For the most part yeah. But I'm pretty sure they've never had a song with a higher peak on Mainstream than Alt.

I guess I'm not sure which format you mean nor do I follow the "shitting itself" metaphor.

Actually Artie, I'm on my phone so I don't really want to look it up, but I think "Stacked Actors" was a bigger active/mainstream hit than alt. If not "Stacked Actors" then "Breakout", but I'm certain it was one of the follow-ups to "Learn To Fly"

I hope this new single is an Alternative hit though.

Trailer for Sonic Highways is out. It has samples of some songs, the last one being "Something From Nothing".

Yes, thank you for noting "Bridge Burning" and "Stacked Actors" for peaking higher on Mainstream. You can also add "Monkey Wrench" to that very small list as it peaked for one extra week at #9 than it did on Alternative.

So the album is supposed to be out Novermber 10th (Like 8 weeks), so I can't imagine the single taking that much longer to come out. I'm dying to hear it.

I think they said the lead single was coming out with the premiere of their HBO show, so that's October 17th. Still a little while off, I'm finding it hard to wait that long...

I pretty much grew up with Foo Fighters and have loved them ever since I discovered them back around the 'Learn To Fly' days.

Foos are kickass. Like there's not even a doubt. No rock band is better than them in this day and age.

The thing is, everyone loves the Foo. I really don't know anyone who hates them. Their legacy and fanbase transcends taste. Even hipsters love them.

I've never met a single person that hates the Foo Fighters. There's people that don't listen to them because it's not their taste, but I've never heard a bad word about them. I think they're the best rock band around in this generation. I feel like even if someone isn't into rock music, there's at least something they like in the Foo's discography.

That's mainly why I think they have an opportunity to well and not flop.

Come to think of it, this true. I can't think of anyone I know that doesn't like them. I guess it's because they have sound that can relate to anyone whether it's a hard rocking song like "Monkey Wrench," a ballad like um say "Miracle." Dave is just so freaking talented. It's amazing how much he's done for rock music over the last 20-25 years.

Dave Grohl is just one of those musicians where anything he touches turns to gold. He's also funny and has a commanding stage presence, and works harder than most rock musicians.

I can't imagine what the response would be if the Foos first single failed to reach #1 on alternative. Green Baron, for one, would implode.

Who will see more albums, the Foos or Nickelback ? Both albums out around the same time. I'm thinking the Foos get more. I'm guessing Sonic Highways will sell around 210K, with Nickelback at 190K. Traditionally, Nickelback does better ( Here and Now sold 227K, Dark Horse 326K, and ATRR 323K), but there is zero hype going into their album and they are kind of outdated now. Plus, NB is releasing on the same date as One Direction, who are going to completely blow them out of the water, so that would hinder album sales quite a bit. The only thing against the Foos is that the album is only 8 tracks, so that might draw some people away considering the album will be sold for $9.99 on iTunes and even more physically. It should be interesting though with two of Rock's biggest acts releasing albums one after the other.

One Direction ????? Well thats Nickelback screwed.
Foos will probably struggle to gain attention on pop I imagine with their singles.

I somehow doubt anyone who is contemplating buying the Nickelback album will pass so that they can buy the One Direction album instead. I mne The demographics (mostly age, gender as well though) of the two fanbases are very different. I mean, no 12 year old girls are gonna be like "MOMMY! DADDY! I WANT THE NICKELBACK ALBUM SOOOOOOOOO BAD"

Who ever thought Nirvana's drummer would come be the lead singer of Billboards Top Alternative Rock act ever? I either love their songs or I don't, so my grades have a real see-saw effect from one song to the next. Highlighted my favs
