong but the fact that this song makes me doubt myself makes me uncomfortable. Alabama Shakes debut with the title track from their new album, Sound & Color is in at #86. Marilyn Manson joins with The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles, his second radio single from The Pale Emperor. Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge looks ready for a Top 10 entry and this might be a similar follow-up track. The collaboration between The Chemical Brothers and Q-Tip, Go, joins at #94. Block Rockin' Beats is a pretty nostalgic track for me and I'm glad these guys are still releasing quality material. Swans get an unconventional entry with Oxygen at #96. The song isn't really suited for a single, but I was intrigued by the band and To Be Kind, so this song charting is a representation of that. Shinedown earn their first charter as I slowly overcame the annoying kids in the background of the track and really got into Cut The Cord.
Kasabian's bumblebeee holds steady at #101, Bubbling Under right at the top. Little Monster holds for a seventh week at #1 on the Recurrent/Gold chart, and in its nine total weeks on the chart it hasn't charted lower than #2 there. In chart record news, the most prestigious chart record has fallen. Starset's Carnivore spends its 39th consecutive week on the chart, topping the mark from Big Data and Joywave's Dangerous that ended at the beginning of 2015. Sitting at #98, Starset will struggle to hit its 40th chart but breaking this record is a very impressive feat that will be remembered in the annals of time. Against Me! reach the summit of the chart with Black Me Out, the first #1 from an album not currently being promoted since Soul Coughing's Super Bon Bon back in October. Transgender Dysphoria Blues is only about a year and a half old but it's rare to get a track that would be considered a Recurrent or Gold track in the radio climate to #1 on my chart. The Wolf rebounds to #2 with an impressive move, but I don't expect them to spend any more time at the top of the chart. Beck's Dreams is slowly making its way through the Top 10 after its phenomenal debut. It should have a strong chance at grabbing #1 as early as next week. Moaning Lisa Smile collapses to fourth after an impressive three week stint leading the field. Future People holds at #5, as does Renegades at #6. Leather Jacket slides up two positions to #7 as old chart titans slip down the ranks. Get Better is one of those tracks, with the biggest drop within the Top 10 from 3 - 8. Unsteady is the only new track in the top group, giving X Ambassadors their second Top 10 hit. The last time an artist had two tracks in the Top 10 simultaneously was AWOLNATION in late May. Finally, Let It Happen sits at #10 in its 9th week in the Top 10.
This week's HSD has been in my head for the past few days. While Beartooth's In Between might not have the most mature lyrics, the transition between verse and chorus is pretty jarring and insanely catchy. Pop Evil finally debut with Footsteps at #81. This probably could have made it in a week or two earlier but I wanted to make sure I squeezed everything out of Onyx before officially moving on to Up. bumblebeee ascends from Bubbling Under #1 to a solid debut at #85. This could capitalize on stevie's somewhat stalled momentum. Lydia enters at #87 after I disregarded it on a first listen a few months ago. Highly Suspect's entry on the Alternative radio chart gave me another chance to listen to the song and here it is on the main chart. A band that just came back from a 15 year hiatus but that I'd never heard of until very recently join at #89, Refused offering Francafrique. The Arcs are a hyped side project from Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and some friends, and with Outta My Mind they get a shot on this chart at #92. Ex-Strut Albert Hammond Jr. sends Losing Touch into the shuffle at #96 and finally Robin Thicke gets a surprise entry at #98 with Morning Sun. He last charted with Give It 2 U around the beginning of this chart, though just missing in July 2014 with #104-peaking Get Her Back.
Against Me! reach #1 on another chart this week, with title track Transgender Dysphoria Blues snatching the Bubbling Under title. Chart titan, and arguably the most successful song of all-time on my chart Carnivore finally falls off this week after 39 long weeks charting. It obviously grabs the #1 Recurrent throne, halting Little Monster's tenure at 7 weeks atop that chart. With Royal Blood's current attempt to top the Billboard Active chart, the battle between these two tracks to hold the top of the chart should be interesting. That's week #76 in the books, expect the next chart in a few days since this writeup was so delayed.

Both Until the Ribbon Breaks' songs take big hits. :'( But cool to see "Goldfish" bubbling under. they both did get very solid runs on the chart, and A Taste Of Silver isn't close to done yet, it's the longest running song still on the chart and should at least grab 30 weeks and be among the all-time longest runs by the end of its run. As for your second point, stay tuned for this week's chart tonight.

Beck storms to #1 in just 5 weeks with Dreams. This marks Beck's second #1 on the chart (Say Goodbye from Morning Phase hit #1 back in late April 2014). For anyone who hasn't checked out my last.fm, Beck is my most scrobbled artist and my favorite artist of all time (over 2,500 scrobbles back that up) so this #1 isn't completely out of left field but regardless it is impressively quick. Black Me Out dips to #2 but still has a bullet and maybe has a chance at reclaiming the top of the chart. The Wolf drops a position but has held strong in the Top 5 for the last 7 weeks. Moaning Lisa Smile holds steady at #4; there's a pretty significant gap between the Top 4 tracks and the rest of the chart. Renegades flips spots with Future People at #5 and #6, though both songs are still gaining and could flip back depending on the events of the next few weeks. Unsteady continues to rise at #7, both X Ambassadors tracks should duel it out for higher positions but I think this track has more momentum in it. Goner jumps into the Top 10 after rising three positions, it should pass Fairly Local's peak (#7) and even has an outside chance at #1 after the titans at the top die off. Leather Jacket falls two positions and probably is beginning its descent due to a highly competitive Top 10. Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge squeaks into the Top 10. Marilyn Manson earns his first T10 hit and still has room to grow in future weeks.
This week's debuts were a little weak, but that's probably for the best since the bottom of the chart was becoming clogged with new songs all fighting each other for chances at a decent run. The HSD is all the way down at #73, as Could Have Been Me from the Struts earns the honors. I was a bit skeptical on first listen and slightly biased against the song since it got the On The Verge deal, but after a few spins I recognized its true merits. Against Me! continue their string of recent chart success, and add title track Transgender Dysphoria Blues to their list of charted songs. Death Cab For Cutie are experiencing a very impressive run by Black Sun after it got a second chance with a re-entry, and at #89 they also land The Ghosts Of Beverly Drive on the chart. This one should take a bit to heat up but then has Top 25 aspirations. At #91 is a track that was on the shortlist for months and finally earned a debut after a re-listen. The Gaslight Anthem's Stay Vicious debuts, with hopes to outpeak Get Hurt (#46) in a few months. Until The Ribbon Breaks offer their third track, Goldfish enters at #93 after nine weeks Bubbling Under. Coleman Hell's 2 Heads joins at #94, the track has been on fire on Alt radio recently and its catchiness has overwhelmed any doubts I had about an entry. Finally, Bad Suns debut with Transpose at #96. This is the group's fifth track to make the chart, though the last time they made it past #80 was with Salt (#34) last September. Hopefully this track can succeed where the last two have failed.
After one week of Starset claiming the Recurrent throne, Little Monster jumps back to #1 to coincide with its reign atop the Billboard Active Rock chart. It has now spent eight weeks leading that chart, which extends their record ahead of the rest of the field. Twenty One Pilots move to #1 on the Bubbling Under chart with the lead track Heavydirtysoul. No major dropouts this week and no huge chart news, so I'll be back next weekend for another chart. Sweet debut for "Goldfish"! Also like the debuts for "Could Have Been Me", "Transpose" and "The Ghosts of Beverly Drive". Noticed you have two Tame Impala songs on here, have you heard "The Less I Know the Better"? I've been in love with that (along with "Let It Happen").

Noticed you have two Tame Impala songs on here, have you heard "The Less I Know the Better"? I've been in love with that (along with "Let It Happen"). I haven't checked out the new Tame Impala album outside of the four tracks that were released before it dropped. I just haven't found the time to sit down and focus on a whole album since I've been busy the past few days. I'll be sure to listen for that track when I get around to it in a day or two, and I'm sure there will be more charting tracks from the album.

The top three songs all stay in place, though each has a different future. Dreams is still gaining momentum and it should be a while before it gets passed. Black Me Out isn't going to get back to #1, but should stick around in the top few positions for a while. The Wolf is done gaining any ground and should descend out of the Top 10 within the next month or so. Renegades moves to #4, but may struggle to move up any further. Moaning Lisa Smile retreats a position, but has now spent 12 weeks in the Top 10, a feat only 10 other songs have matched. Goner has one of the biggest bullets in the Top 10 and should easily crack the Top 3. Unsteady's future chart position matches its title, it should keep moving up but other songs around it will outpace it so it should be interesting to see if it can still make ground. Don't Wait Up is the only new Top 10 track this week, Robert DeLong becomes the ninth artist to grab three Top 10 hits. Future People falls to #9, the focus for Alabama Shakes shifts to see if Sound & Color can come back after a slow start and make three straight Top 10 hits. Finally, Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge holds at #10, stuck in a confused limbo and unsure of whether it has enough steam to grab a higher peak. Also, look out for Beartooth's In Between to crack the Top 10 soon, it jumped 29 spots from #51 - #22 this week, which is among the Top 10 biggest weekly jumps of all time.
The Hot Shot Debut goes to a song I'm not even sure has gone for Alternative adds yet. Nothing But Thieves' Trip Switch has an infectious riff and chorus that propelled it to a #69 debut out of nowhere this week. James Bay launches his third single on my chart, as Let It Go joins at #81. It's hoping to follow up Hold Back The River (#3) and Collide (#11, could still move up). Tame Impala dropped their third album Currents last week, and after my first listen The Less I Know The Better made enough of an impression to debut at #83. One or two other songs should grab runs of their own in a few months. Nothing More move a third track onto the chart, as The Matthew Effect slots in at #86. Still haven't listened to their full album, though it's on my to do list. Elle King had a very short run with Ex's and Oh's, but with Last Damn Night entering at #88 it has a better chance at a sustaining run. Queens Of The Stone Age chart a sixth song from ...Like Clockwork with Kalopsia at #94. The track features the vocals of Trent Reznor, another common face on the chart. Finally, CHVRCHES offer their lead single Leave A Trace at #98. Their last track to make the chart was The Mother We Share (#19), which peaked at #1 way back on the Daily Chart of January 2014 and was present on the first ever week of the current weekly chart.
Gimme All Your Love moves to #1 on the Bubbling Under chart, and it looks like Heavydirtysoul might join a short list of tracks to peak at #1 on the BU chart but not make the main chart. Carnivore flips back to #1 on the Recurrent chart, continuing to trade off with Little Monster. Dangerous drops off of the Recurrent chart with 26 weeks logged, the third longest run in that chart's history (behind Sleep Forever at 28 weeks and R U Mine at 32). That's it for this week. Dreams holds the #1 post for a third week, becoming the 15th #1 hit to do so. It now has a significant lead over Black Me Out, which has spent the last five weeks in the top two slots. Both songs need to watch out for Don't Wait Up, Robert DeLong's followup to #2-peaking Long Way Down. The song rises five spots in its second week in the Top 10, and seems to be a strong contender for the next song to grab #1. Renegades holds at #4; at this point it's probably lost its bullet and should begin a descent down the ranks. Goner moves to #5, giving Twenty One Pilots their first Top 5 hit on the chart. The Wolf finally cracks and slides out of the Top 3 down to #6. There isn't another Mumford single waiting in the wings so this could have a very pleasant slide off of the chart. Unsteady holds at #7, but probably has enough momentum to at least grab a Top 5 peak. Moaning Lisa Smile spends a 13th week in the Top 10, only the 8th track with that impressive milestone. Thrash Unreal jumps to #9 in an effort to followup Black Me Out, and should enjoy a decent Top 10 life. Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge sits at #10 for a third consecutive week. It probably isn't going to peak any higher, and should be shuffled out of the Top 10 by next chart.
Muse's Mercy was selected as the second radio single, but I gave it a handful of listens and it didn't grab me at all. So The Handler enters as the Hot Shot Debut this week at #60, the third song from Drones to make my chart. Alabama Shakes had a similar problem with single confusion, as Sound & Color ended up flopping on my chart. Gimme All Your Love debuts at #76 in an attempt to salvage the album and match the two tracks that have hit the Top 10. Bring Me The Horizon just released a cover of Linkin Park's Faint in Throne that was good enough to make it at #79. We'll see how much life it has, this seems like a song that could burn out on me quickly. Foals dropped their first radio single with Mountain At My Gates, which entered after one week Bubbling Under. It shouldn't damage What Went Down's run since there is a big gap between the two, but time will tell. Glass Animals drop their fourth single into the chart; Flip joins at #90. Imagine Dragons offer their seventh and likely last chart single with the title track Smoke and Mirrors at #93. Crystals from Of Monsters and Men debuts at #96. So this is really really late, but when walking through my college campus past a construction site I heard it on their radio and something clicked with me. I thought it was dreadfully boring however it's now growing on me quite a bit. Finally, George Ezra's fifth single Stand By Your Gun slots in at #99 and has work to do if it wants to establish a solid run.
Woman Woman bubbles under the chart at #101, giving AWOLNATION three songs that have held that slot. That ties the record of most Bubbling Under #1's with Portugal. The Man and Cage the Elephant. Dreams lasts a fourth week at #1, placing Beck in a group of only 6 other songs who have done the same. Closing in fast is Robert DeLong with Don't Wait Up, moving to #2 and matching the peak of Long Way Down in late January. Black Me Out falls out of the top 2 for the first time in two months. The big story in the top 10 is the jump from Beartooth's In Between, moving up seven positions to #4. It looks to be a battle between this track and Robert DeLong for who will claim the next #1. Goner holds at #5 and may be held back from a better peak by faster-rising songs. Unsteady moves up to #6, and is now the oldest song in the Top 10 that is still rising, which may hurt its future prospects a bit. Meanwhile, Renegades begins its descent, which may be accelerated by radio burnout. Thrash Unreal moves to #8 with more potential, as Mumford & Sons likely spend their last week in the Top 10 with The Wolf. Still no follow-up single in sight for them, they may become a rare one-hit wonder on my chart. Finally, #10 belongs to The Day Is My Enemy, as The Prodigy finally grab a Top 10 peak after three separate tries from their most recent album. This probably won't make it too much higher but for now it can bask in its accomplishment.
The debut situation is a bit odd this week, as the highest ranked song not present on last week's chart is actually a re-entry from Glass Animals. Black Mambo already passed the peak from its old run (#78) by moving in at #70 this week and now has a much higher peak ahead. Despite this, a Hot Shot Debut was still necessary to assign, and the honor went to Twenty One Pilots with Stressed Out, the probable second radio single from Blurryface. It might not hit the Top 10 peaks that the past three album tracks have on my chart, but still has a decent chart life ahead. Next in is the second single from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Riverman. It debuts at #82 just as In The Heat Of The Moment begins its decline. X Ambassadors post their fourth track from VHS, with Nervous debuting at #86. The Revivalists jumped onto my radar just last week with Keep Going. After spending one week Bubbling Under at #104 it makes a dent in the main chart, entering at #89. Jamie Lidell, the voice featured on Big Data's 3-week #1 hit Clean joins the chart with a single from his own discography. Do Yourself A Faver debuts at #92 after Bubbling Under for five weeks. Starset sends a sixth track onto the chart, with The Future Is Now. It should be a slow climber like several of their most recent singles. Finally, MS MR post Criminals at #99 after Painted (whatdidyouthinkwouldhappen) stalled while Bubbling Under. Criminals reminds me quite a bit of Hurricane, my favorite track from the duo.
Woman Woman remains on the cusp of the main chart, with a second week Bubbling Under at #1. First from Cold War Kids moves to grab the #1 Recurrent chart slot from Little Monster and Carnivore for the first time in nine weeks. I regret peaking this track at #11, it should have made the Top 10. Oh well, this compensates a bit. In chart longevity news, both A Taste Of Silver and Hollow Moon are nearing the 30 week milestone, set to become the 10th and 11th songs to hit that mark. Can either track challenge Carnivore's 39 week record? That's chart #80 in the books, I'll be back next week. • Great Top 2! Hope "Don't Wait Up" could reach atop soon. • Cool to see that "Renegades" is in the Top 10. • Amazing to see that "Let It Happen" reached atop for three weeks. I began getting into it (wish I made it before though~) and it's so good. • Interesting to see "Did You Hear the Rain?" on your chart. • Oh! Amazing to see that "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf) reached atop for six weeks as well. • Keep going "Leave a Trace".

Beck finally gives way after four weeks to Beartooth's In Between. In a bit of a surprise move, the song jumps three spots to grab the coveted top position. Don't Wait Up sticks around at #2 and Robert DeLong should be able to grab a #1 placing in the next few weeks, as his bullet has yet to falter. Dreams is now down to #3 but should have a long descent. Black Me Out becomes the 20th song in the chart's history to crank out 10 weeks in the Top 10, and should grab a few more before departing. Goner seemed to be destined for at least a top 3 peak, however that's looking less likely with the heavy competition above. The same can be said with Unsteady, stuck at #6 for now while still building momentum. Thrash Unreal moves up another position to #7, pursued closely by Shinedown's Cut The Cord, blasting into the Top 10 with a five slot move. Right behind is the other new entry to the Top 10 on the opposite end of the rock spectrum, My Morning Jacket's Compound Fracture logs a week at #9. Finally, The Day Is My Enemy holds at #10 and probably won't peak any higher.
The Hot Shot Debut this week is at a higher position than usual for the past few weeks. Silversun Pickups have a new record on the way, and lead single Nightlight captured my attention with their trademark catchiness. It should breeze into the Top 10 relatively quickly. Mac Miller is also ready to release a new LP, with 100 Grandkids joining up at #75. He previously charted with The Star Room from Watching Movies, but that only peaked at #79 so he's already passed that mark. AWOLNATION adds Woman Woman to the impressive tally of five other songs that have made runs from Run. After seven long weeks Bubbling Under, DFA1979 enter with White Is Red at #84. The song is the fifth charting track from The Physical World and has a strong upside for next week. An entry from the Pop spectrum appears in The Weeknd's Can't Feel My Face. Despite its strong Pop success, I didn't hear the song until two weeks ago, thus its slow start here. FIDLAR offer 40oz. On Repeat, a song that sounds similar to Cage the Elephant's recent output and for that reason has a good chance of a high peak on the chart. Finally, Modest Mouse respond to the dropping of The Ground Walks, With Time In A Box off the chart by debuting The Best Room at #96. Will it be the third radio single? Not sure, but I think it's the best option.
Wolf Alice's second radio single Bros holds the Bubbling Under crown this week, and should enter in the next week or so. Recurrent #1 is still CWK's First, a track that I hope can eventually climb to #1 Alternative in the next few weeks. As I prepare to start classes in the Fall, the chart will be tested to see if it can survive another semester. Hopefully my GPA and my chart can continue to thrive, but we'll see. I wasn't expecting that #1. I'm sort of surprised with how much I've been enjoying it recently, it isn't the type of song I'd typically have this high up on my chart. Beartooth might not last long at the top, but on recent last.fm scrobbles alone it deserved it. Robert DeLong will probably be able to grab #1 though, it would be a shame to see him just barely miss it two times in a row.

I'm back at college, so the chart fell to the backburner for a few days, but seeing as it's been going for 82 weeks without interruption it takes more than that to halt progress. Robert DeLong was sick of peaking at #2 on my chart, so after two weeks stuck at the runner-up position, Don't Wait Up surges to the top spot. The 10 week climb to #1 is on the longer side of runs to the top; only ten other songs have taken as long or longer to grab the crown. In Between drops to #2, but might fight back to #1 with no follow-up single in sight. Beck's Dreams hangs around at #3 in its 9th week in the Top 10 and could rebound in the next week or two if no big challengers emerge below. Goner rises to #4 but will probably miss out on a Top 3 peak. Black Me Out falls to #5, the 17th track to spend 11 weeks in the Top 10. Shinedown continue to move through the upper ranks, up two slots to #6 with Cut The Cord. Against Me!'s second single Thrash Unreal won't repeat Black Me Out's success, but should have a slow descent on the chart. Unsteady falls two spots despite still being bulleted, and though I like the song more than Renegades the chart has become very competitive at the top and Unsteady may miss out on matching or topping that track's peak. Compound Fracture holds at #9, I'm unsure how high this song will get to. Finally, Nothing But Thieves come out of nowhere to hit the Top 10 in just five weeks. This song may be looking forward to a #1 peak in a few weeks if its trajectory continues.
Exactly one year ago, the Hot Shot Debut on the chart was a song that would eventually become the first non-current track to hit #1 on the chart. This week, the same group returns with the HSD, preparing for another few months of chart domination. Soul Coughing's third album, El Oso, was finally made available on Spotify and got a quick spin from me, bringing St. Louise Is Listening to the table for a #59 debut. Expect several more Soul Coughing songs from their third album as well as cuts I missed last fall to have runs of their own in the coming weeks. Frank Turner just dropped an album recently, and Demons is the first track to chart from it following its release. Current OTV track for Alternative, S.O.B. joins at #79. Nathaniel Rateliff should have no problem flying up the charts in the next few months. Saint Asonia's debut single Better Place enters at #84 after two weeks Bubbling Under the chart. Royal Blood debut You Can Be So Cruel, the eighth single from their self-titled debt to make the chart. Yes, there is a possibility all 10 songs could make the chart (8 songs from an album is probably a record), but for now the fourth song in the tracklist is the focus. Duke Dumont charts his first ever song with Ocean Drive at #90 Need U (100%) had a decent showing on the daily chart over a year and a half ago but this is the first entry on the weekly chart. Zac Brown Band has charted a decent amount of songs on the chart (four, to be exact), but his highest peak is only #80. Junkyard hopes to change that, as the second rock single slots in at #94. Finally, Catfish and the Bottlemen chart their fifth single from The Balcony, with Sidewinder occupying the bottom place on the main chart.
The Soul Coughing resurgence continues, as Ruby Vroom lead single Down To This debuts at #1 on the Bubbling Under chart. First holds on to on the Recurrent chart crown for a third week with heavy competition from Big Data's former main chart-#1 Clean. In chart longevity news, both Until The Ribbon Breaks and AWOLNATION have achievements to be proud of. A Taste of Silver and Hollow Moon(Bad Wolf) become the 10th and 11th songs to log at least 30 weeks on the chart, and UTRB sit at 6th on the all-time longevity list. While A Taste of Silver is the second longest-lasting song to not peak at #1, Aaron Bruno's lead single is the track that has a chance at challenging the leaders in the overall milestone, only at #58 in its 30th week. Stay tuned to see how long these chart titans can last. As a final, sadder note, AWOLNATION's Dreamers breaks the record for highest drop off of the chart, leaving directly from #59 this week. Partially a product of burnout and partially a product of too many simultaneous singles from the band, it should be a while before that mark is broken.

Don't Wait Up holds at #1 this week, though Beck's Dreams rebounds to #2 with a shot at retaking the throne next week. There aren't any direct challengers to the top spot right now outside of these two songs, so it should be a while before any other name takes the #1 slot. In Between drops to #3 and won't have any more weeks at #1, but should have a slower descent than most. Goner stays at #4, with quickly rising songs below it should be difficult for it to peak any higher. One of those songs is Shinedown's Cut The Cord, moving to a Top 5 peak this week. Trip Switch is another quick riser and the youngest song in the Top 10. It flew up four slots this week and should easily peak in the Top 3. Against Me!'s Black Me Out becomes the 12th song to last 12 weeks in the Top 10, and should add at least one more week to that tally before exiting the top group. Compound Fracture crawls to #8 on the chart, followed closely behind by Slipknot's Killpop. Slipknot earns their second Top 10 on the chart with a chance to equal or pass the peak of The Devil In I(#6). Finally, Unsteady falls to #10 with little to no chance to beat the #4 peak of Renegades. The song should have a much longer descent on the chart as it hasn't been ridiculously overplayed on the radio.
The Neighbourhood have returned for their sophomore effort, and lead single R.I.P. 2 My Youth grabs the Hot Shot Debut honors at #71 this week. This might take a bit to grow on me but I'm curious to see the sound of their next album. Next up is a gold track, Slipknot's Duality in at #74. I was completely unaware of this song until members of the board made the argument that this was a better version of 5FDP's new lead single, and after firmly agreeing with their assessment I decided to chart the song. Courtney Barnett attempted a run with Pedestrian At Best (#81) but has already passed that peak with the debut of Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go To The Party at #80. Outside of the annoyingly long title, I see a lot of potential in the track that could propel it to a Top 40 peak. Chris Cornell's solo stuff has never grabbed me, but Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart surprisingly has with a #83 debut and a huge upside for next week. Wolf Alice charts a third single with Bros to rescue Giant Peach, which has slowed down over the past few weeks. Calvin Harris joins with Disciples in How Deep Is Your Love at #91. Tool offers The Grudge at #95 just as Lateralus begins to drop. Finally, Happy Song charts from Bring Me The Horizon at #97. Never thought I would get into this band but they're 2/2 so far this album. Who knows, I might check out the full project soon.
Down To This holds at #1 on the Bubbling Under chart for a second week. Soul Coughing's domination continues on the Recurrent chart where Circles debuts at #1. A Taste Of Silver drops off after 31 weeks charting, but Hollow Moon is still going strong in its 31st week on the chart with the chance to reach the 35 week mark of Little Monster and Every Other Freckle. Dreams returns to the summit for a fifth week at #1 after three weeks sitting in the Top 3. It makes history as the only song to return to #1 after more than 1 week away from the peak. Don't Wait Up gets bumped down to #2, but with the Robert DeLong album on the horizon it could get a boost back up the chart. In Between spends a second week at #3. I guess it might be time to look for a follow-up single; seeing as I didn't like Beaten In Lips I'm not positive where to turn next. Cut The Cord moves to #4 with a pretty good shot at a #3 peak, if not for Trip Switch close behind. The Nothing But Thieves track moves into the Top 5 in only its seventh week charting. Killpop ties up the peak of The Devil In I at #6, and has the potential to go a few slots higher. Compound Fracture got a boost from its feature in the big Summer tournament, rising another spot to #7. Goner finally takes a big hit, falling to #8 after a respectable run that brought it into the Top 5. Big Data and Bear Hands crash the Top 10 with Sick For Me, giving Big Data his 5th Top 10 hit and tying the all-time record also held by Portugal. The Man. Finally, Black Me Out falls to #10 in its 13th week in the Top 10. Only nine songs have reached that tenure in the Top 10 (including the Against Me! track), so that's a tough group to stick with.
After previewing Bangwave's chart a few weeks ago, The Kooks' Forgive & Forget entered my radar. I had charted Alternative lead single Bad Habit months ago (it peaked at #8 in February) but didn't look around for a followup. It earns the Hot Shot Debut honors this week at #62 and might even grab a high-reaching peak like its predecessor. As Could Have Been Me starts to fall off, The Struts move in with Kiss This at #72, hopefully the track the band chooses as their next radio single. Soul Coughing chart Down To This after it topped the Bubbling Under chart the last two weeks, it should rise slow at first but has great potential. Atlas Genius just dropped their sophomore effort Inanimate Objects, and with it came the necessity of a second single on my chart. A Perfect End fills that hole at #84 (before you ask, no I didn't know Big Data helped produce this song before I charted it) and should have a solid time on the chart. Cigarettes & Saints joins after their feature on the Summer tournament bracket. Big Data chart their seventh track with The Glow featuring Kimbra at #92. Finally, another tournament track is in at #95, Vinyl Theater's Breaking Up My Bones is called up for a main chart run.
The Bubbling Under crown goes to Better Place by Robert DeLong; with the album hype it should chart in short order. Soul Coughing retains the Recurrent title with Circles for a second and likely last week. Hollow Moon spends its 32nd week on the chart, sliding past Until The Ribbon Breaks and Broken Bells to hold the 5th longest run in the chart's history. Only three weeks away are alt-J and Royal Blood, that race should be close. That's the update, only three weeks left until the end of the third quarter and the subsequent countdown. I'm out. Nightlight makes the second largest leap to #1 in the chart's history, Silversun Pickups' jump from #16 only behind Tame Impala's Let It Happen, which moved from #17 a few months earlier. They block Dreams from tying AWOLNATION for the longest run at #1. Don't Wait Up drops a spot to make room in its 8th week in the Top 10. Both Cut The Cord and Trip Switch hold at their positions, however the former song has lost its bullet and the latter still has some climbing to do, expect them to move in opposite directions next week. In Between falls to #6 with the strong movement at the top. Continuing the trend in the Top 10 this week, both Slipknot and Compound Fracture fall a position, though both could still recover in future weeks. Sick For Me holds at #9 in its second week in the Top 10. Finally, the lone entry to the Top 10 is Outta My Mind from The Arcs, driven by my first listen of their debut album which just dropped this week. Expect a tough fight from several songs next week looking to hit the Top 10, especially The Handler, Go, bumblebee and Molecules. This week's debuts are filled with new songs I was exposed to from the Summer Tournament. Expect that to keep happening, at least until the first round ends. See Hell from Agent Fresco debuts at #69, earning Hot Shot honors. Just below is a song I had enjoyed on past listens, but the tournament brought it to my attention again. Ghost (or Ghost B.C. if you're trying to avoid getting sued) are in with Cirice at #74. Chelsea Wolfe showed up on my desk this week and I sampled a few of her tracks, Iron Moon earning a debut at #78. I'm probably going to check out her recent album Abyss this week. Robert DeLong sat atop the Bubbling Under chart last week, getting promoted to #82 on the main chart this week with Better Days. I continue to ignore Mercy and chart Reapers from Muse at #84, further pretending that other tracks were picked as the second radio single from Drones. The Arcs chart Chains Of Love at #86, the song that stuck out to me most on a first run through of their album, though several others should appear over the next few months. The Dead Weather chart their lead single I Feel Love (Every Million Miles) at #90, which hopefully can pick up a bit on Alternative. Finally, Pop Evil post a second song from UP on my chart, as In Disarray graduates to #94. AWOLNATION claim their fourth different track to top the Bubbling Under chart, as I Am rises to the post. First returns to the top of the Recurrent chart, though some heavy competition for that spot is coming soon. The two tracks: Don't Wanna Fight and Hollow Moon, both of which continue their impressive 30+ week runs on the main chart. Two weeks left in the quarter, the countdown is on the horizon. Silversun Pickups hold the top slot for a second week with Nightlight. The song continues to push ahead of the rest of the field, and should hold #1 for at least two more weeks. Don't Wait Up bumps back up to #2 with the release of Robert DeLong's new album In The Cards. No, I haven't listened to it yet but the hype alone pushed it ahead of Beck's Dreams (speaking of which, I need an album announcement from him soon). DeLong spends his 9th week in the Top 10 with the former #1 track, while Beck's track becomes only the tenth track in chart history to spend 13 or more weeks in the Top 10. Trip Switch slides up one more spot to #4, and should continue to rise until it hits the SSPU brick wall. Killpop rebounds to a #5 peak, officially giving the track Slipknot's highest peak (The Devil In I hit #6 in March). Cut The Cord falls to #6, unable to benefit from their new album hype since I'm not all that hyped for it. Might give it a quick listen though. Outta My Mind jumps to #7 and still has some momentum on its side. However exploding out of nowhere the past few weeks is Molecules from Atlas Genius. After a slow start, taking five weeks to move up just ten spots, the song hit its stride and has flown into the Top 10 with a seven position jump. Equaling Trojans' #2 peak seems unlikely now, but that could change. Sick For Me holds at #9, and has lost a bit of steam recently. Finally, Kasabian notch their second Top 10 hit with bumblebeee.
The Hot Shot Debut this week flies a bit off of the typical genre radar for my chart, as Alessia Cara's Here enters at #71. It's one of those songs where a first listen of the chorus hooks you and sells you on the rest of the track. Expect a strong run for that track. Next up is Thunderhearts from Cold War Kids off of their Five Quick Cuts EP. If you want to count that as part of the Hold My Home era it's the fourth single to chart there (likely not the last either). White Rabbits appear out of nowhere at #79 with Percussion Gun. This song has a haunting vibe to it while at the same time remaining pretty upbeat. No idea if this did anything on Alternative a few years ago when it was released, but it should have if it didn't (okay I checked it hit #31 Billboard, still too low). Nick Jonas enters at #86 with Levels. Not sure how he consistently pumps out singles that I find so infectious; he should have a tough time beating Avicii's #10-peaking similarly named track though. PVIRS debuts at #88 with Fire, the trio previously charted with St. Patrick (#45), and My House (#91). This should peak somewhere in the middle of those two tracks. AWOLNATION finally charts their second radio single I Am at #92. This track has taken a long while to grow on me but finally managed to chart after 11 weeks Bubbling Under. Collective Soul have a new album out, and This shows up at #96 to help promote it. Finally, Dawes slot in at #98 with Things Happen. I'm not sure if a peak above #75 is going to happen, but we'll see.
Slipknot rise to the top of the Bubbling Under heap with Nomadic. I'm still unsure if that song has enough momentum to make the main chart. Cold War Kids spend their fifth non-consecutive week leading the Recurrent chart with First. That run should end soon with a few chart titans ready to fall off above, and QOTSA make a strong case with I Appear Missing below. Hollow Moon spends a 34th week on the chart, and it will be a tough call to see if they can reach the alt-J and Royal Blood tying 35th. Next week is the final week of the 3rd quarter, get ready for a Top 50 quarterly countdown after that. Good to see that "Don't Wait Up" rebounds and "Dreams" and "bumblebeee" are in the Top 10. "Throne", "Can't Feel My Face", "Mountain at My Gates", "Stressed Out", "R.I.P. 2 My Youth" and "Ocean Drive" jump and the new entries from "Here" and "Levels" on your chart.

Nightlight spends a third week atop the chart, and with the new Silversun Pickups album Better Nature fresh off the presses it should gain more momentum. Trip Switch is closing in, up to #2 in its tenth week on the chart. Hopefully the track can pick up some traction on Alternative radio in the next few weeks. Don't Wait Up and Dreams each drop a position, and Beck nears the all-time weeks in the Top 10 record with his 14th chart in the group this week. Molecules continues its trek through the Top 10, rising to #5 in its second week in the exclusive group. Outta My Mind hits #6 with a small move. Killpop finally cracks and drops two slots. The Top 5 peak is impressive and the group already has another rising track in the Top 40 with Duality. Sick For Me is stuck in a "still bulleted but not really gaining any positions" limbo. I don't expect it to rise much higher. Throne from Bring Me The Horizon is the only new track to join the Top 10, and could peak as high as the Top 3. Bumblebeee holds at #10; the position it's likely to peak at. Soul Coughing has been on a roll recently with their charting resurgence. To prove it, Rolling grabs the Hot Shot Debut this week at #69. A chart veteran back with a new song debuts next at #78. Max Frost's Withdrawal continues his streak of infectiously catchy tracks to make the chart. I'm curious to see if/when a full length debut project is coming out from his camp. Highly Suspect charts their second track with Lost. Lydia isn't finished climbing yet, so expect this second single to have a slower start before taking off. X Ambassadors have exhausted all of the good tracks from VHS on my chart (no, I'm not going to chart the abysmal track featuring Imagine Dragons), so I had to dig a little deeper in their discography to unearth Unconsolable at #84. Common Kings add Ain't No Stopping to the ranks of the chart at #90. This reggae cut has grabbed me more than the recent mostly subpar singles from Sublime w/Rome and The Dirty Heads. Metric enters with a track from 2009, as Gold Guns Girls jumps in at #93. A Silent Film is looking to follow up minor hit Paralysed (#20) with Lightning Strike debuting at #95 this week. Finally a track I heard on the radio randomly a few weeks ago joins at #98. John Faye's D.N.A. is a simple catchy track that probably won't crack the Top 75 but deserved entry this week. Big news in the dropouts column this week, as two ex-#1 tracks that charted for longer than 30 weeks both dropped out. Don't Wanna Fight and Hollow Moon dropped off the chart only a few weeks short of record-breaking territory, however both failed to claim the Recurrent chart title. That slot went to I Appear Missing from Queens Of The Stone Age, a track that I have recently realize I regret peaking at #18. Hopefully this compensates a bit. Leading the Bubbling Under crowd for a second week is Slipknot's Nomadic. I'd give the track about a 40% chance of making the main chart at this point. It's the end of the third quarter this week, so expect a post in a day or so commemorating the Top 50 songs of the last 13 weeks. That's all I've got. Already 75% finished with 2015. Weird. Anyway, here's the Top 50 songs from my chart through that period. The #1 slot was pretty decisively won, however throughout the ranks there were several ties in points that had to be decided by peak position within the quarter. Look out for a similar countdown at the end of the year for the last 13 weeks to be released before I start the grand 2015 Top 100 countdown. Nightlight holds strong for a fourth week at #1 despite the fact that I have yet to listen to Better Nature. That's probably good news for the track when it's looking for a boost in a week or so. Trip Switch is stuck at #2 for a second week and might stay at that position for the next few charts. If the track isn't headed for #1 it could try and topple Robert DeLong's Long Way Down and that song's record of four weeks at #2 without hitting #1. Molecules rises to #3 in its 15th week on the chart. If it were to hit #1 in a future chart it would break the record for longest climb to the top (15 Weeks, Kathleen and Weight Of Love). Don't Wait Up falls to #4 in its 11th week in the Top 10. Outta My Mind experiences a curious movement, rising to #5 while losing its "bullet". It should start to drop next week. Dreams sits at #6, its first week outside of the Top 5 in three months. Beck ties Starset's Carnivore for 3rd with 15 weeks in the Top 10, and now has to try to hang on two more weeks to tie Dangerous and Hollow Moon at 17. Throne ascends two slots with healthy momentum. St. Louise Is Listening is right behind, and Soul Coughing tally a seven position jump that could land the song in the Top 3 as early as next week. Pop Evil break into the Top 10 for the first time with Footsteps. The rock group's previous highest charter was Torn To Pieces(#18) in August of last year. Finally, Big Data's Sick For Me drops to #10. Their focus shifts to pushing The Glow up the charts in an effort to break the tie with Portugal. The Man for most tracks in the Top 10.
The Hot Shot Debut this week comes from a chart veteran dropping a new track out of nowhere. Broken Bells earn an impressive #53 debut with It's That Talk Again. The single seems to be unattached to any upcoming project, but that won't stop it from having an impressive run on the chart. After taking months and months to grow on me (and getting over the missed choice of I Am A River as a single), Outside finally debuts at #75. There's something about the Foo Fighters that makes it almost impossible to hate any of their singles. New Order's Plastic joins at #81, followed by the second single from Nathaniel Raetliff & The Nightsweats, I Need Never Get Old, at #84. Red's radio track Darkest Part slots in at #87 after almost settling for a week Bubbling Under. Expect a nice upside for next week. The Prodigy are probably done with tracks from their new album, but that doesn't mean I can't go back to old songs I didn't know and chart them. Stand Up fills the requirements and charts at #92. The Blue Stones shed their one-hit wonder skin following #6-peaking Rolling With The Punches early this year and add Make Your Move at #96. Young Guns' Speaking In Tongues closes out the group of new tracks after a six week stint on the Bubbling Under chart.
The Bubbling Under top slot switches hands, as Keep Your Eyes Peeled from QOTSA grabs that title. Slipknot's Nomadic might end up being one of the few #101-peaking tracks in the chart's history. Over on the Recurrent chart side, the debuts there are ruled by alt-J as I'm still recovering from their phenomenal concert last Friday. Fitzpleasure debuts at #1, Taro joins in the Top 10, Left Hand Free returns to the chart after 45 weeks and Every Other Freckle gets a 10 slot bump up the chart. As the end of the year approaches, slots on the year-end chart are being claimed. So far five tracks have punched their tickets, though their positions within the 100 are uncertain. 12 weeks left!
