If this actually gets released to country radio without an edit, I will post a video of me eating my hat. I just can't imagine them actually releasing this.

Wow... I originally thought this was going to be a pop only single, but they're sending this to country as well...
ZBB was one of the last country acts I expected to release a song like this to country radio...

I would rather have had "Heavy Is The Head" as a country single than this even though Chris Cornell is singing with them on it.
Looks like we have a mess going on but what really can we do about it.

Would country radio actually play the album version of "Beautiful Drug"? Surely there must be a "country mix" of this song in the works?

Does anyone have a definitive word on where this is going?
AllAccess' iHeart recap implies it'll be sent to country and pop. Hits Daily Double's recap says country and rock.
I'd say the idea of sending this to rock sounds preposterous, but it's no more shocking than the idea of sending it to country.

All Access implies like you said but never says it will be crossed to pop, just that "they intend to cross from country." I would wait for more confirmation that HDD on which genre it will cross to. I would think pop though, I agree.

I miss when the genre was about music instead of money

"Heavy Is The Head" is the only ZBB song that I like. I don't like their music or vocals, even though they're incredibly talented musicians. This song is also probably one of their better ones, imo. Probably not something I'd go out of my way to listen to, but it wouldn't necessarily be an instant station changer either. It's not a song I'd really expect ZBB to release to country radio, but I'm not going to complain since I find it to be one of their more tolerable ones.
Take this next comment with a grain of salt since I'm not a fan of their country stuff, but I've realized that I'd much rather these guys record rock music straight across the board. I honestly think it suits Zac's voice better.

This thread is extremely premature since their current single won't be done until after Labor Day.

I can't believe this is the same guy who bashed Luke Bryan for having the worst song ever on country radio. Congrats Zac, not only are you a HUGE hypocrite, you've also stopped lower than his level.

Eh I'm not sold this is going to Country yet. All Access has made some goofs before, and this would seem like an easy time to make one considering country is ZBB's core format.

This reportedly came from Scott Borchetta himself at iHeartMedia's Music Summit. I agree though that it's not 100% set in stone. If it does get released as the official third single to country radio, I'm sure there will be a new country mixed version for the radio edit.

If this is in fact their next country single, there better be a damn remix. Otherwise, this is an immensely dissapointing decision.

If they make a country version of it then I could see it working. But if they release the album version, I could see it flopping big time. Just doesn't make sense for them to take the risk IMO. They already sell out stadiums and have a huge fan base. There are plenty of solid country songs on here that could be big hits. "Dress Blues" could be a timeless classic. Also, the theme of "Beautiful Drug" is pretty similar overall to "Loving You Easy", I wish they would switch it up.

I'm still not convinced that this will be a country single, but if "Beautiful Drug" does turn out to be their pick, I would expect a country version of the song that would sound much different than the album version (similar to the acoustic version of "Tomorrow Never Comes"). They have so many great country options on the album ("Dress Blues", "Bittersweet"), so I would be completely shocked and frustrated if "Beautiful Drug" was sent to country radio.

One of my favorites on the album. Thrilled with it getting released, but...wow @ it getting released to Country. Even Swift's WANEGBT had more of a Country sound to it than this does. I love the song and play it repeatedly, but a Country radio release? Bold. Methinks a remix is likely.

If your song needs a "country remix" to go to country radio, it doesn't begin there in the first place. And that goes for all artists. Period. I am just so over the genre-bending. I just don't think it's too much to ask that country music SOUND country in some way. Blah to ZBB. Blah to TBP. Blah to Thomas Rhett. Blah blah blah.

As much as I love their new album, releasing this song to country radio would be a beautiful disaster. I don't even know if they could pull off a country remix of this song. This song should be released to pop radio only.

I Can Drink to That All Night is way more country than this. That's My Kind of Night is way way way more country than this.

I just spoke to my friend in country radio who said he was told "Beautiful Drug" is being released to pop radio, but he has not been told what the next single to country radio will be.
I think everyone needs to calm down until there is some kind of an official statement.

Eh Frankie Ballard slowed down so far. I can see it playing out 3 ways Frankie 1 week ZBB 1 week ZBB 2 weeks blocking Frankie ZBB 1 week blocking Frankie Frankie Ballard has to get to the top next week as for ZBB I think they have plenty room to grow with Loving You Easy. As for this send it to pop and give us like Castaway.

Cool song, super catchy. Yes, not country, but if Sam Hunt can send House Party to country radio and Thomas Rhett can send Crash and Burn, then I think this has a good shot of being sent as-is too. I wouldn't mind a country version of it, but I won't be surprised when they send the album version based on what has happened recently.
Now, should they release a country version? Yep.
