Unfortunately to those still holding out hope for "Two Night Town" being a single, I think its highly unlikely we get a 5th single from Old Boots, New Dirt. Jason said in a recent interview they hope to have a new single out in the spring with an album out sometime in the summer. Jason also said this next album will be more "rock-oriented" with big tempos. Source

^ That sucks to hear. What a waste of an era. Sure, everything here went #1, but aside from "Burnin' It Down", how have any of these songs actually furthered his career as an artist? I guess we can at least cheer that we won't get "Sweet Little Somethin'", but this is still just a disappointment of an era.

As a fan I wonder, how can he really go much more "rock"? He's essentially a rock artist with Country lyrics.

Lol @ the description of his next album. And I agree about this era being so uneventful and basic. Keeps furthering my belief that he's one of the most boring artists in the genre. zzzzz...

Although this clearly wasn't his biggest, most successful era, I still really wouldn't consider it a "waste." Just because all of the singles weren't massive hits doesn't mean that they weren't successful and believe it or not, there are some out there that have truly enjoyed each and every one! I'm excited to hear that he's in the works of yet another new album. Should be a big year coming up for Aldean whether you think he's boring or not.

But he had some great album tracks that'll remain just that. He wasted this era on radio friendly material that the average listener won't remember a year from now.

Should be a big year coming up for Aldean whether you think he's boring or not. I don't think a single person has ever doubted whether or not Aldean has been successful or that he won't have a big 2016. If some people think he's boring, then that's their own personal opinion. To be honest, "Gonna Know We Were Here" is my favorite of the four releases from this album but considering I hated the first single, thought the second was lyrically lame and the third was "boring", that's not saying much; although I find Jason's vocals on GKWWH to be more lively than some of his previous releases. I still long for the days of "Why", "Amarillo Sky" and "Laughed Until We Cried", though.

I definitely get what y'all are saying. Been a big fan of Jason since his early years, so I miss some of those songs too. And some of my favorite album tracks never saw the light of day (Wide Open and Texas Was You are some of my all time favorites) but there is no way these artists can make everyone happy these days. It's just not possible!

He keeps releasing stuff to radio that does him no favors at all. Aside from the lead single, this era has left little impact compared to his previous ones. He may not be able to please everyone, but he's obviously not pleasing very many with these single choices because they've been selling pretty poorly and he continues to cover absolutely no new ground with his single releases, which is the definition of boring, imo.

Seems like Jason might be in line to receive some help from "The freeze". Blake should be #1 on Billboard the next two weeks, and Jason is next in line right before the holidays. Talk about good luck at the top for these 2, considering bigger hit songs like "Buy Me A Boat", "Smoke Break", and Keith's lead single all had to settle for #2.

Hmm. Broken Bow put out a "Max Spins for #1" ad in Aircheck, but they want it to come the week of December 27th through January 3rd. They'll try to keep Jason's spins and audience leveled til then but this week is definitely Cam/Thomas Rhett.

If this does peak at #2, Jason Aldean will be added to the list of those artists with the most #2s.

I don't like this song's airplay being attempted to be leveled off for this long, at all. This is easily one of the least impactful top 5 singles over the past 2-3 years and a few years back this would be falling by now. Thomas' and Cam's songs are clearly the bigger hits and Thomas' should be the #1 song straight through the New Year.

I don't have to choose. It will peak wherever it does and when it does, I will update the appropriate thread. For the record, Jason Aldean will be the 55th artist added to the #2s list if it peaks there.

I'll put it to you this way: It has pained me to update the #2s thread over the past two years for four of Carrie Underwood's singles (Two Black Cadillacs, See You Again, Little Toy Guns, and Smoke Break). I would much rather put those on the #1s list. I would love to move Jason Aldean up on the #1s list versus putting him on the #2s list. As for Gonna Know We Were Here, it is another uninspiring choice of single. I know Aldean will be releasing an album n 2016. I hope his tastes have dramatically improved.

Hopefully Jason makes good on his promise to deliver more rock-style tunes on his new album. Luke didn't really follow through on his promise, and Jake Owen must have completely forgot about his discussion of "country" music before Real Life came out.
I didn't think this album was bad, but he pretty much picked the 4 worst/most uneventful songs as singles.
Could have made a good impact with: Two Night Town Too Fast Old Boots, New Dirt I Took it With Me If This Truck Could Talk etc.

This should be the week that Broken Bow attempts to get to #1 on Mediabase with "Gonna Know We Were Here" as they put the "Max spins for #1" in Aircheck on the 14th, for the week for December 27th through January 3rd. "Die A Happy Man" is ahead by a considerable amount on MB, as Thomas is up nearly 500 spins and 4.0 million in audience. It's going to be extremely difficult for Broken Bow to get to #1 with Thomas ahead by so much and Jason's airplay has been very high since Thanksgiving. "Gonna Know We Were Here" has been in the MB top 5 for over five weeks.

The singles choices for Let It Go were pretty dreadful as well, but Jason's voice is really irritating to me, and hitting high notes on many of his tunes makes them much less bearable IMHO as opposed to Tim's voice.

This has peaked at #2 and ends Jason's streak of five consecutive #1's! [#NotHappy] ;)

Jason would need an obscene increase of plays and AI to knock off Thomas Rhett. But yeah, let's wait for the official figures next Sunday and Monday.

I really don't want to see this pull a Canaan Smith. This song has been such a nonevent and honestly now I just want to see what Jason Aldean does the next album cycle. Thomas Rhett deserves the #1 on both charts more.

I think This Nothing Town (from his last album) would have been a better single choice than any of the 4 singles from his latest CD

I hope Thomas Rhett continues to block this and this non-event of a single finally goes away. The fact that it made it all the way to #2 should be celebrated, because with the impact it's made, it probably shouldn't have even made the Top 10.

Unfortunately, Jason's song has enough room to grow to reach #1 since the spins and audience went down so much over Christmas. Broken Bow still has five days remaining to get "Gonna Know We Were Here" to #1 on Mediabase and they took their first step today with Jason gaining 180 spins, with many of those spins coming from overnight hours. Valory could easily block Jason from both charts if they wanted to but they might decide not to go all out since Thomas' song will most certainly stay at the top spot a week from this upcoming Sunday/Monday.
