Honestly, if this thread hadn't been bumped, I would've totally forgotten that Gwen was releasing new music. Her hype is completely gone at this point.

I would like to take this chance to say goodbye because your arguing and trolling will lead you to being banned very shortly. It was fun? Banned for telling you that you're all deluded people who will only buy a single if it's successful? Actually I've read posts from people saying that they were waiting for Baby Don't Lie to smash to see if it's worth buying. lol Keep buying the s**t that is in the top 20 then. You're doing it right. I'm done here. Absolutely none of us have said that we only buy successful music. I don't know where you got that idea from. I also have no idea where you saw people saying that about "Baby Don't Lie." I honestly don't believe you at all about that statement. I believe you may have thought that's what you read, but judging by your arguments here, it's clear that your reading comprehension skills aren't top notch.

Since I'm seeing it from multiple posters now, a reminder that personal attacks (including attacks based on someone's music taste) are against the rules and subject to a warning. Please keep the discussion contained to the song itself. Thanks!

Objectively speaking and as a big Gwen fan for musically and as an overall artist, I was blown away that they let a radio hit stall - BDL hit top 20 and certainly could have gone higher with some type of push. Artists in 40s have rare chance to get on Pop radio Gwen and Fergie did it at same time. If they had really "gone for it" with BDL, it would have made future releases easier to get acceptance at radio. This song has done nothing for me and I've tried many times. Gwen did say she hoped for both solo release and ND in 2015, so there is more music. It will just be harder without the easy platform (TV) to get attention. Strangely, I didn't look at BDL faring poorly as a huge cause for concern; an underperforming lead single is nothing we haven't seen from Gwen before. It's the follow-up faring even worse, that does show the reason to worry, for me anyway.

I'm warming up a bit more toward this track after SO MUCH promo, but the omg omg verse is still the most cringeworthy part of a song I've heard in many years I still love hearing both versions of BDL though... And am upset at the missed opportunity for that track to become a solid top 20 or maybe top 10 pop hit. Another case of a female Voice coach with a great platform for a comeback, who fucked up her chance by not promoting a hot lead track

That song is such a jam!

It can't be as bad as they're all saying, I thought.
I was so wrong. This is abysmal. Why are her label investing in this shit? If I were them I would have told her to get back into the studio and start again.

For those few who like it, here's how it's doing on Pop:

I can't tell which is more of a mess, this song or thread. And looool at that poster whose argument goes (I think) - you can only tell an artist to move on from a single if you buy it online. Funny stuff! I wonder how much of this is actually her pushing this. I can see her having a lot of clout, but really she hasn't released an album in years so I don't know why they're allowing her to do this. Are there any agreements that if an artist does what they want they have to pay for any damage? I always imagine something like that.

Is this thread a joke? What is going on? "Spark the Fire" is currently the song to hate-post on Pulse. Gwen's albums are usually eclectic and have something for everyone so if you don't like "Spark the fire" relax, wait for future releases, and let those who enjoy the song discuss it without being personally attacked.

No one is personally attacking anyone who likes the song, in fact, more hate has been thrown at those who dislike the song. (Trust me, I would know)

Pulse is business savvy and doesn't have a "song to hate" without reason, especially if it's from someone as "Pulse loved" as Gwen Stefani. Man, you've been wearing the same sunglasses since 2005. Take those blinders off now. Realize that people here WANT Gwen to succeed and are cognizant enough to know that "Spark The Fire" won't be the song to do it.

No, but when you have The Voice and your own commercial... Ummmm... I've said in a previous post The Voice was the only highly viewed show "Spark the Fire" was performed on which helped it crack the top 40 of iTunes despite a messy roll out by the label and zero Radio airplay. So consumers did respond to the song when it was performed on a notable show. The other performances were nice to have but are not going to magically help the song take off with a fraction of viewership of The Voice. How much more of your time and energy do you want to invest in the thread of a song you claim to despise? I like the song a lot and will continue to shoot down negative exaggerations so I'll be here if you want to keep this going. Uhmmmmm....

However, once again at the end of the day the familiarity of the song is still low due to a lack of Radio airplay. Look at "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy which started off with solid support from Alternative and Rock Radio and some middle of the road spins from Pop stations. Then once there was familiarity with the song built up it was featured on various ESPN properties during the key football season which propelled the song up iTunes and now it's taking off at Pop. However, the promo only pushed it over the edge once people were familiar with the song enough.

Look at songs like "Boom Clap," "Take Me To Church," or "Habits (Stay High)" which all took off in sales due to being featured in a commercial. All three of these examples had slim to nil exposure from airplay, but they resonated with the public and sold anyway. "Spark The Fire" is getting enough exposure; if it was connecting with people, they'd easily find their way to it.

I honestly don't know much about "TMTC" or "HSH" to comment but "Boom Clap" was featured in a tween centric movie with a built in young fanbase that correlates with the audience who are more likely to consume digital singles. Also all three examples you gave are new relatively unknown (at least to the mainstream) artists which are more "sexy" for people to discover in non traditional ways vs. Gwen who is a well known established artist who you either like or hate after a 20 year career.

It's been consistently within the Top 30 since release.
