It sounds like he's got something caught in his throat for half the song - I respect the guy, but it's just really not my style

On the tangential topic of "goddamn drinks": I only just turned 19 a few weeks ago, so my experience with "goddamn drinks" is pretty limited. I mean, I'm a socially awkward math nerd who hangs out at the library and anime club. Partying's not my thing. I tried a sip of beer once and thought it was just really gross. I guess it's an acquired taste, but I have no desire to acquire that taste. I'll leave the goddamn drinks to ol' Nate and his Night Sweats.
On the main topic: Yeah, I still don't get the appeal of this song. I just...don't get it. I guess I can understand its success on AAA, but its Alt success is beyond me. However, I guess it's good to see some variety on the Alt chart. I'm not a fan of this song, but it at least it has a unique sound. I just can't see it going #1, but I've been wrong before.

. Once again not a terrible song. It has some sort of appeal but not on Alt charts. We might as well just have a polka dance in the alt charts too. Just imagine "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" on the Modern Rock charts in 1979. That's exactly what this is. WTF Alt x infinty.

I have no problem with songs like "S.O.B.", "Riptide" and "Sedona" charting on Alternative because at least they all have actual instruments and band playing. I personally view Alt as a rock format, and id prefer it stay that way. Stuff like "New Americana" and "Gooey" are just electronic songs becoming hits on Alt because they don't have a true format, and it's annoying for someone who wants Alt to be like the days when Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Alice In Chains were big format stars.

Wait - just to be fair, Gooey has all live instruments (including guitar, live drums, bass, and vibraphone) - Glass Animals are def. not electronic
Also, the Cure, Depeche Mode, New Order, etc. date even further back on Alternative than Pearl Jam and Nirvana, so much of the original Alt format sound did include synths

Given how much that song rules, that would be incredible...though you may be right to claim that I'm biased, being from the South and all.

This one burned on me fairly quickly surprisingly. I think if the second verse had more energy, I'd like it more. The verses are the weak link imo.
And yeah, I'm not a beer guy either lol.

This and Could've Been Me are the best rock songs I've heard in a while. My Alt station plays both of them all the time, and it's a breath of fresh air after three months of Renegades.

Regarding drinking, I don't drink a lot. I tasted beer before when I was young and it was bitter. I prefer wine to be honest. I'm turning 18 this year, the legal age of drinking in my country, but I don't plan to drink often after turning 18.

When I first turned 18 and went to college, I started drinking a lot more and it seemed more fun. Once I hit 23 though I realized alcohol isn't it's all cracked out to be, and as you get older it just causes more problems than solutions. I'm not anti-drinking anymore, but I certainly won't let it dictate my weekend anymore. If I do drink I now, I much prefer beer than liquor. For those who don't like beer, I'd recommend trying craft beers instead of generic light beer stuff.

I almost never drank, but now that I'm on special meds I can't drink at all. So yeah, I'm a blast at parties.

Drinking a lot is fun as long as other people are paying for it - otherwise, it's like throwing money away (that I can't afford)
BTW the lyrics to this really make no sense - at first it sounds like he's singing to his girlfriend who has passed away, and then he calls her an S. O. B. and asks her to help him get drunk

The important part I forgot to add is that I also love "The Devil Went Down To Giorgia", but would still feel its out of place if it was charting on Alt today. I love Hinder and Creed, but never really sold on to the idea that they fit on Alt charts. It was great to hear them on more radio stations, but kinda weird on Alt. BTW, this "SOB" is a huge break through on Alt Charts. I've never quite have heard anything like it on an Alternative rock radio station.

He's calling himself a "son of a bitch" for not being able to quit I believe, because why would you call your girlfriend an "S.O.B."? Lol. PS Pipa, this is why "bugs are crawlin' all over" him. ;)
