Lady Gaga to record second jazz album with Tony Bennett
Bennett reveals the 'Cheek To Cheek' follow-up will be 'all Cole Porter songs' KIM HILLYARD, 22ND OCTOBER 2015
The pair released 'Cheek To Cheek' in September 2014, a cover album of popular jazz standards including 'Anything Goes' and 'Letβs Face the Music and Dance.' It subsequently topped the US Billboard chart.
Now, Tony Bennett has revealed that the pair are working on a follow up.
"Yeah, we're doing an album," he told Vulture. "It's going to be all Cole Porter songs. He was the best writer of all of them in the Great American Songbook. Highly intelligent. We're going to have a lot of fun doing that."
Cole Porter was an American composer and songwriter whose songs achieved huge success on Broadway in the 1930s. Notable songs by Porter include 'Iβve Got You Under My Skin' and 'I Get A Kick Out Of You.'
Lady Gaga is reportedly working on her fifth album, the follow-up to 2013βs 'Artpop.'
Gaga recently revealed she has suffered with depression and anxiety for her whole life.
The pop star was speaking about her work with the Born This Way foundation, which she set-up in order to help support the wellness of young people. In an interview with Billboard, Gaga said "the internet is a toilet" and suggested a correlation between depression and time spent online.
Asked by the publication why she felt the need to set up the foundation, Gaga said it was born "from the years I spent watching my fans grow up" and seeing the problems they faced in their lives.
She went on to speak of her own mental health: "Iβve suffered through depression and anxiety my entire life, I still suffer with it every single day. I just want these kids to know that that depth that they feel as human beings is normal. We were born that way. This modern thing, where everyone is feeling shallow and less connected? That's not human."

God Gaga is so incredible on AHS. Not only is she a great actress but she brings out the best in everyone she's surrounded by. This is by far my favorite season of the show. For those complaining there is no substance you aren't looking deep enough. The metaphors on this season are giving me life.
I'm in Vegas atm and they are building an arena on the NYNY hotel. I can totally see Gaga headlining there in a few years.

LG5 will happen in 2016. Tony & Gaga's second will most likely release in 2017. C2C was a 1.5 year process and I'm sure they haven't started recording yet for the 2nd collab album.

Since they have a specific theme (Cole Porter) for this 2nd record, it's possible that the recording process might be much quicker. Though she is super busy with the AHS show and then recording the album(s), she could still find time in there to do it all.

At this point, Tony Bennett doesn't need to be taking 1.5 years to record anything. The man is 89 years old.

Wasn't most of C2C completed prior to Artpop and then sat on for a year? I seem to have the recollection that there was a completed, or a near completed, album sitting there until everyone had the time to promote it.

The CtC follow up will definitely be recorded and probably released before LG5. They probably want to get it out of the way before that era starts, so they can go full throttle once it does without a detour/interruption. CtC2 in Feb, LG5 in May. Or maybe they will wait till next fall/Holiday, but god I hope not!

Doesn't look like he'll be retiring any time soon. Wasn't most of C2C completed prior to Artpop and then sat on for a year? I seem to have the recollection that there was a completed, or a near completed, album sitting there until everyone had the time to promote it. You're right. It was recorded around the same time as ARTPOP. And it kept getting delayed as it would've clashed with the artRave Tour and the album. Only time will tell, but it's speculation and wishful thinking on my part. We're not even sure how far along Gaga is with her own album and she's already occupied with AHS and she might start married life soon too.

They planned it way in advance so that it wouldn't interfere with her Pop era.

She's working with Mark Ronson on her new album.

I can't believe no one has commented on Gagas breakout episode on AHS last week. This season is so awesome I love her character. I also love that she's married to my favorite actor from every other season.

She's working with Mark Ronson on her new album. I was about to complain until I remembered: Obviously I doubt they'll in any way attempt to recreate anything on this album but I'd love to hear them do something in the vain of Valerie.

I love that ad with her and Tony. It's so adorable. And Gaga looks and sounds great. I am hoping they recorded a full version of the song and will release it for purchase. I'd love to hear them do something in the vain of Valerie. YES PLEASE!

Um...Mark Ronson??! I am not even close to being ready for this masterpiece. Stick with him for the whole album. Throw a couple other producers like RedWine a bone when needed for a radio single or two but I need this.

I'm so obsessed with that Barnes & Nobile commercial. Every time it comes on, I stop what I'm doing to watch it. I love the surprise face she makes when she hears Tony singing at :20. So cute.

Hopefully new music in 2016 will continue the good will Gaga earned this year. Mark Ronson certainly sounds interesting (Back To Black is one of my favorite albums ever), though I hope it doesn't skew to retro/jazz-y.

I kinda feel like all her momentum from the beginning of the year is gone again, especially since her AHS role hasn't inspired all that much talk. I was afraid that was gonna happen. I really wish she would've had the new material ready to go 6-9 months ago. But the most important thing still is that she kills it with the music next time out, so as long as that happens she should have a decent shot at a big comeback.

It's a lot to do with timing. In perfect scenario she will attend the Grammy's and have a new single out then. Worst case scenario is that she'll wait until Q4 when it'll get lost in the shuffle a la Ariana Grande's latest.
