drindie's movie and music tastes are actually pretty similar to my dad's, only minus the indie. But then again he's probably the same age as him anyway.

Hollerado - "Desire 126" (Cody, #3) Damon Albarn - "Mr. Tembo" (Mike the Moose, #7) Desire 126 was a new track, and while not outstanding was a pretty good song. However Mr. Tembo's simple, happy beat had me listening for a few months, so the elephant goes through.
Tame Impala - "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" (Shakermaker, #3) You Me at Six - "Room to Breathe" (Green Baron, #7) You Me At Six's song was a first listen, and it's a solid track which I might chart now. Unfortunately it's matched up against Tame Impala's best. I would have liked both to go through (especially with some of the other matchups that have happened), but sadly it can't be the case.
Crobot - "Nowhere to Hide" (Mandrakegray, #3) Arctic Monkeys - "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" (Shadowscorp, #7) Thought I was voting the Monkeys until I gave Crobot a listen. Hard-hitting song that beats out one of the blander (but still good) tracks on AM. Again this tournament has helped me discover several new acts/songs I either ignored or hadn't heard of.
Coldplay - "A Sky Full of Stars" (Lahey, #5) Alter Bridge - "Cry for Achilles" (American Idiot, #7) Virtually any song would have beaten the snoozefest that is A Sky Full of Stars; the Alter Bridge track was long but decent.
Of Mice & Men - "Would You Still Be There?" (Mandrakegray, #4) 30 Seconds to Mars - "Do or Die" (Lahey, #7) Do Or Die gets the nod here in a matchup of two songs I wasn't really familiar with.
Panic! At the Disco - "This Is Gospel" (Cody, #6) Capital Cities - "One Minute More" (Lordeftones, #7) Two kind of "eh" songs but I'll go with the Capital Cities track. Panic At The Disco has always been a little whiny to me and this track is no exception.
Seether - "Words As Weapons" (Devin, #4) Youngblood Hawke - "Pressure" (cm7com, #5) It was going to be hard to beat Words As Weapons, and the new Youngblood Hawke single doesn't have the catchy qualities of We Come Running and didn't do much for me. Pretty easy choice.
Chevelle - "Hunter Eats Hunter" (Green Baron, #4) Glass Animals - "Gooey" (Invince, #6) these tracks are so different from each other, lol. I'm going with Gooey because it's more interesting and Hunter Eats Hunter was such a big step down from Take Out the Gunman.

Hollerado - "Desire 126" (Cody, #3) --> Go on, little CanCon song that could Damon Albarn - "Mr. Tembo" (Mike the Moose, #7)Tame Impala - "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" (Shakermaker, #3)You Me at Six - "Room to Breathe" (Green Baron, #7) --> Tough one, tiebreaker was my preference of YMAS over Tame Impala in general. "Elephant" really brings that band down with how awful it is. Crobot - "Nowhere to Hide" (Mandrakegray, #3)Arctic Monkeys - "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" (Shadowscorp, #7) --> Surprised Shadows submitted an indie song But this one was easy. Coldplay - "A Sky Full of Stars" (Lahey, #5) --> Disappointed by the Alter Bridge singles this era. Alter Bridge - "Cry for Achilles" (American Idiot, #7)Of Mice & Men - "Would You Still Be There?" (Mandrakegray, #4)30 Seconds to Mars - "Do or Die" (Lahey, #7) --> Mediocrity vs Mediocrity. Essentially a coin flip. Panic! At the Disco - "This Is Gospel" (Cody, #6) --> Always been a huge P!ATD fan. Capital Cities - "One Minute More" (Lordeftones, #7)Seether - "Words As Weapons" (Devin, #4) --> I like both, but Seether's best single since "Fake It" gets the nod. Youngblood Hawke - "Pressure" (cm7com, #5)Chevelle - "Hunter Eats Hunter" (Green Baron, #4) --> Generic Chevelle for the win here. Glass Animals - "Gooey" (Invince, #6)

I don't know how old that members dad is , but I'm 36 and a Leo, so I'm proud to go against the flow. BTW, Swartzenegger, Statham, Banderas and Crews= All Leos. Movies matching Music is a f***ng compliment to me. I'm actually kinda frightened to know what are you guys favourite movies of 2013 are ,if not Marvel? and you can add. Sin City: A dame To Kill For to that list. Now moving on cuz this new batch of songs are pretty damn great!
Hollerado - "Desire 126" (Cody, #3) Damon Albarn - "Mr. Tembo" (Mike the Moose, #7) Wow That Hollerado song has one sweet 80s vibe going on. never heard it till now. Guitar work like the Outfield and music style like Big Talk. A really great song. "Mr. Tembo" tanked in comparison. The sing along effect made it even worse.
Tame Impala - "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" (Shakermaker, #3) You Me at Six - "Room to Breathe" (Green Baron, #7) Tame Impala ia one of my favourite songs. I don't know why it didn't go higher on Alt. "Room To Breath" isn't dismal, but when I compare them to better songs of the same style like "Immortal" and "Bones" it just misses the mark.
Crobot - "Nowhere to Hide" (Mandrakegray, #3) Arctic Monkeys - "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" (Shadowscorp, #7) I was stoked when "Nowhere To Hide" first came out, but lost interest quickly. The Artic Monkeys' song is still one of my favs and climbing my personal charts too.
Coldplay - "A Sky Full of Stars" (Lahey, #5) Alter Bridge - "Cry for Achilles" (American Idiot, #7) This one was kinda hard. I love Coldplay, but not that AVICCI like song, so I can't chooose them. Alter Bridge do what they do and do it right and killer chorus to go along. IMOP, It's a much better song. I'm surprised Alt and Rockers are even voting for this Coldplay song?
Of Mice & Men - "Would You Still Be There?" (Mandrakegray, #4) 30 Seconds to Mars - "Do or Die" (Lahey, #7) Normally I would chosen 30 Seconds to Mars, but I hate "Do Or Die" it sounds forced. Nothing like the epic "Up In The Air". Of Mice and Men sound pretty good on thier debut album? There is slight screaming in the chorus, but it doesn'y ruin the atmosphere of the song. It's like Skillet's music.
Panic! At the Disco - "This Is Gospel" (Cody, #6) Capital Cities - "One Minute More" (Lordeftones, #7) Two great songs against each other. This one was the hardest, but I'm a huge Panic! fan and I really like thier new album. Capital Cities are just as great, but Panic! wins by a nose.
Seether - "Words As Weapons" (Devin, #4) Youngblood Hawke - "Pressure" (cm7com, #5) Normally I would have chosen Seether for anything but "Words As Weapons" "Fake It" "Rise To It" even The George Michael cover ,but I just don't like thier new song. I never heard this Younblood Hawk song till now. I thought "Digitalism with Wolves was thier new one? Anyway, Pressure sounds better to me than the Seether song.
Chevelle - "Hunter Eats Hunter" (Green Baron, #4) Glass Animals - "Gooey" (Invince, #6) I got nothing agaisnt Chevelle. "Take Out The Gunman" was pretty damn sweet, but I can't get into "Hunter Eats Hunter" I'm not too crazy about "Gooey" It just sounded boring, but if I had to choose one, it would be "Hunter Eats Hunter"

Both first listens for me, but "Desire 126" actually had some energy to it, while "Mr. Tembo" did not. Also I was rather weirded out by the latter. 2. "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" isn't a bad song, but it's definitely weaker than "Room to Breathe", which I find to be very enjoyable. 3. I'm a pretty big fan of Active songs, as most of you probably know, but "Nowhere to Hide" didn't do too much for me. Looks I'll have to go with the one indie song I chose. 4. Hard choice. Both great songs, but I'm going to have to give it to "Cry of Achilles" because that was epic even for Alter Bridge's standards. 5. "Would You Still Be There" grew on me after listening to it for a few weeks, but "Do or Die" was one of the highlights on 30STM's latest album. The latter goes through here. 6. "This is Gospel" is pretty good, it actually sounded like something from P!ATD's earlier pop-punk records. "One Minute More" is just OK. 7. "Pressure" is better than "We Come Running", but it still doesn't hold a candle to the awesome "Words as Weapons". 8. I'm going to have to agree with Green Baron's post and ask how people are voting for "Gooey". That sounded like a more boring, lyrically awful, basically a poor man's Alt J. "Hunter Eats Hunter", however, is a great song off a great album and easily takes this one.

Hollerado - "Desire 126" (Cody, #3) Damon Albarn - "Mr. Tembo" (Mike the Moose, #7)
Musically...both tracks barely kept my interest. I guess I like the Hollerado song more? At least they had the good sense of getting Dave Foley to star in their video.
Tame Impala - "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" (Shakermaker, #3) You Me at Six - "Room to Breathe" (Green Baron, #7)
Man...I love both of these. Very tough pick.
Crobot - "Nowhere to Hide" (Mandrakegray, #3) Arctic Monkeys - "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" (Shadowscorp, #7)
Tough draw for Crobot, who are one of my favorite new bands of the year. Another matchup where I love both songs (though I am long burned out on the AM cut).
Coldplay - "A Sky Full of Stars" (Lahey, #5) Alter Bridge - "Cry for Achilles" (American Idiot, #7)
Both tracks have their strengths. I'll lean towards the rocker out of the two...but this is matchup I'm largely indifferent about.
Of Mice & Men - "Would You Still Be There?" (Mandrakegray, #4) 30 Seconds to Mars - "Do or Die" (Lahey, #7)
The 30 Seconds To Mars cut is really good, but I love the energy and cool chorus of the Of Mice & Men song...who are my favorite of the current crop of metalcore bands (the fact that their material largely emphasizes clean vocals is a big plus).
Panic! At the Disco - "This Is Gospel" (Cody, #6) Capital Cities - "One Minute More" (Lordeftones, #7)
Two likable songs. This one's pretty much a wash for me.
Seether - "Words As Weapons" (Devin, #4) Youngblood Hawke - "Pressure" (cm7com, #5)
Really liked the Y. Hawke track a lot! Unfortunately, it got paired against Seether's chart topping latest.
Chevelle - "Hunter Eats Hunter" (Green Baron, #4) Glass Animals - "Gooey" (Invince, #6)
Hey...I like the Glass Animals song! Nice production and buildup. But "Hunter Eats Hunter" is just epic. I love the opening riff and the breakdown that kicks in around the 2:50 mark.
