$15 at the store today. For a time period where wages are not picking up that seems very expensive to me. I expect HBS will be her last solo hit of her career, and the album will struggle to pass 250,000. I hope she has duets in her future. She relies on producers for her hits and obviously they didn't deliver. If the right singles had been chosen, I'd be very happy with her career. Little to complain about from me. What store were you at? You were looking at the Deluxe, correct? The first week at retailers always has the cheapest prices. Target circular: Kelly Clarkson $9.99 (Deluxe $14.99) BestBuy.com: Kelly Clarkson $9.99 (Deluxe $14.99) These are normal first week prices. (Whenever someone complains about prices, I'm reminded of ArtPop. $15.99 at Target and $17.99 at Best Buy. Deliberate label sabotage.)

Ariana's album last fall was priced at $17.99 at Target for the regular version. I literally thought I was in the 90s shopping at Coconuts. That had to be the Target exclusive. Most current albums are $11.99-$13.99 at Target. (Same at Best Buy)

Imagine if Kelly gets the #1 selling album, but loses out the #1 on the Billboard 200. It would be the first real casualty of the new system.

The new system has already seen different #1's atop the BB200 and Top Album Sales But only with Taylor Swift and a NOW compilation album, which isn't that notable since 1989 already spent several weeks at #1.

If that 50 Shades sdtk. blocks KC from #1, the stans will have to c-c-c-catch their breath!

So RCA, how about quickly moving to lower the price on Amazon.com so more people will buy the album and she can gain that #1???

So RCA, how about quickly moving to lower the price on Amazon.com so more people will buy the album and she can gain that #1??? These labels are so greedy. Last year Mariah's album was 13.99 at Best Buy for the standard edition in its debut week. I refused to buy it when 9.99 is the norm. Cut to me getting my label buddy to send me a free promo copy.

Brandi's total is pretty good! it is! She's going to sell half as much as Kelly without near the level of fame, a hit, or big promo.

Ugh, I hope KC can pull this out! At least the label is going for the #1. Aside from performing one song from the album on GMA, there's really been nothing to spotlight the album in the U.S. I feel like it was rushed because it's the last album on her contract.

I feel like Kelly will pull in 90-100k... If her GH and her Christmas album debuted around 60-70k iirc then I think 90-100 isn't reaching.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6494777/brandi-carlile-top-10-debut-billboard-200-chartBrandi Carlile Aiming for Top 10 Debut on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | March 06, 2015 9:25 PM EST Singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile is aiming for her second top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as The Firewatcher's Daughter could debut in the region next week. Industry forecasters suggest the set, which was released on March 3 through ATO Records, may earn about 40,000 in equivalent album units in the week ending March 8. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, March 11. The Firewatcher's Daughter is Carlile's first release for ATO Records after a string of release for Columbia Records, including her first top 10 set: 2012's Bear Creek (which debuted and peaked at No. 10). The only other title that will likely debut in the top 10 next week is Kelly Clarkson's Piece by Piece, which is heading for the top two. The RCA Records release might bow with around 90,000 units.

So it's basically a 50/50 chance Kelly will get #1. If she debuts at #2 I believe it will be her third #2 peaking album just like she's had 2 #1 albums and the rest have been top 3. Rrrr would so prefer it to be her third #1 album vs #2. :/. Hoping she can barely squeeze it out! I think it she somehow does closer to 95kish with sales it's in the bag. Still wish it was just raw sales.

No one will stop Madonna next week (unless someone does a surprise release)

^Well, there's a Luke Bryan EP and the Empire soundtrack, which should have decent debuts. I wouldn't mind a contest between Madonna and Empire- music from the hottest show on TV right now, vs. an act who released her first album nearly 32 years ago. :)
On a related note, since they are under the Universal Music group, like Madonna, I don't think we'll see any "surprise" album releases from the likes of Kanye West and Rihanna, at the least.

I can't even imagine the shit storm that would be this site if Kanye surprised dropped an album the same week as Madonna.

I would not be surprised if the Empire soundtrack winds up opening with big numbers given the ratings that show has.

Would be highly surprising if Mr. West released his album during Madonna's release week- not just because they're both under Universal Music, but also because of how tight they've become. :) I don't think anyone should think it's automatic that Madonna's album will end up on top- sure, it has strong pre-orders and should debut decently enough, but we've seen some surprising stuff happen in recent times. Hopefully Clarkson's album comes out on top- unlike last year, it's good to see a number of different albums taking turns on top (not that I minded the dominance of Frozen hehe)

Pretty sure no Kanye surprise release next week at least, but "Wolves" (the album opener featuring Sia and Vic Mensa) is scheduled for release.
