Right, but it still doesn't make sense. This one has a bullet of 95 on Mediabase as of today, and it gained over 340k in audience over the last 7 days. I suppose it's possible that it actually lost audience on Billboard, and that it gained 100+ spins and 500k+ in audience on Mediabase-only stations, but that seems highly unlikely. This was most likely another glaring mistake on Billboard's part. I'm 99% sure of it.Edit: Nevermind, scratch that part above. After some digging, I found that Easton did gain 472k from Westwood One's Hot Country Station this week (12 first time spins there), so if you subtract that from 340k, then his 7-day net gain on Mediabase was actually about -130k. So he probably lost between 100k and 200k on Billboard, but still, he should have gotten a grace week. I'm pretty sure this one got 4 adds today, so I'm already anticipating another "Night's On Fire" / "(This Ain't No) Drunk Dial"-type of situation. Eh given the chart position week and position maybe the label will give up or Billboard was just sick of it and let it go. I doubt the label gives up on it, especially if it's still getting adds. And BB can't just get "sick of" a song and let it go. It's not a subjective thing.

I have doubts the label gave up but I just think that given the fact that "Yup" has done nothing for a while like it's been in the 35-37 for like 10 weeks now (I still believe Easton is in the twilight phase of his career not it has anything to do with) I also think BB got trigger happy but I could see them stubbornly not having Yup on the chart kinda like what we are seeing with Cold Beer Conversation that's just my take on that.

Billboard should not have sent this recurrent tonight. It doesn't matter that it hasn't really moved since October. What matters is that Billboard has made a string of really poor judgement calls (when it comes to applying the grace week rule), and if a song gained in spins for the week and only lost a tiny amount of audience, there's no way they can justify sending it recurrent. The fact that this probably won't be a hit (top 30 wasn't even looking lately) is a moot point. Billboard's chart should always reflect the state of current radio singles, and that's not the case here.

Mercury officially pulled promotion for "Yup" this week as Easton's song is down 100 spins and nearly 300k in audience today.
It went without a bullet on the past two Mediabase charts so this one will be sent recurrent on Sunday afternoon. It already went recurrent on Billboard a couple weeks ago.

I never really cared for this song. Hopefully they go for a 4th single. "Kiss Me One More Time" would be my choice to hopefully get his chart momentum back.

I think he's going to get one more shot at a lead single, and if it bombs I could see him being a candidate to get dropped from the label.

Mercury sent an email last week to fan club members and his mailing list asking which of four songs was their favorite. Kiss Me One More Time, Guys and Girls, and Are You With Me were three of the four offered.

I noticed the large number of negative spins for this song when checking the rolling Mediabase update today and I was just about to post about it. To be honest, I'm not really upset that this bombed because I wasn't the hugest fan of this song. There were much better choices on the album. Guys and Girls and About to Get Real are two that come to mind. Easton is one of my favorite current artists because of how neotraditional he is. Yes the new album isn't as neotraditional as the past two albums but sonically it still has traditional elements in there. In my opinion he mixes the old with the new on the album very well. With the genre changing, I understand why he put out a more fresh album. With the success of Stapleton lately though maybe that'll encourage him to put out a more traditional album but that's a whole other debate. Some of the songs on the new album are rather lyrically weak though compared to his past material. I saw Easton live over the summer and man is he good. His band is awesome too. His band has a steel guitarist and a fiddle player! Anyways, I hope Easton can regain his momentum back. He's very talented and deserves success.
