Artist: Florida Georgia Line Single: "Anything Goes" Writers: Felix McTeigue, Chris Tompkins, Craig Wiseman Album: Anything GoesLabel: Republic Nashville Add Date: June 15th, 2015 Driving to my physical therapy appointment this afternoon, I heard this introduced as FGL's latest release on The Highway (first time hearing on their station actually). Don't know if they've been playing it for a couple weeks and I just didn't notice or if they literally just added it ( carriekins may know, lol). As was already pointed out by avalyn in the "Sippin' On Fire" thread, this song has been announced as the next single and the music video has already been shot at recent stops on their Anything Goes concert. I think I do a half-way decent job at keeping the threads I start up to date, so I'll take one for the team by starting an FGL thread, lol. Today was my first time hearing this. I was thinking this would be a change of pace from the "Alabama on the boom box" intro, but as soon as the instrumentation started I went, "Ah, another Joey Moi masterpiece." Chart Run: 43* - 39* - 35* - 32* - 29* - 24* - 22* - 17* - 15* - 14* - 13* - 11* - 11* - 7* (Mediabase)

A hot Joey Moi overproduced mess. Let's hope this derails their momentum. Please I mean how many more terrible songs do these guys have to release before they start losing momentum.

Well when those terrible songs keep going at least Gold and they keep selling out all their shows, they're probably not going to lose any momentum anytime soon. There is still a demand for Florida Georgia Line right now, so they will continue to have chart success, it's that simple. Anyways, I've enjoyed this song a lot since the album came out. In fact, it's the second best song on the album after "Confession" IMO. I surprisingly like the vocal effects on this one, even though I usually find auto-tune in country songs grating. This song sounds the most like the material on their last album, so I think this will go over well with their die hard fans. I'd be shocked if this wasn't another easy #1 for them.

^Well you have to figure they'll keep pushing boundaries until a "Donkey happens. I can hope can't I?

^Well you have to figure they'll keep pushing boundaries until a "Donkey happens. I can hope can't I? They haven't really pushed any boundaries yet though. "Sun Daze" was a little raunchy, but they were smart enough to have an edit of that for radio. I guess "Stay" was a little rock leaning, but besides those they haven't pushed country radio's boundaries at all, instead releasing songs that fit right in radio's wheelhouse. I will give you this though, no one really knows when the bottom falls out for an artist, so anything is possible. I think their safe for sure this album cycle, but perhaps by album #3 people could be fatigued by them. I'm certainly not betting on it, but I guess "anything can go" (see what I did there?).

^ Really This Is How We Roll wasn't risky.
Well who knows this could grow on me and I could say in the end it's mediocre. (Like Sipping On Fire)

Haven't been in the car like at all this week, sorry sabre14. (When I saw this notification I was like, "why am I being tagged in an FGL thread?!?!?) Regardless, yay or something.

This song features some of my least favorite lyrics in recent memory:
Phone blowing up where you is Baby sayin baby, let's do this

Sigh. A continuation of "Sippin' on Fire".
Somebody please, do me a favor. Go listen to 5 songs off the first album. Any 5.
Now listen to "Tell Me How You Like It" on that album. Hear the sound difference? There's a certain *feel* to that song that the other songs don't really have. Now listen to the handful of songs on the re-release deluxe. With the exception of "This is How We Roll", they ALL have that *feel*.
Now pick any song on this second album with the exception of "Dirt" and "Sun Daze". They ALL feel the same. Right? What is it? Why can't I figure it out? The whole second album just feels like a continuation of "Tell Me How You Like It" which was my LEAST favorite song from the first album.
I mean, aside from the production...if you listen to "Cruise", "Round Here", "Get Your Shine On", "It'z Just What We Do", "Tip It Back", "Party People", "Hell Raisin' Heat of the Summer", they ALL sound somewhat unique and happy. The new songs sound dreary and dark and far too similar.

I actually liked some of their first album, but I agree that the new album sounds very similar, and just not great. I guess this was to be expected as the next single, and I'm sure it'll be another huge hit, but it's really nothing special to me. Not necessarily bad, just....blah.

(facepalm)
Nothing says country music in 2015, quite like two confused white boys spouting Ebonics.
This is why the aliens won't speak to us.

Other than Dirt, most of FGL songs sound alike in many ways. I agree 100%-this started and I thought "I've heard this song several times before". It sounds exactly like all their other stuff in theme, vocals, instrumentation. I don't mind different-really liked Cruise for that reason, Dirt was listenable and I love their duet with Jake Owen Summer Jam (my station played it constantly last summer and started up this summer again)-although Jake has most of those vocals. Can't imagine this same exact sound and meme will stay popular for a lot longer

Honestly I'm so excited to hear this on the radio nonstop for the rest of summer! This one, Confession, Bumpin' the Night and Smoke are my favorites that they haven't released as singles. Perfect summer jam. (Y'all should know by now that I'm a huge fan of these two!)

Great choice and will without a doubt be a huge summertime hit. I'm so-so with FGL these days, but this is definitely a great track for what it is worth.

Can we vote these guys off the island? An island would depict that we live in a country music utopia right now. Sadly, in reality it's more like a sinking ship

Can we vote these guys off the island? Only if we can confiscate any and all floating devices first.

My guess is "immediate adds." I figured that as well. Perhaps we'll get a phantom add date just to say they gave it one. I expect "Anything Goes" will get significant adds starting next Monday.

I sit here silently whispering "...but, Smoke...Confession...much better songs..." This guy^ knows what's up, although Anything Goes isn't a bad song and will easily hit #1. It's taking up valuable space from a game changer such as Smoke, Confession, or even Angel and Like You Ain't Even Gone! Come on FGL...wake up and get out of your comfort zone with radio!

The ad in Aircheck has this going for "immediate airplay", which was expected. What wasn't expected was Republic Nashville rolling out a larger version of that horrendous cover art from when "Sippin' On Fire" was first sent to radio. Red font on a black backdrop is terrible.

Yeah, that font/color choice was off. As for this single's art, they're just using the album cover art. Also, according to Aircheck, June 15 is the official add date (same as KU). So basically, "Immediate."

I like this song; it's quite catchy and some of the lyrics are “nifty" in my opinion
Of course I would have preferred Confessions as the single choice but oh well
