There are other hits on this album, of course ("AYHTDWS" and "NR" would both smash). But she doesn't need to release basic, easy hits that will do nothing for her catalog/legacy. She did that already with "SIO" and "BB." She's one of the few artists out there that doesn't have to release her easy hits, so when she does, it just feels cheap. "Bad Blood" was a hit, yes, but it was still a lame single choice, because the song is pedestrian as f**k. Leave that kind of nonsense to Katy Perry.
I personally think this song is going to massively underperform, but I don't care. She's ending this era on a high note with one of the best songs of her career. And I'm sure we'll get an epic Grammy performance and video out of it.

Why are people dragging Katy Perry under the bus now? lol Not every single needs to be some mind blowing lyric masterpiece. Katy has plenty of songs that will be remembered in pop history just as will Taylor. Katy has massive appeal, she performed at the Super Bowl of all places... and of course Taylor has the power to do that as well, but the Super Bowl doesn't just pick anyone. Katy is also one of the biggest pop stars in the world.

Dragging Katy Perry under the bus *now*?
I'm pretty sure we dragged her under the bus for releasing lame the lame as hell, basic single choice "Birthday" and especially "This Is How You Do" over stuff that was still completely mainstream but had SLIGHTLY more edge and flavor ("Walking On Air", "Legendary Lovers").
I think I basically said verbatim what Ling-Ling said in I think the TIHWD topic.

Can we please not turn yet another Taylor Swift thread into a Katy Perry bash fest? It's the same tired arguments from both sides each time.

I think I basically said verbatim what Ling-Ling said in I think the TIHWD topic. The dragging started with "Unconditionally" being released as a single. TOY, even though it's one of my favorite KP songs and video, should've never been released. She took a risk and it backfired again. Dark Horse helped because it was an obvious favorite but she screwed herself with such a sh!tty viral focused video for "Birthday." It could've went the same route of "Sugar" if done right but it ultimately wasn't.

Besides balking at NR being lumped with AYHTDWS, I'm wondering what OotW will do for her legacy.... And how it's not basic. Taylor could release nearly anything from 1989 right now and it would do well. Any of NR, IKP, YAiL, TL, and Clean would be better for her "legacy."

I really hope she releases an acoustic/piano version of OOTW on itunes. It's gold
Plus, it could help the sales for OOTW the same way the dance remix of WD helped.

This performance just reminds me how happy I am this is a single. I hope somehow they squeeze I Know Places in after this lol, but I highly doubt it. Nearly every song on the album would be a perfect single

My radio station is already spinning this at least 5 times a day. I guess my country's radio stations used Australia's as a model.

Can't believe this is finally happening. Not my favorite on the album but it has the biggest video potential out of any song on 1989. Can't wait for the visuals!

Was the radio mix of WD ever officially released on iTunes? I don't think it was... why not? I mean, it would not have hurt..

They better not fuck up the video for this. It really does have the biggest video potential out of any song on 1989.
