Actually by saying I prefer a Tim McGraw song that I actually don't like at all either but feel is better quality over this, I am responding to this song as I'm making a comparison of which I'd rather see make it to the top summit. I see these types of posts all the time in the bro country song threads and nobody bats an eye, the only reason for any criticism of my post is that it's about underwood of who I have no issues with whatsoever when she sings something good it's good, this is not good at all. It's almost borderline good girl bad but I don't think anything could be as bad as that song was as far as her songs go for me. Personally I don't believe her more tims songs are of the quality that they should be number 1 but I digress. Cool! But saying "Cmon Tim pick up the pace" is trolling. This being about an Underwood song means nothing. Those that go into bro-country songs and consistently tear the tunes down get called out by posters left and right, so I'm not sure what board you're reading. I've done it plenty of times before, as have plenty of others on here. Glad you don't like this song and think it's bad; the GP and critics disagree in waves, so the minority is just where you'll have to sit on this one.

Well this is interesting. Carrie is behind by 10 spins and 1.1 million AI with one day to go. Sony needs to push for every spin because this is going to come down to possibly single digits with spin totals. It's obvious that Tim and Carrie are both peaking this week. I don't understand why Blake is fighting the MB #1 because he's guaranteed probably 2 weeks at #1 on BB and one on MB due to Jason being over 8 million behind. If Carrie can't hit #1 on BB, I at least want to see them fight for the MB #1

But I apologize if it offended you in any way that wasn't my intention.

If Carrie can't hit #1 on BB, I at least want to see them fight for the MB #1 Sony knows this, and I can assure you they went hard today to achieve the most spins possible to secure the MB #1 tomorrow. Warner is probably not risking the recent big gains from Tim and Jason, which jhomes87 mentioned (though I agree that Tim might have peaked this week since his gains were absolutely off-the-wall) and they have decided to not play nice here. Then again, today was more about Carrie's song not having a good day in gains, then it was Warner putting pedal to the metal, even though 91 spins is a heftier increase from "Sangria" then I would have originally expected today. Sony knows that tomorrow's update is crucial.

The rolling chart is misleading in this case. The "Spins +" column on the rolling chart just tells us how many more or fewer spins a song received yesterday than it did seven days ago. In this case, Blake received 1047 spins last Friday, which was a considerably bad day for "Sangria," which had been receiving 1150-1180 spins a day, while Carrie received 1104 spins last Friday, which was also a bad day, but not quite as bad as Blake's. This Friday, 6/26, Blake received 1138 spins, which is still a bad day, but since it was 91 spins better than his previous Friday, the rolling chart shows a 91 spin gain. However, Carrie received 1157 spins yesterday, so she still had a better day than Blake, hence LTG being ahead on the building chart. Since LTG didn't have as bad a Friday last week, LTG's better day than Blake this past Friday only showed up as a 53 spin gain on the rolling chart. Therefore, the rolling chart makes it look like Blake is being pushed hard, but in reality Blake has really cooled off and is likely to concede the Mediabase #1 to Arista/Carrie this week.
I don't agree that Warner is pushing Blake here, and I don't see Tim or Jason as a threat at all. Blake's "Sangria" is clearly the biggest hit here and has not shown any signs of being endangered by the competition. It's got the strongest sales and has had a much nicer chart run than DRAOB and TLGOY have. Keep in mind, Blake passed Jason and Tim earlier on in their chart runs. Tim's been struggling for quite some time and I think his big gains this week were indicative of a final push done by Big Machine for a song that just wasn't strong enough to challenge for #1. I expect Big Machine to pull Tim next week with a #3 peak, and I don't see Jason taking over the top spot until the weekend of July 11/12. I think it's more likely that Blake will challenge for three weeks at #1 on Billboard than it is he'll have trouble fending off Jason Aldean. I think the race will be close this week, but I think Carrie will get her Mediabase #1 nonetheless.

Good for her. Not my favourite of hers by any means, but it's nice to see her get another #1 somewhere (and for two females to hit #1 within the same month).

Talk about a photo finish this week! Love that Carrie got there! I really don't think it was as close as you might think. Sure Blake barely took over #1 on MB yesterday, but his gains weren't that huge and yesterday was more of a surprise that Arista didn't get more spins gained than it was that Blake gained 90 spins. Today's update was exactly what I expected with Carrie's song getting well over 100 spins and claiming #1 on MB. I think what happened this week was Warner didn't really 'slow' "Sangria" down; they just continued on as normal and knew they had the Billboard #1 locked up, and if by chance they could grab MB, then awesome. But "Little Toy Guns" had the track to the MB #1 all along. I got a little uneasy yesterday since nothing is ever guaranteed, but I fully expected a big update from Carrie today.

Carrie and Sony consider "Inside Your Heaven" as a real #1, so that's the missing 19th #1 (albeit that one was a #1 on the all-genre Hot 100) When "See You Again" was #1, for example, Sony/Carrie sent out a press release that this was her 18th #1. That implies they counted "Inside Your Heaven" as a real #1. It'll be interesting if Sony/Carrie touts "Little Toy Guys" as her 19th career #1 or 21st career #1 on tomorrow's press release. I'm not sure if Sony counts "Somethin Bad" and "Something In The Water" as real #1s or not.

After seeing this it's awful to think that for my tastes she hasn't really had a good song since temporary home. Remind me was good but as a duet outside of those two songs she hasn't produced anything good in years in my opinion.

It's funny because the general consensus is literally the opposite of that. It seems most feel Carrie's best material has come from her "Blown Away" album; aka: her solo singles since "Remind Me"... I'm a sucker for her older stuff, too, especially "So Small". But musically, lyrically, and artistically, I'd have to say her best stuff eclectically has come during the "Blown Away" era and after.
But whatever! So proud of Carrie and her team, what an amazing ten years!

I'd consider "Inside Your Heaven" a real #1, too. Anything that hits the top of the Hot 100 is as real as it gets by the GP's view, and that's something that the vast majority of artists of any genre can't say they have.
Anyways, I'm so glad that another phenomenal single of hers has, once again, appropriately reflected its commercial and critical reception. This is a nice band-aid for the treatment that the equally-wonderful and both commercially and critically-praised "Something in the Water" received with its #3 peak. Super glad that her best material as of late has been reaching across the borders of this genre and beyond the textbook definition of "general success" in order to buoy her star even more. She's the most important star in the format today and one of the two most significant names for this genre to have on their back, along with Luke Bryan.

So is the consensus that she'll settle for the MB #1 and not push for the top spot on Billboard? And Blake will be #1 on both charts next week? (Or will it be Blake on MB and Tim on BB?)
Oh well, not what I predicted, but I don't understand the way her label works, and I need to accept that what I think is going to happen isn't. Enjoy the MB #1, and I think the odd chart peaks for her song reflect the label's eccentric (but still powerful) approach. She's an automatic competitor for #1 on both charts, whether or not the label has figured out how to make that happen, or cares at all to make it happen.

Well, from what I read, she has some radio promo next week too? Perhaps they may put some effort into getting a Billboard #1, too? I doubt it... but I read that she has a Bobby Bones interview on Tuesday...

I doubt that they keep going in hopes of securing the Billboard #1 here. I can't recall the last time that that happened (with any artist/label combo, not just Carrie/Arista). As soon as a song is officially #1 on Mediabase, 99% of the time it's gonna start dropping within the next day or two. However, if a song goes #1 on Billboard first (like "Sangria" will), then it always keeps climbing until it secures the Mediabase #1 as well. Hence why we have so many Mediabase-only #1's and no Billboard-only #1's. Labels want the Mediabase #1 because of the countdown shows.
Basically, if a song happens to go #1 on MB before it has a chance to get to #1 on BB, then it's unlikely that it'll ever get to #1 on BB at all. But if it gets to #1 on BB first, then it's virtually a lock to get to #1 on MB the next week.

Congrats, Queen Carrie. Another #1 added to her collection. I'm satisfied with Mediabase #1, but if there will be some more promo nexct week and we still can't get #1 BB, then i hope it will top mediabase for 2nd week.

A number one at Mediabase usually results in staggering losses in spins within 48 hours; Carrie's margin of 404 points will be gone by Tuesday or Wednesday at the absolute latest.

This mornings update has her losing probably about a million AI and almost 100 spins. I'll take the MB #1. This song had a good run. Ready for the the lead single off the new album!

This mornings update has her losing probably about a million AI and almost 100 spins. If by "probably about a million AI and almost 100 spins" you meant 45 spins and 455K in audience, then you're right. And if not, then the kind of losses you are talking about will surely be coming later this week, possibly as soon as tomorrow. So is the consensus that she'll settle for the MB #1 and not push for the top spot on Billboard? And Blake will be #1 on both charts next week? (Or will it be Blake on MB and Tim on BB?) Oh well, not what I predicted, but I don't understand the way her label works, and I need to accept that what I think is going to happen isn't. Enjoy the MB #1, and I think the odd chart peaks for her song reflect the label's eccentric (but still powerful) approach. She's an automatic competitor for #1 on both charts, whether or not the label has figured out how to make that happen, or cares at all to make it happen. The first confirmation that her label was focused on Mediabase only was last week's release of the acoustic version of "Little Toy Guns," which represented the extra "Little Toy Guns" spin on Country Countdown USA, as well as most if not all of the syndicated radio shows on which Carrie appeared for interviews in the past week. Those spins would count on Mediabase, but not for Billboard. Regarding the eccentricity of Sony's approach, I'm not sure it gets weirder than last summer's scenario in which Sony's slowing down of Chris Young's "Who I Am With You" in order to give Tyler Farr's "Whiskey in My Water" a Mediabase #1 converted Chris' near-guaranteed two-chart #1 into a Mediabase-only #1, and handed Joe Nichols' "Yeah" a three-week Billboard #1. But there have also been other instances (for example, when Brad's "Beat This Summer" missed the Billboard #1 by just 362K in audience after a negative Sunday update) that have indicated that Sony Nashville's promo team puts little to no priority on Billboard #1 hits. Something else to consider...it seems to me that Sony Nashville continues to rely more than other labels on artist interviews on syndicated programs and on individual radio stations for extra spins in the final push week than on across-the-board power rotation conversions. This may be specific to its female artists, and a reflection of the added difficulty in getting some of the larger markets to spin non-formula-chasing female songs in power rotation for the last few weeks of their respective chart runs. In any event, as a piece of songwriting "Little Toy Guns" represents the kind of progress that I want to see from Carrie, and I hope that her future music builds on its use of metaphors and scene-setting.
