Hmm...maybe this isn't done yet? It lost 7 spins in this morning's update, but gained 300k. Thomas only lost 8 spins and about 320k.
LoCash's "thank you" ad from last night is really throwing me off. "Thank you" ads always indicate that a song has peaked, and it does seem like last week was Reviver's "power up" week...but after listening to what LoCash actually said, I'm not so sure that the song is done. While the video clip did list all the peak positions for ILTL (on various charts), the guys didn't really make any mention of the song, and instead just thanked radio for a great 2015. It wasn't a "thanks for a top 3 hit" type of thing.
So maybe Reviver will try to keep this alive through the end of the week yet, and hope Thomas loses enough that they can eek out a #1 here. This song is pretty generic to me, but I'm not a fan of "Die A Happy Man" at all. That said, DAHM is a huge hit, so I'm hoping it can score a 5th week at #1. Thomas has a 5 million lead to work with, so Reviver definitely has their work cut out for them.

The video clip did almost nothing for me in terms of give me a clear indication they were or were not done promoting it; though thanks trebor for the video since my PC just wasn't playing the audio from the video in the PDF last night. The update today just made me more skeptical as to what exactly they're doing here. If they were truly done with promotion then I would have thought a loss of at least 50-60 spins and a loss in audience would have been likely today but they almost broken even in spins and rose in audience. I'm with you though, I prefer "I Love This Life" to "Die A Happy Man" but Rhett's song is a huge hit and it's time we start seeing five week #1 singles again.

I hope this song gets blocked. Its so generic, vanilla, and pandering. The vocals aren't anything special either, so I can't figure out how this song has managed to sneak into the top 5. This just seems like a low budget attempt to recreate "Chicken Fried", but not to any success.

I wonder with today's update if Reviver gave up on "I Love This Life" as it lost 200K in audience today. I'm definitely surprised this probably won't hit the top of the chart. But it looks like Die A Happy Man might've been too much of a force.

But it looks like Die A Happy Man might've been too much of a force. Maybe with the first few days Reviver may have been trying to push "I Love This Life" because it was holding steady, but clearly the gap between the two didn't shrink enough for it to hit #1 this coming Sunday/Monday... "I Love This Life" lost 130 spins (while "Die a Happy Man" gained 6 lol) which I think is a pretty good indicator of them giving up. Plus it doesn't seem likely at this point that LoCash will be competing with Brothers Osborne who is only 100 spins behind and pushing for #1 next week... So I'm inclined to say this song is done.

What Reviver was hoping for was that Valory would let go of "Die A Happy Man" and they could slide up op the #1 position this week but alas, Valory went for a fifth week at Billboard and a fourth at Mediabase. This label is brand new and even though they have hired a full promotion staff, they just couldn't compete with a monster hit like "Die A Happy Man", which shouldn't be something to be ashamed about since Broken Bow (who has tons of money and resources) couldn't compete with "Die A Happy Man" either.
Since UMG is going for a #1 push with "Stay A Little Longer" this Sunday though next weekend, I think Reviver did indeed know this week was their only hope and it looks like the little engine that could finally met its match.

So far, the #1s have equaled the #2s since Billboard 2016 stared (since December, 2015):
#1s: 1. I'm Comin' Over-Chris Young 2. Nothin' Like You-Dan + Shay 3. Gonna-Blake Shelton 4. Die A Happy Man-Thomas Rhett
#2s: 1. Smoke Break-Carrie Underwood 2. Burning House-Cam 3. Gonna Know We Were Here-Jason Aldean 4. I Love This Life-LoCash

I'm very happy to see how high this got. I've been rooting for this one. I first heard this song in March and my first thought was wow that is catchy; that has hit written all over it.

See? Exactly what I'm talking about. Dude has a major bias. Oh come on, how is this not bro country? It's a guitar driven rock song with added production effects (don't try and tell me those drums sounded like that in the studio), with lyrics that check off almost every bro country tick box. Small town, yep, country girl, yep, Friday night, yep, dirt road, yep, trucks, yep. Plus for good measure we have the latest trends of meaningless "oh oh"s thrown in randomly and comparing his girl to a drink. Am I supposed to be happy they refrained from adding a line about how he loves her painted on blue jeans? Although they did reference Don Henley instead of Tom Petty, so I guess that's progress... For the record, I am not Jack Gaines on Wikipedia, though I have edited country music articles before. Let's also not forget that it includes the phrase, "I roll like that"!

I agree.....and I also think a sports team will use this as their anthem before too long. I am glad this went to radio as well.

I work overnights at an assisted living facility. Last night on CMT Radio Live + After Midnight I swear they played this song 10 times in between 11p-5am! I love it!

Shouldn't this have gone recurrent on MB? ILTL was bulletless @ #2 two weeks ago, bulletless @ #5 last week now bulletless again this week. That's 3 straight bulletless weeks. Did the recurrent rules change?

Did the recurrent rules change? It lost in spins but since it had an overall point gain when it peaked it overall kept it's bullet.

Did the recurrent rules change? LoCash had a bullet two weeks ago. See here: www.countryaircheck.com/pdfs/Current011916.pdfThey lost 17 spins during the January 10-16 tracking week, but they gained in points (+161) and so they retained their bullet.
