Same here. I joined in 2005. I'm pretty sure I was a bit obnoxious back then being in college. I'm much more laid back of a person than I was back then. I'm not sure if it showed as a poster though. LOL almost all the posts I made back then were just Billboard chart peak recites, which used to annoy pen and Nicholas 2.0. I remember them both (moreso Nick) hating Billboard, to the point where they would give me a hard time for referring to peak positions in billboard numbers. At the time my philosophy was that Mediabase meant nothing because Billboard was, well, Billboard. It took years of following the Mediabase charts in relation to the Billboard ones to understand why Mediabase is way better. More stations and of course the daily updates are nice

I still like Billboard more because it's the official one.

Even if my favorite band was denied a #1 over some shitty pop-punk band.

I don't know if many of you have been here as long as I have, but does anyone remember Joe (The Man)? He's Joe, and he's the man of the world! I also just remembered Cherry Crush whom was a huge Garbage fan. If I actually think about it, there's probably a lot of former posters that I could recall and went MIA. She's still quite active on Twitter. She once went out of her way to PM me and compliment me on my music tastes. I've had insane hipster cred ever since.

Sorry for the triple post, but this is a wicked discussion, and I need to bring up another little factoid about the old times...
I remember whenever cock rock songs got released, how the majority of posters would share their disgust and whatnot in song threads, and I'd be the only guy apart from Artie and a few random pop posters who liked most of those songs. Nobody understood why, and I said it was because I never really thought lyrics mattered nearly as much as the musical elements of a song. And boy how I would get ripped for that, haha.
I still feel somewhat similar, although lyrics matter a bit more to me nowadays. With that being said, I still don't feel disgusted, offended, or annoyed by poor lyrics if I find a song musically satisfying. I just don't think the lyrics in songs like "Bad Girlfriend" and "Figured You Out" for example should be taken too seriously, and I really don't have any issue singing along to them and enjoying them haha, and the majority of my friends feel the same way.

Anyone remember Noah Eaton? He was the reason I joined this board. Something about his posting style was so calming and relaxing.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

The opening line "I like your pants around your feet" makes me cringe with so much disgust that I immediately turn it off haha.

I know she was mostly into the indie/hipster side of Alternative, which is why I'm a bit surprised of why she went MIA during a time when it's all over the chart. Either way, I'm glad she's still around elsewhere. Very knowledgeable poster.

His posts were so intelligent and he was a real genuine guy who I felt I related to and was in agreement with a lot of what he said (although I remember some differences we had, but we had quite civil conversations about them). Sadly he boardicided due to being basically cyber-bullied and harrased by a bunch of posters in the Lounge section. A bunch of posters boardicided because of those same posters, and it was actually big deal on Pulse for a while and was nicknamed "The Mass-Boardicide Incident" or something like that.

I decided to go back to Page 100 and checked out this thread for this dreaded Bloodhound Gang song in 2005. pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/2685/bloodhound-gang-foxtrot. Just from looking at this page and others around this time, I can't believe how many former posters have left. I'm also eager to read my stupidity back then.

I think my tolerance of cock rock is a result of it being at its peak popularity during my teenage sex drive years. I feel like I'd tolerate it less if I was in my early-mid twenties or later when it exploded onto the scene.

Some of the chart predictions I made back then were so wrong, it's ridiculous. I also forgot about CrushCrushChris as he posted a ton. I don't know if anyone remembers reception being a thread starter and would just comment as "I like it."

I don't know if anyone remembers reception being a thread starter and would just comment as "I like it." It's hard to manage all the mayhem that went on in the Smooth Jazz forum, but he did it. But yeah, I'm pretty sure he had a mental condition of some sort. I remember he had his own forum with hundreds of posts by himself, and I was the only other member to post.

I also realize that this might be a good way for anyone who wasn't into music back then to read some of the threads and check out some of the material from the past. There's so many threads about songs I haven't heard in years.

Since you're from Ontario, I'm just going to guess that you're a Leafs fan?
