Like carriekins said, this song was first played on The Bobby Bones show and iHeartMedia decided to select it as their next "On The Verge" single after the sales exploded. It's been unfortunate that Kacey can't get significant airplay but in terms of Mickey's song, yes she got those big 79 first week adds, but "Better Than You Left Me" didn't test all that well and the stations who did add her song kept it in low rotation (why it has stalled), and her song didn't and still isn't selling near as well as "Burning House." We can obviously debate 'til we're blue in the fact which song is better ("Better Than You Left Me" or "Burning House") but fans do want to hear "Burning House" as its currently #16 on the country iTunes chart and #64 on the all-genre chart -- which is fabulous for a song in the 30's on the MB chart. "On The Verge" is a new program where the executives of iHeartMedia selects a certain song and artist every two months or so to put into a minimum amount of rotation on all their monitored stations. The result is a fast climb to the top 30 -- so her quick rise at radio was to be expected. I understand that part, but my comments were more geared toward people's high opinions of this song. I just don't get what is so great about it, but obviously that's subjective and just my personal opinion. You pointed out Kacey and Mickey's singles, so I was just elaborating on that aspect. Song taste is certainly diverse though and I understand why someone wouldn't care for this particular song.

I just don't get what is so great about it, but obviously that's subjective and just my personal opinion. But you also expressed that you were surprised that radio was jumping on this over other female-led singles from newcomers, so they were simply explaining that there's evidence that a lot of people are loving this song already, so the airplay isn't really unwarranted. You're free to dislike it though of course if that's your opinion of it, lol.

I thought "My Mistake" was an excellent song that was a smash waiting to happen, but this one is even better. Excellent off-kilter yet meaningful lyrics, a creative metaphor, distinct yet minimal production, and a strong voice. If On the Verge must give certain songs a shot in the arm, then let it be a song as exceptional as this.

Personally one of my favorite touches of this song is the actual fire crackling you can hear in the background! :)

Wow, up some 5.33 million audience impressions so far...just outstanding. I can't say how much I love this song and want it to reach the top.

I've really been getting around to this recently, and it has become one of my favorite country songs of the year (along with "Girl Crush" and "Take Your Time"). I love that a song this simple (in terms of production) is getting success on the charts even though the success is owed to the On the Verge program, especially when many songs have loud production. I personally don't mind the overproduction in country songs, but I know many people on Pulse aren't too fond of overproduced songs so...

I heard this on the radio for the first time tonight while driving and it was so haunting. Every time I listen to it I find some new, little nuance in the production or I interpret the lyrics a little differently. The imagery in the beginning and the powerful chorus make this one of my favorites of the year.
Also #50 all-genre on iTunes!

Just got a PR about a video series and it looks like Cam's getting a full-fleged pop promotion with "Burning House" too. She's listed by the label PR as a Arista Nashville/RCA Records artist now. Not surprised given her co-producers, co-writers are both pop guys.

This one took a nasty hit today, losing more than 600k in audience. It's selling extremely well so I'm hoping that this is just a blip, now that the OTV program is over (for this song, that is).
"Burning House" is #10 overall on the Bullseye Callout Wave dated 08/18. Songs like "Crash And Burn", "Break Up With Him", and "House Party" have higher dislikes than Cam does, yet none of them have struggled at radio in the slightest. Over on Callout America, Cam is at #15 overall, with dislike scores that are pretty average when compared to the other 34 songs. On RadioFeedback she's #22 out of 40, and again, her dislike scores are pretty much middle of the road there.
In short, I don't see any glaring issues on any of those national callout surveys...sometimes a song might have high negatives ("Girl Crush" certainly did) which can cause it to struggle at radio, but that doesn't seem to be a problem with "Burning House". A few other OTV songs slowed up in the 20's right after the 6 weeks were up, so I'm hopeful that Cam can rebound.

"Burning House" has lost nearly 1.2 million in audience so far this week, yet has only lost 11 total spins, which means that a big audience station(s) have contributed to the audience losses (Westwood One, KKBQ, KUBL). I can't say if Westwood One dropped this song's audience the past week since I can't access their playlist right now, ugh.
It's a nasty one day update though, so it certainly isn't good for this song. I'm not saying I expected this to get to #1 even with the sales and OTV, since I know this song isn't what radio has liked to play lately, but I am fearful that this one might have a rough go at it in the teens, even if the call-out and listener feedback scores are middle of the road.
Cam needs to start rebounding though as she has lost audience the past five days on MB.

Radio will likely ditch this now that OTV is over. Sad...

I've grown to love this song. I always liked it, but it got better with each listen. I never really paid attention to "My Mistake" and I'm not sure why, because I absolutely love it- especially the chorus. I like her voice quite a bit. She has a very pleasant quality to her voice. I need to check her EP out.

I'm finally hearing this on the radio now, and suddenly a lot all at once, lol. At least one of the stations here loved "My Mistake" so I'd actually heard that one far more than I've heard this one yet, but I expect that to start changing soon. Really hope that the falter in airplay is a temporary trend and this gets back to smashing its way up the charts. If the callout continues to not be condemning and the sales stay excellent, I see no reason why radio should or would drop this.

could just be me, but honestly it's pretty silly to complain about him not knowing about a song that didn't even make the top 50 and a good amount of people have probably not heard about
anyways to actually be on topic, I really like the song and it's really good to see it do this well and hopefully it will do more soon :)

Maybe it's the crazy in me. I do hope Cam can rebound soon this song is too beautiful to leave so soon.

This is giving me acoustic Miranda Lambert vibes and I'm loving it! Really hope this can hold on for a top 15 (preferably top 10) peak.

I really want radio to continue supporting this song. They really can't ignore it, as the sales are overwhelming. It doesn't seem to be moving much on the charts, so I'm hoping radio will hold on to this. Such a breath of fresh air to have such a superb song in this current climate.

I first heard this when it debuted on Bobby Bones and I was blown away. I think the appeal of it for me comes from two things. First the acoustic playing is really nice. Reminds me of the Beatles Blackbird. And I'm not even a big Beatles fan! Second, Cam has what I call a captivating voice. It just makes you want to listen. Part of it is the voice itself (Kimberly Perry has a similar quality) and part is the production. It's not hide behind a wall of reverb so it feels like you're in the same room.

Man, I just can't get over how great this woman is. I played through her EP again today and wow....I love "Burning House" but I might love "Runaway Train" even more, which really speaks to the power of her input thus far.

I adore "Runaway Train" as well. Super excited for this woman's future in the industry. I so hope "Burning House" continues to rise and become a hit for her. Can't wait for a full-length album.

"Burning House" finally cracks the MB top 20 this week as it had its best week in a while, gaining over 200 spins and 1.7 million in audience.
