I think it has had more promo than Booty tho. It was the song of the Fiat TV commercial for Black Friday. It's now in an omnipresent Master Card featuring Gwen herself, was performed in the Voice (arguably the TV show with greatest impact in iTunes!), has a well budgeted video, and it was even hyped by DJs and Pharrell on radio and social media. Few songs have as much exposure as this one IMO. But people are free to believe what they want :)

My local CHR's DJ mocked this song hard today. Safe to say it wont receive any airplay here haha.

Correct, which is why I have said it should be doing better on iTunes. However, once again at the end of the day the familiarity of the song is still low due to a lack of Radio airplay. Look at "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy which started off with solid support from Alternative and Rock Radio and some middle of the road spins from Pop stations. Then once there was familiarity with the song built up it was featured on various ESPN properties during the key football season which propelled the song up iTunes and now it's taking off at Pop. However, the promo only pushed it over the edge once people were familiar with the song enough. "Centuries" has done well on iTunes since the beginning. It's been consistently within the Top 30 since release. Correct, it's also had consistent airplay across multiple formats which helped build familiarity before the promo pushed it to the top 10 of iTunes (much harder to crack than simply top 30) where it currently sits now. I don't know what people are trying to prove with all this? I've said "STF" should be doing better based on the promo it has received but I also feel some people's expectations are unrealistic for song that hasn't been sent to Radio.

It's not unrealistic to think the song would AT LEAST be in the top 100 though, even though that K-Pop song "I Am the Best" has almost no AirPlay, it was still in the top 200 during the songs run.
EDIT: 200 not top 100

I think what people are trying to prove it that this song will not be a hit regardless. It's almost universally panned. As someone mentioned before, Centuries has been in the top 30 of iTunes since its release. Also, there are a lot of people who have enjoyed Gwen's music in the past that are objectively not on board with this one. I understand you like the song and may feel that it hasn't had success because it wasn't sent to radio or hasn't had that much promo, but from what I can tell the vast majority of people on this board and the general public disagree. Not only do a lot of people dislike it but it also seems many people absolutely hate it, such as those radio DJs mentioned above. Whether or not that is deserved I suppose could be debated, but you can't force people to like a song, and if people don't like it, it's not going to perform well.

A lot of people hated "All about that bass" when it first came out and look what a huge hit it became.

Yes, a lot of people hated All About That Bass. But a lot of people thought it was catchy. It also was high on iTunes and got a ton of ads early on which indicates support from the general public and radio. There was a lot of momentum for an unknown artist. STF has an even more negative reception here, but more importantly the general public and radio are reacting extremely negatively towards it.
I understand that you're trying to make an argument saying that other songs that were hated became big, but I think at this point it's glaringly obvious that this is nowhere near an All About That Bass situation. Not even close.

Everyone I've talked to has hated it. Also, I just don't see why we're arguing about this, the song is dead, and I expect her to just move on to No Doubt and release this album with a new single.

Dude, you're a hater, we get it. Why bother posting in a thread about a song you despise so much? And who are you to tell Gwen to move on? Have you realized that are people out there who actually care about this song? Probably it's not a likeable song for most but it doesn't mean it's bad. I could you drag you if I wanted cause it'd be so easy, believe me, especially with that sig. LOL but I'm not even going there.

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't get why people put so much effort in hating something they (apparently) don't like. It's beyond me. Like those youtube haters who come back for more and in the meantime they keep giving views to a video they despise. lol Do they even realize that they keep listening to a song they "hate" non-stop? It's like they need to prove something? When I hate something I don't lose my sleep over it. I move on. I don't tell the artist to move on. Sometimes I wish the song would gain momentum just to shut up some of these haters.

Anyways, Stan drama aside, the song isn't going to be a hit, and IM DYING for Gwen to have a hit! So please... stop. Also, I didnt "tell Gwen to move on" I said "I expect her to move on" because she's a smart business woman.

I never under this "well it's not on the radio so nobody knows about it" argument for songs that are flops. This song has been performed on national TV twice and is featured in 2 massive ad campaigns, one of which has Gwen as the focal point of the whole commercial. So I just don't believe "oh if it was just on the radio, people would buy it" when the whole reason Take Me To Church took off was because it was in the Beats commercial with Lebron James. Nobody in America knew that song except the handful that are listening to AAA radio.

Nobody in America knew that song except the handful that are listening to AAA radio. Just because it worked for one song doesn't mean it's going to work for all songs that are ever featured in a commercial. Beats/Apple commercials have a successful track record for launching songs...maybe it's because music-minded tweens are more likely to be receptive to this type of messaging than a car or credit card commercial? Or as I pointed out before maybe it's more "sexy" to discover an up and coming 24 year old rock artist than a 45 year old female artist who's been around for 20 years? Point being nothing is going to ever be apples to apples and often times the music industry doesn't make much sense so it's not worth having the same expectations for every song. Yes, "Spark the Fire" should be doing better based on the promo it has received. Yes, there appears to be a lot of people despising the song on internet forums (which is not always reflective of the entire general public) but the internet has become a negative place. No matter what youtube page you go to you will find several people saying how much this particular artits/song sucks....it's inevitable and should be taken with a grain of salt. Also, Radio still remains the biggest driver of Digital sales because it builds familiarity. The top played Radio songs garner over 100 million impressions each week which is definitely a larger audience than some throwaway TV appearances will ever reach.

It's sad indeed. Sorry to ruin your party kiddos but there are still plenty of people who are still buying this track. Actually I've read comments from people who initially disliked it and now love it. There. At least I'm showing some appreciation about this song and Gwen. Otherwise I'd not even bother to drag her down. You don't see me going to the Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande's threads to trash them lol Do something more useful with your time than troll threads of music you (apparently - yeah right!) despise. Now that's what I call trolling. xoxo
