I wonder why they didn't premiere it sometime during the recent season of The Voice?

*sigh* It says the album was produced by Benny Blanco and Max Martin. That probably means more Overexposed pop stuff than Songs About Jane gold. I still can't wait to hear it though.

I'm still holding out a sliver of hope that Jesse Carmichael being back with the band will mean they go a little closer to their earlier sound...but it makes sense that they'd want to follow up a successful hit-packed album like Overexposed with more of the same. We'll see.

There's so much talk on Pulse wishing for Maroon 5 to "return" to their original style. I'm sitting here thinking when did they ever start making music that sounds different?

It infuriates me to no end that "Lucky Strike" was never a single.

I wouldn't say "drastically" different, but I think SAJ has more jazz and rock elements ("Sunday Morning" most evidently), whereas Overexposed is more prominently power pop (though that's probably an opinion biased somewhat by the single choices each era).

It infuriates me to no end that "Lucky Strike" was never a single. That was the most bizarre misstep and period (for a brief time was def. confirmed as the final single). To this day (even though it was a hit) dunno why they chose the snooze-fest Love Somebody vs the no brainer smash that would've been Lucky Strike :/ Plus, they performed it frequently on tour, praised by critics as highlight of the album, the public was very vocal about wanting it out, and was supposedly a favorite of the band

It is weird that went with two midtempo/ballad songs in a row. It's not like we can say "Love Somebody" wasn't a hit, but why not go for single #5 at least?

Not interested in this album. I hated every single song from the last one and those songs killed my enjoyment of the band completely.

I like shamelessly pop M5, but I do wish some of the harder hitting rock and jazz elements would be here at least in the album tracks.

Oh cool. I was hoping it will be more like "One More Night", rather than a "Payphone", but if I think about it, they will for sure start with a ballad.

It infuriates me to no end that "Lucky Strike" was never a single. I've heard "Lucky Strike" a bunch on my local Hot AC station. It was a smash hit waiting to happen. What a wasted opportunity.

They can bring on all the Max Martin pop they'd like, I'm ready for this.

Payphone and Daylight were two of my least favorite songs of the last cd, but I realize that they will probably have a few songs like that as singles/on the cd just because everyone seemed to love them. I may have to wait for Single #2 on this cd if they are following the same formula. We will see though-I am excited!

It's definitely going to be interesting to see what their sound will be. I was a huge Payphone and Love Somebody fan, but not really One More Night and Daylight is just awful imo.
As long as they include songs like Just a Feeling and Goodnight Goodnight mixed with the pop then I am ok.

I'd welcome a return to their original sound as well. There is a clear distinction between the M5 of today and the M5 of 10 years ago where This Love was their poppiest song from the album and it still had funk influences. There's a certain grittiness that their music used to have that has been polished and smoothed out.
Needless to say, I'm sure this'll be a melodic smash so I'm looking forward to it.

I feel like if "She Will Be Loved," "Never Gonna Leave This Bed," "Must Get Out," and "Daylight" were on the same album no one would even flinch.

I feel like their later singles are much more polished, but the songwriting hasn't changed much. Their slower songs are practically interchangeable.

I guess I agree with both sides of this discussion. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Anyway, song is delivered at 3:00 AM Eastern on the 16th and will impact radio that week as well, according to PlayIGA and the band's FB page, respectively.
