I expect it to pick back up eventually. Wouldn't surprise me if it's #1 right before the album release.

Yes, in fact Black Widow right now is at 15 on itunes. From the pop top 10 (apart of AATB, obviously) only Bang Bang and Habits are in the top 10 of itunes
Black Widow had very big updates this week, if it's able to sustain that kind of updates it will be number one. And that's not the only problem to Shake it off, because its own updates are very weak, and AATB is not dropping fast right now

Probably the clean version.

She is like 600 spins out. If she can maintain bigger updates and if "Black Widow" can slow its pace a bit, "Shake It Off" could snag the top spot by Sunday and "Black Widow" could take over the week after. Win win. lol

I guess it's just a case of bad timing because with the way this is dominating in streaming, sales and overall airplay I would think this was a lock for #1 on CHR. At least the Hot 100 Airplay #1 will come easily.

It's curious but it's not that rare the a song that exploded the way Shake it off exploded struggle to reach the top. This reminds me of Born this way. It's like such overexposure at the beginning of the chart run end backfiring

It's like such overexposure at the beginning of the chart run end backfiring It's happened many times in the past. It's like such overexposure at the beginning of the chart run end backfiring I mean, the spin count/audience count would have produced a dominant #1 at different points this year (didn't Boom Clap reach #1 with less than 17K spins and 100M imps?). It's just unfortunate for Shake it Off that All About That Bass got hot when it did and that Black Widow is suddenly every radio programmer's favorite song. Even if it doesn't hit #1 at pop, I don't think anyone would look at Shake it Off as anything short of a smash. I definitely view it as her most successful song - as far as ubiquity goes - to date.

Two performances in the UK this weekend for Taylor-The Graham Norton Show and The X Factor UK. This could push Taylor's song "Shake It Off" to #1 in the UK!

Yeah, a #2 pop hit is nothing to scoff at, especially when it already hit #1 on the Hot 100. This happens to Rihanna and Usher all the time.

I'm actually thinking this will take #1 by a small margin this week before Iggy takes it

And those are the cases where the song really got high on the chart, there are others with big first weeks (deal or not) like You da one or Give all your luvin that ended far from the top 10. And by the way i wasn't questioning that the song is a big hit (it's obvious that it's a big hit), i was simply thinking about how songs that start their chart run in a very dominant way end struggling to reach the top: nothing more

With Uk it's very difficult to predict, some songs that nobody heard before go big there (and generally they make some impact in europe after that).
The Vamps usually go top 10 but i don't think it will be a contender to number one. One direction should go big, but lately their singles explode only to burn midweek, so i think she should have a chance

It's not surprising this fizzling tho. The last previous huge hit like this was Born this way, and it also struggled to reach #1. I'm always amused at how people initially start to predict how a certain song will be an obvious multi-week-at-#1 hit and left similar hits paying dust. Then history repeats itself Pop charts are hard to predict so it's better not to spit to the sky This could be just slowing down and then make it for a week and then tumble down the charts when the second single arrives. It's happened before. I hope Taylor reaches #1 with SIO though (I think Never Ever stopped at #2 on pop right?)

Well it would be num.1 right now but AATB is. Plus isn't AATB selling and streaming more than "Shake It Off" Why should SIO reach num.1? The more popular song is num.1 right now.

We're talking radio, not Hot 100 (in regards to SIO hitting #1).

^^^^I realize that^^^^^ The two most popular songs at top 40 right now just happen to be peaking around the same time. AATB has been selling and streaming a little more than SIO so I can see why it's num.1 right now at top 40. However I noticed SIO was actually higher than AATB today on ITunes so I may be eating my words Lol.

This never sounded like a multi week number one to me so I'm not surprised it's likely falling short. I predicted top 10, but I think top 5 would have been more accurate.
I believe the last lead single with an explosive start like this actually "Roar" and that spent several weeks at number one on pop if I'm not mistaken.
