Aw man I was hoping for Like A Song. Given Easton's lack of momentum to a point though this was a safe choice.

Absolutely hideous. I've always been an Easton fan, but I truly hope this does nothing.

This is basically "Yeah" reincarnated. I'm still surprised they're not going with "Are You With Me." We'll see what happens. Also, this one will have me thinking "Storage Wars" over and over again. YUUUUUUUUUPPPPP!

Great choice, and easily the best one IMO. This song is catchy, innocent, and will fit in perfectly with the current trend at radio despite his traditional leaning sound. I think this one could be a surprise hit like "Yeah" was for Joe Nichols. It'll probably take quite a few weeks until this is getting significant airplay, but if any song from this album was going to have a chance at being a solid follow up despite lackluster momentum, it's this one.

Great song and a great choice for radio. I love this melody and it is definitely more traditional leaning than not. The "yup" lines sound kinda stupid, but I say yup all the time so lol I'm not bothered. Really want this to do well for him! Will it most likely be a big hit? Yup Love this prediction. Hope you're right. :)

I've only given the new album a couple listens so far, but I love this one. Not sure if there were better options (I'd have to listen to the record more), but this is easily the best single from the era so far and I expect this to do pretty well. Aside from the title recalling "Yeah" from last year (one of my favorite singles in the past year), I think he sounds a bit like Joe Nichols in parts on this. The production and melody on this are also really interesting. I definitely enjoy this one a lot.

Not the best song on the album by a long shot, but a smart and logical choice as a single. Just Add Water was the other song that screamed single, but it would be illogical to release that knowing it wouldn't peak until winter. I think this could be a big hit though, and I certainly can see it selling better than BBMLS. The lyrics are predictable, but the production and melody are great. I hope it hits big and allows the label to be a bit more adventurous with the next single (like maybe "Like A Song")

Can't say this wasn't expected, and while I do like the song, I've kind of already experienced a high burn on it. I personally would have loved to a see a little bit of a riskier choice like "Wild Women & Whiskey" "Are You With Me" or "Like a Song" but I get why they went with this. (I probably would have gone with "Damn Girl" though.)
I am a little surprised they ultimately went with this as it's lagged behind other songs a bit in the post-album-release sales and streaming.

I kind of wanted "Are You With Me" as a single but he may have to wait til' he gets more momentum.

Sad to say that the song is awful.
But there's something I don't get. Clockwork was released in January 2014. Why did it take until late June 2015 to release the album?

Clockwork suffered terrible timing last summer when they were too many A-list releases (Bartender,American Kids,Drunk On A Plane,Where It's At,Meanwhile Back At Mama's,I Don't Dance.) All those releases buried Clockwork. Which led to a delay in the album. A lot of casualties that Summer LOTS. Let's see there's Clockwork,I Wish I Could Break Your Heart,What I Can't Put Down, Best Night Ever,Night You'll Never Forget. Loads of songs that just died in the 30s. That was a tough summer for artists.

It didn't do nearly well enough for an album release, at least not for someone like Easton who doesn't sell a whole lot.

Nope...
I had to, but I agree this will do well on radio (probably), if not my favorite song of his, I want it to succeed so "Are You With Me" can get a chart run.

I'm kine of surprised that a lot of people have compared this to "Yeah" as to me, they sound nothing alike. If anything, this is almost lyrically and thematically the same as "Aw Naw"

I actually think this is what you combine the annoying repeating the title in the chorus like Yeah. Also combining the laziness that Aw Naw showed. But I want Easton to do well I don't buy for one second that he is in his twilight years like I think someone on Country Perspective said. I think Easton just needs to get a little more momentum BBMLS was a start (to a point) lets see if he can keep it up.

I'm not really comparing them lyrically.

To me, the only thing that this and "Yeah" have in common is the fact that 'yeah' and 'yup' essentially mean the same thing. They don't sound alike to me at all. I can't stand "Yeah" so maybe that is clouding my judgement, but I listened to them back to back and really can't hear similarities. Not even vocally really. The arrangement of the two are quite different and I'd never confuse Easton's voice for Joe's or vice versa.

It doesn't matter what single he releases because he is country to the core! I was thinking they would go with "About To Get Real" as the next single. "Wild Women And Whiskey", "Kiss Me One More Time" or "Are You With Me" would be excellent single choices as well. Honestly though like I said this guy could sing the phone book and I'd listen.

Well I think there are moments (albeit few) where he sounds like Joe Nichols a bit, and maybe the connection between the two titles aids in making that link for me, but I do hear it personally. Normally he sounds quite a bit like George Strait, but I feel like he sings a little lower in parts of "Yup" that remind me of qualities in Joe's voice. I'm not pretending that the song nor its vocalist sound identical to "Yeah" by Joe Nichols.

Not quite sure how I feel about this choice. I've honestly come not to really like "Baby Be My Love Song" and was just thinking earlier today how I've liked it less and less after numerous listens (it's an easy skip on the radio for me). Not sure I hear any comparison's to Joe's "Yeah" at all, but I actually thought of Dustin Lynch's "Where It's At" (and not necessarily just because of the 'yup' line...they just sound similar in a round about way). Anyways, maybe this one will grow on me a bit but I don't think so. I'm not really feeling the direction Easton's music is going.

I personally enjoy this song a lot. I hope it's a smash hit. I could easily hear Joe Nichols singing this song as well.

I like this one well enough, but this is an incredibly disappointing single choice. Is it radio-friendly? Sure. But is anybody really going to remember this song a few years from now? I mean, what does it offer that other lighthearted radio-friendly tunes of the last few years haven't already offered? And how does this advance Easton's growth as an artist?
Admittedly, I don't think most of the material on About To Get Real (an album that I like, btw) does much to advance Easton's artistic growth. Unfortunately I never thought the strongest tracks ("Wild Women And Whiskey", "Are You With Me", or "Like A Song") were likely to receive much consideration, but I did at least have a little hope that WWAW or AYWM would've been chosen. It's just disappointing that labels so rarely take a risk and actually go with one of the strongest songs. Even though "Are You With Me" was on his last album, I really wanted it as the 2nd single because it's a great track and it's very memorable, and I think it brings something different to the table when it comes to 2015 country radio. "Wild Women and Whiskey" would've been my 2nd choice (mostly because I knew they'd never consider "Like A Song") because I think it has a chance to really stand out as well, and I could see such a song becoming surprisingly popular (similar to B&D's "Boot Scootin' Boogie"), even in this day and age (yes, I know this isn't the 90's anymore, but still).
And if they were so intent on releasing one of the more generic mainstream tracks, then I would've rather gotten "Kiss Me One More Time", "Guys and Girls", or "Damn Girl", as I find all 3 to be a little bit stronger than "Yup", and they all seem like they'd be more memorable. I really think that just titling a song "Yup" or "Yeah" or "Aw Naw" (etc) really hurts its chances of being remembered years down the road.
I'll be rooting for this and I hope it's a hit, and again, I do find this to be a pleasant listen and I even enjoy it for what it is...but I would've much rather had "Are You With Me", "Wild Women and Whiskey", or "Like A Song", and so I can't help but feel a little disappointed about Mercury's choice here.

I didn't really give negative feedback per se - the only song on Easton's album that I am likely to skip is "Diggin on You." I just expressed disappointment because, like Jaime also pointed out, there are stronger "safe" options on the album.

I did not at all care for Baby Be My Love Song and really disliked All Over The Road, so glad to hear something else coming along.
Must ask - what is the record for shortest song title in the country top 40?

That was quick ;)
With punctuation included, Easton could give that some competition then. Or at least be in the argument.
