Joseph Kahn just RTd the video announcement, so I guess it's safe to say he's the video director.

HDD is saying Taylor is a lock to perform at the Grammy's. If the tour performance is any indication, this is going to bring the house down. Cannot f**king wait. :'( I mean she has to recreate the tour performance at the Grammys. Best tour performance of this tour by far. It'd be great to watch her perform a medley (I mean 1989 and its singles were huge) but she would never ever ever do that. hey you never know it's still early to tell and two months

The continual hype for New Romantics makes me roll my eyes so hard. It's Taylor's least convincing song, like, ever. Taylor Swift is a lot of things, but she's not "over it".

I can't believe how much people like this. It's mind blowing. I mean, it is a great song, but there are many other songs that would be epic on radio. I'm sure it will be big but whether you like it or not, New Romantics would be huge, AYHDTWS would be massive, HYGTG would also be great.

Out of The Woods is the last sure-fire hit on the album. NR, HYGTG and AYHTDWS all remind me of 22...

Meh @ this being next. I know it's a fan favorite and I expect this to do well (in part because of that), but for me this is pretty easily my least-favorite single of the era thus far. Even though I'm not crazy about it though, I'll be happy to see it smash and I'm looking forward to another great music video. <3

I haven't been into the song since it was released before the album came out, but I can't deny I am definitely looking forward to the video, especially after seeing where part of it was shot.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but it's hilarious to hear the people that dismiss an extremely well-written, well-crafted, epic pop song like Out of the Woods because they're just so sure the most generic fare on the album like AYHTDWS and HYGTG is what's REALLY worth prolonging the era for.

Now, now, let's not confuse a mere difference of opinion with a difference in quality.
That's wonderful if someone enjoys HYGTG more than OOTW. OOTW is definitely a little bit polarizing.
But, I'm sorry, the 1989 era is not being prolonged because Pop song of the year How You Get The Girl deserves to be played 18,000 times a week on the radio.
In terms of craftsmanship, Out of the Woods is 1989 at its peak, I think.
Certainly over How You Get the Girl, which is generic and reductive, All You Had To Do Was Stay which is on the blander side and not really aligning with Taylor's sound this era, and New Romantics which is just not on brand for her. Even though yes, my opinion is mixed in with what I just said, that's also looking at the list from an industry-critical perspective.

Oh there are definitely those that don't. There has been clamoring for AYHTDWS and HYGTG and NR from a certain portion of Swifties since 1989 was released.
At the same time, this isn't just strictly about opinion. If you're gonna release a sixth single, it's got to be a song worth investing time, money, and energy into when the returns risk be extremely diminished. You also want to keep the string of hits going so she goes out on a good note.
I just don't think people advocating for All You Had To Do Was Stay and How You Get the Girl are looking at it critically like that. How You Get the Girl is not the song to get played 18,000 times a week and serve as a final bookend to an epic era. It's just not, I'm sorry.
But yes, sometimes people get these decisions wrong.
Look at Ariana Grande. :)

I was driving home listening to 1989 the other day wondering if they were going to do a sixth single and thinking that if they do they really need to stop at six.
OOTW is the only choice that makes sense.
I will never ever ever understand the hype for 'New Romantics'.

Not even a mention of Wonderland? Wow.
OOTW never clicked with me, but I guess it will do well, so whatever.
New Romantics, while great, isn't really true to Taylor.
AYHTDWS and HYGTG are reductive versions of Katy's bubblegum pop songs.
My fave of the remaining tracks are Clean, I Know Places and You're In Love.

This video has great potential - I hope it capitalizes on those wondrous visuals in the lyrics.

If we are following this with another single, I think that I Know Places or Clean would be perfect era closers. However, I'm not sure what's really in it for them to keep it going.

The bridge for OOTW is one of the best, I will agree. I just think other songs on the album could be bigger/as big of a hit, that's all.
I also think it would be cool if Ryan Adams and Taylor did either a remix together, or a performance at the Grammys. I think it would be cool to see them do a duet of OOTW at the GRammys.
