I like this one well enough, but this is an incredibly disappointing single choice. Is it radio-friendly? Sure. But is anybody really going to remember this song a few years from now? I mean, what does it offer that other lighthearted radio-friendly tunes of the last few years haven't already offered? And how does this advance Easton's growth as an artist? Admittedly, I don't think most of the material on About To Get Real (an album that I like, btw) does much to advance Easton's artistic growth. Unfortunately I never thought the strongest tracks ("Wild Women And Whiskey", "Are You With Me", or "Like A Song") were likely to receive much consideration, but I did at least have a little hope that WWAW or AYWM would've been chosen. It's just disappointing that labels so rarely take a risk and actually go with one of the strongest songs. Even though "Are You With Me" was on his last album, I really wanted it as the 2nd single because it's a great track and it's very memorable, and I think it brings something different to the table when it comes to 2015 country radio. "Wild Women and Whiskey" would've been my 2nd choice (mostly because I knew they'd never consider "Like A Song") because I think it has a chance to really stand out as well, and I could see such a song becoming surprisingly popular (similar to B&D's "Boot Scootin' Boogie"), even in this day and age (yes, I know this isn't the 90's anymore, but still). And if they were so intent on releasing one of the more generic mainstream tracks, then I would've rather gotten "Kiss Me One More Time", "Guys and Girls", or "Damn Girl", as I find all 3 to be a little bit stronger than "Yup", and they all seem like they'd be more memorable. I really think that just titling a song "Yup" or "Yeah" or "Aw Naw" (etc) really hurts its chances of being remembered years down the road.I'll be rooting for this and I hope it's a hit, and again, I do find this to be a pleasant listen and I even enjoy it for what it is...but I would've much rather had "Are You With Me", "Wild Women and Whiskey", or "Like A Song", and so I can't help but feel a little disappointed about Mercury's choice here. 100% agree with everything you say here jhomes, especially those songs being remembered down the road. Safe. Lighthearted. Radio-friendly. But does nothing to advance his growth as an artist, which makes it disappointing.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one but the word "Yup" next to 'Radio Edit' makes me giggle, lol.
Of course it refers to the length of the song, but you can't edit the title of a song down much further than a simple "Yup."

Alright, now I've heard the album, this song and "Damn Girl" were probably the safest choices. IMO, there were better songs (the last five songs sans "Damn Girl"), but I understand the decision. I personally wanted "Like a Song".

Easton Corbin radio fodder is still better than the average country artist's radio fodder, and I'm supportive of him releasing whatever he can that'll keep him in the good graces of radio, because I could sadly see radio moving on from him quick if he messes up with unfriendly single choices. That aside, I do still like this song a lot so to me it's not a big sacrifice -- I like this a good bit better than "Clockwork" and "Baby Be My Love Song" at least.

I personally would have loved to a see a little bit of a riskier choice like "Wild Women & Whiskey" "Are You With Me" or "Like a Song" but I get why they went with this. (I probably would have gone with "Damn Girl" though.) Now if only the Lost Frequencies remix of "Are You With Me" would smash in the US... In that case, I think releasing "Are You With Me" would be really good, but other than that, I can only see Easton's team picking a safe song as a single, given how much momentum he has even after "Baby Be My Love Song" reaching the top 10.

That was quick ;) With punctuation included, Easton could give that some competition then. Or at least be in the argument. 21 - Hunter Hayes

Was definitely expecting this. Easton is in a great position for releasing material to escelate his live shows and with that comes releases such as Yup. I think it's a catchy song and will do well. I'm excited for when Guys and Girls gets released because I think that'll be a big hit for him.

This is decent...probably the worst song on the album though. Album track was one of the first things that came to mind when I heard this.

I like the song he just released today called lets ride and I realize it isn't an official single as this is the single, but why wasn't it just released as a track on the album?

Let's Ride was recorded for and is being distributed by Ram Trucks, like the song Miranda recently did ("Roots and Wings" I think?). Let's Ride is not on the album and is basically just a bonus song from Easton.

Thanks for the info I knew it had to do with ram trucks, I just wasn't aware they were that involved but at least it's promotion for him which always good.

"Yup" is the second most added song on MB this week with 35 adds on impact day (41 total).

Much as I really like this and think the album is stacked with potential radio hits, I'm a little sad that "Let's Ride" couldn't have somehow found a way onto the record/been the next single. That song just screams smash hit to me and I can't get enough of hearing it in those commercials. Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity to me, unfortunately. They still have great choices for radio on the album though so it's not a total loss, and I do really enjoy "Yup" as well. The commercial tie-in for Easton could've really been a nice plus for him though with "Let's Ride" beyond the mere catchiness of the track.

This is not a good choice for a single at all. I agree "let's Ride" would have been a much better option. Is it because "Let's Ride" is contracted to be used exclusively in the Dodge Ram ad campaign that precluded this from being sent to radio? I'm just afraid "Yup" will stunt whatever momentum Easton has built up making it very difficult to rebound from.

"Yup" is actually off to a fairly decent start at radio. 41 adds on impact day, and plenty of stations seem to be playing it. I don't think this is going to fly up the charts by any means, but I also don't see this as that much of a momentum-killer either. It's not risky in any way and if anything is giving radio exactly what they want.

I haven't heard this CD, but this is a real underwhelming choice for a single; it definitely didn't get my attention. If it gets to the top 20 and dies, that would be fine with me.

I really like Easton's vocals on this one, and the production is solid too. For me, the only problem is that the hook (Yup) is pretty weak. I've listened to this one a few more times hoping I could find a lyric that would have made for a better title (2-3 words at least), but there really isn't anything to work with other than "yup". It doesn't really take away from my enjoyment of the song, but I was a bit disheartened? (that's not the right word but it's close) to see 3 of the most-added songs this week be titled "Dibs", "Yup", and "Gonna". I think they'll all be hits (Kelsea's off to a particularly great start, Easton is doing quite well, and Blake is, well, Blake), but I do think it's rather unfortunate that they're all out at the same time.
I don't know, I guess when I think "country music" I think about really interesting/good lyrics, and most of the time the songs have stronger and more imaginative multi-word titles.
Another thing I realized about this one -- it's 3:13 in length, but the song is basically done by the 2:30 mark. The last 45 seconds or so are just an instrumental outro.
Again, I do enjoy this, but it's pretty much the definition of lightweight fluff, and I'm still bummed that UMG didn't go with "Are You With Me", "Wild Women And Whiskey", or "Like A Song".

For anyone who would like to dig a bit deeper, Stone Cold Steve Austin had him on his podcast that came out today, they discuss all of Easton's albums among many other things...Really cool listen, Easton emphasizes that "Are You With Me?" is a song he wants to be a single and that's why it was brought over to this album, also interesting to note some songs he discarded from the project and "Yup" among others were added on in their place.

I'm definitely getting the feeling that "Yup" is the exact sort of song country radio wanted as single #2 from this album. Easton's song has already broken the Billboard top 40 and is up 70 spins and over 600k in audience this week on MB. Its not selling great...but it is if you compare it to "Baby Be My Love Song". "Yup" has about 3.4 million in MB audience and sits at #459 on the all-genre chart while BBMLS at the same audience level wasn't even in the top 1500 of the all-genre chart.
This one won't exactly blaze up the chart but I think the start is rather encouraging.

This song is up there with Blake Shelton's "Gonna" as the most inoffensive and unmemorable songs on the charts. Both songs are basically about nothing and I can't remember what either song sounds like except for when the artist says the title.

It looks like "Yup" broke the MB top 40 this week, at #40.
Unfortunately, "Yup" has only gained 57 spins over the past five weeks and has actually lost 300k in total audience over that time frame. This song is only 14 weeks old on Billboard, so there's still time for this to become a hit for Easton but the month of October has not been kind in the update department.

I agree that things haven't been great lately. I think conversions have just been going to other bigger names. I think in the next month or so, he could see a jump up to the low 30s, but he does need to start picking things up. This song literally is about nothing, but I like it. I'm a fan of Easton and his style of music so I'm probably biased, but it's got a great groove to it. By comparison, "Baby Be My Love Song" was at #39 with 916 spins and 4.109m audience at the 57 day mark on MB. "Yup" is at #40 with 753 spins and 3.221m audience. Lower, but not too far off, unbelievably. "BBMLS" didn't hit the top 30 on Mediabase until its 104th day! :o

Easton Corbin is a very talented artist, and his latest album has a decent-sized handful of radio-ready material like the title track, "Kiss Me One More Time", and BBMLS. However, I find this to be one of the weakest links on the album, if not the weakest. With that in mind, I have a bad feeling that this will put a serious hamper on the momentum he got from BBMLS; I know he's not really a quick chart climber, but I don't really see this song connecting like his more recent hit did.
