After a dozen weeks on the Mediabase top 50 chart as of this Saturday, I agree that this wonderful tune isn't going anywhere but up; Stoney Creek's promotion team knows this as well as any label in Nashville, and 25+ week long chart runs are nothing new for them.
I expect to here this great song right through the Christmas season and well into 2016.

Marv: Wonderful tune? What're you listening to? All I hear is Randy Houser trying and failing to be Luke Bryan.

While this is one of my least favorite Houser singles, I just want this to move up far enough on this charts so they will release the new album...as someone who LOVED the How Country Feels era, I am more than ready for new music.

Marv: Wonderful tune? What're you listening to? All I hear is Randy Houser trying and failing to be Luke Bryan. I don't hear that comparison at all, and I see it being brought up multiple times in this thread. I can't think of any Luke Bryan singles that sounds sonicaly similar to this one. To me, this just sounds like an alteration of Randy's biggest hit "Runnin' Outta Moonlight" and Keith Urban's "Cop Car". Quite frankly, I find this to be better than Luke's 2 recent singles as well, even though I enjoy "Strip It Down" quite a bit. And jhomes87 I'm surprised you feel this one doesn't sound country. I won't argue its as country as old school Haggard or Waylon, but I can't really hear any other genres mixed into this one. There's a slight rock influence I suppose, but that's pretty much the way most country songs have been the past 5 years since Jason Aldean rose to fame with his amped-up guitars. Obviously if you can't tell, I'm a fan of this one. I love Randy's vocals on this one, especially the way he begins the chorus. Personally for me, this was exactly the kind of song I was hoping we'd get to lead off Randy's new album. Radio's response to this tune has really been frustrating, but the sales have me feeling pretty god about its future chances. I too can see this one being a 35 week chart topper.

I too am excited for the upcoming album. His debut was pretty good, but "They Call Me Cadillac" and "How Country Feels" were both stellar. Not sure you can find a better voice in country music.

I don't understand how so many people hate this one.
It's a bit stripped down to me--it's not anything close to the loud, overproduced nonsense we've been hearing from the likes of Canaan Smith, Thomas Rhett, or Brett Eldredge.
Randy nails the vocals as usual. It's got a memorable melody throughout the chorus.
Luke would never record anything like this, so I don't see that argument. Any songs that Luke centers around a driving beat are much more funky or hip-hoppy. This song is neither. It is loud and has a certain level of bravery but also a subtle feeling of fear in it.
This is a Bonnie and Clyde love song.

Luke's voice is pretty mediocre IMHO compared to Randy's, and that Song of the Year nomination from the CMA folks was flat-out wonderful as I stated earlier.
Most of the very best songs on CT40 are stuck in the lower echelons of the charts compared to an awful top ten minus Carrie as well as Maddie & Tae IMHO, and this is one of my favorite singles on the entire survey.

And of course we HAVE to mention that spot that nobody knows where they'll........you get it. And the references to running from blue lights is just an attempt to make this "edgy" when really it just comes across as dumb. They don't even give a reason as to why they're running from the cops. Randy is capable of so much more and his talent is just wasted here.

I think what makes me love this song is Randy's high energy performance sure the lyrics are cliche but Randy sounds like he's having a great time and he gives a really good vocal performance. Not to mention how catchy it is.

I don't need everything to be spelled out for me in a song, and this way leaves some room for interpretation. It allows the listener to maybe guess what the couple did, and imagine their own scenarios.

I don't either, and I also like vague meanings in certain songs, but even still, to me it's like they were trying to give this an "outlaw" vibe and for me, it just comes across as laughable. And of course like any true country song in 2015, we conclude with a romp in a field that nobody else knows. Randy is capable of so much more IMO.

This has really grown on me lately...I hope to hear news about an upcoming album soon. He's been singing (and crushing) "Stay With Me" (the Sam Smith song) at concerts regularly, would love to see that on the album...

Randy Houser has no business 'trying' to be Luke Bryan, and I can think of no remotely intelligent reason why he'd want to do so given the quality of his music, and his superb 'How Country Feels' CD which I still play the heck out of, and especially 'Runnin' Outta Moonlight'.
His voice is extremely compelling to me, and as I said earlier, I expect this wonderful tune to slowly climb the charts well into 2016, and with 30-35+ week long chart runs pretty common these days, there are already several of standout tunes on CT40 with 20+ weeks on the charts, so look for this standout out tune to join the club in the not-too-distant future.
I'm delighted he's made the top 20, and I expect to be hearing this locally as well as on CT40 well into 2016.

This one is growing on me. The production isn't heavy-handed like it could be, Randy still has killer pipes, the melody is catchy, and the lyrics have some flashes of decency here and there. I still can't help but hear the "Country Girl (Shake It for Me)" groove in there though.

Ah...would've been a good place to look first. I just saw this and threw it up before class started.

"Little Bit Older" is available for purchase on iTunes as well. It's pretty 90s/early 2000s sounding.

Really digging "A Little Bit Older". I could see that as a future radio song. Definitely a good country song. And of course the vocals are great.

Sorry for the double post, but had a friend (who went to Randys concert last week) tell me that Houser said "Little Bit Older" will be the next single.

"Little Bit Older" is definitely a lot better than the lead single. The melody is good and the chorus is pretty strong. I think Gretchen Wilson did the pun for Budweiser better with "One Bud Wiser" but this one's decent enough and won't make me wanna change the station like "We Went" does.

Stoney Creek is requesting "#1 Max Spins" for this from 28 February through 6 March, which matches up with the CCUSA co-hosting schedule (Houser co-hosts CCUSA next weekend, 5-6 March). "We Went" starts this week a mere 301 points behind "Heartbeat" on Mediabase and 1.938 million AIs behind "Heartbeat" on Billboard, so I guess it is conceding this week to either "Break On Me" (which starts the week 431 points behind "We Went" on Mediabase and 703K AIs behind "We Went" at Billboard) or to "Heartbeat." I suppose Stoney Creek could see and seize an opportunity with a push this week, though.
"We Went" is another example of a low impact radio single -- it sits all the way down at #29 on the latest Billboard Country Digital Songs chart with 247K downloads accumulated over a 38-week run -- an average of just 6.5K downloads per week. It has, predictably, done its job at radio and it is getting Houser's album out. But it doesn't appear to me that "We Went" has done much to drive interest in Randy Houser as an artist, and I will be surprised if that doesn't show in his album sales.

Definitely not what "How Country Feels" was, as that song really created some buzz for the album back in 2013. But I do believe "Little Bit Older" will be bigger than this song. Has smash hit written all over it.

I'm a little worried about Randy's future prospects this album cycle. The genre has changed a bit since his last album came out, and I'm worried Randy could become a forgotten artist. I was hoping the second single would be something that screamed mega hit, and I'm not sure "Little Bit Older" is that song. Its a good solid song that is a safe radio choice, but I'm not sure its something that will help keep his career relevant. I'm hoping I'm wrong.
