The only reason it's flopping is because she has like 3 other singles overtaking it. This is pretty obvious. The calvin harris song and needed me is killing the song. hope it gets revived. sales and streaming are quite low

This is just another CKB unfortunately. Once "Cheers" was released it was quickly forgotten.

It's May... summer's basically here... KIB isn't exactly a prime Rihanna summer POP song. I think it's good - but I don't think it's this mega-smash that some of you think it is, regardless of timing. Relative to the rest of the album, yes, it's a smash... but in competition with other songs at Pop radio... not so much.

It was obvious what the breakout hit of the album was almost immediately upon release, and it wasn't this. With the way this was dumped out with it concurrently, it was always destined to get swallowed up by Needed Me.

It definitely has the capability to go Top 10 WW with ease had it been treated rightfully. The vibe of the song is perfect for summer, too. People would love it. It's just being overshadowed. Maybe it wouldn't be her biggest hit ever, but no one's saying that...

The weird hater liking 1% contrarian posts, exit the thread.
It's such a summery song! I do hope a Billboard Music Awards performance can breathe life into it. We'll see, not expecting it.

She's performing at the BBMA's but honestly she probably shouldnt waste anymore time on this.
A Needed Me/TIWYCF mashup with a play on the "youuuuuuuu" of both songs.

Yeah...this is over and it doesn't really make sense to waste a performance on it at this point. I would be fine with Needed Me or TIWYCF.

I'm still wondering if there was a contractual obligation to release this as a single if it made the album, especially when you consider that they shot the video for this before Work.
Although rapid single releases have always been part of Rihanna's strategy, they never literally released two at the same time like they did with this. Given that Needed Me was already rising on its own, they already had a success to fall back on if this fizzled. It's pretty much a perfect opportunity to stick it to John Glass after the rant last year and cover their own ass. And this is before the Calvin single was even in the picture presumably.

The only thing is she was going to perform this on the Grammys, which means (at least at one point) they wanted this to do some damage.

The only thing is she was going to perform this on the Grammys, which means (at least at one point) they wanted this to do some damage. True, but that (at least when they started rehearsing and made the choice of what to perform) was before Work became as massive as it did and the fate of the album chart wise was still up in the air after the release had to be pushed up due to the leak. Needed Me had also yet to really reveal itself as a sleeper hit and could have been an album track that charted in the lower regions. At that time, if they were obligated to release this, it may have been their last shot if Work didn't turn out to be a big hit. By the time this was sent, Work was colossal, the album had settled into a steady chart run in the upper region, and it was clear that Needed Me was taking off with the public on its own regardless, so this had gone from potentially the last big shot to an afterthought.

While I understand the stance that performing this is a waste of time in terms of maximizing chart performance for the singles that are doing well, it's certainly not a waste of time for the album. It's great exposure for album sales. Some of us contend it's one of the greatest song she's ever recorded, so even if it's not a radio hit, a high-profile performance of it should sells some albums... if it's as good of a song as some of us think. Plus, it allows people to hear a song they'd otherwise probably not hear. No harm, no foul.

It's never too late for a performance of this song. Never.
I want her to perform this at the BBMAs.

"Kiss It Better" isn't selling all that well and isn't streaming all that well? I also think this would make a boring performance. I like "Kiss It Better" but I don't hear the masterpiece so many here do.

I don't understand why the greatest song of all time is flopping this bad but frankly idc anymore cause it still gives me chills so many months later. I guess it's just too good and avant garde for the basics of the world.

I don't care what Rihanna performs on TV, but she needs to send Needed Me to pop radio asap. Kiss It Better has a negative bullet on pop now so I think it's fair to say it's peaked, and sending Needed Me for adds won't hurt it at this stage since it's declining anyway.
It might be going top 10 on the Hot 100 on Monday so if it does they could send out an advert saying the song is "Already a top 10 hit" to get more pop stations to add it.
For Kiss It Better they could try sending it for HAC adds if they want to continue promoting it, and get a TV performance it they can.

California king bed and man down released a week apart . Stay and pour it up were released a day apart Yes they were released practically at the same time but all those songs are different from each other. It's not like Urban was going to jump on "California and Stay" "Kiss It Better" and "Needed Me" aren't to far of a stretch from each other. I think that's most of the reason people were confused with this release. Then throw in the Calvin track and it really seemed pointless to release "Kiss It Better" along with "Needed Me".
