I actually feel like this one could do a little more than it did previously. I wouldn't at all be surprised if I was wrong, but I have a gut feeling that things are beginning to shift right now, even if just slightly.

I'm a little conflicted as to how I feel about this. I do really like the song, and feel it's probably her best chance at a hit from the album bit on the other hand, I'm slightly worried that the really 'Pro-Kacey' stations that have been playing it for months will be ready for a new single, and may not want to keep playing this as her current single for much longer. I wonder if something like the title track would have been a better choice, because it is still somewhat radio friendly as well as being a new single for stations that have already played "Dime Store Cowgirl" for months.

I would agree with you but I think this would make some sense on the approaching CMA Awards. No other song was going to do much of anything off this album anyway and only a small handful of MB stations (less than 30) were playing "Dime Store Cowgirl" and most of them were spinning it less than 10 times per week...plus, they were only spinning it for about two months anyway. This is really a nothing to lose move and I still doubt this is able to get much more airplay the rest of the year, but at least their giving radio something to consider playing with the awards show on the doorstep. It's not really a "re-release", just a wake-up call that radio does have a new Kacey song they can be spinning. Kacey just looks to be one of those artists that will continue to be successful on every single platform, except mainstream radio, which is just sad considering the accolades from her peers and the sales of her music.

Any chance this could chart this time around? There's a chance but its too early to tell whether or not it will. The problem is that the holidays are fast approaching and I seriously doubt stations will be playing this one at all come the new year, so its best for this one to make some headway now.

Anything happening with this at all? This likely won't chart before the year is over.

I've taken the liberty of moving the "Late to the Party" discussion into its own thread. The thread's in the News and Non-Singles sub-forum - I thought it better to put the thread in there rather than in the larger Non-Radio Singles forum because I didn't feel it'd be right to take it out of the Country forum, per se. In any event, the discussion certainly didn't belong in this thread still.
