Why do people think this would be top 5 after only 13 weeks on Mediabase? Maren is a newbie, not Carrie Underwood or Miranda Lambert! It's right where it should be after 13 weeks for a new artist.
The song got inflated airplay due the OTV boost. But once the radio deal is over, airplay levels are back to where it normally is for new artists. I think all this drama is much ado about nothing. Give this song another 13 weeks, and it'll peak in the top 2. I think it's expected that it'd take at least 26 weeks for a new artist to reach its peak position.

There's a ton of songs that have been hits without massive sales success.

There's a ton of songs that have been hits without massive sales success. Off the top of my head of low selling songs that did better than they should have. "Little Bit Of You" "Young & Crazy" "Hell Of A Night" "Wild Child" "Dibs" "Gonna" "Til It's Gone" "Just Getting Started" "Trouble" (considering how bad this sold I don't care how much I loved this song, it shouldn't have had a chance at the Top 20) "Country Nation" "Freestyle" "Already Calling You Mine" "Run Away With You" "Kiss You In The Morning". I believe that the songs that are selling more should be moving faster than the songs that aren't, I mean established stars should still move up fast as well. But songs like "My Church" shouldn't get passed by "That Don't Sound Like You", that just doesn't make any sense. Stuff that sells well in general tends to be the stuff that people want to hear.

The bolded part was what I was trying to convey. However, it can be argued that both Hell of a Night and Just Gettin' Started went Gold (I think Tonight Looks Good on You is eligible for Gold too), and I personally would replace these two songs with Tim McGraw's Top of the World and Aldean's Gonna Know We Were Here. ETA: Dibs just got certified Gold too

"My Church" was eligible to go recurrent on Mediabase this week (past two published charts went with no bullet) but Maren's song gained 113 spins and 800k in audience this week.
Things still aren't looking good though. Maren was passed by Blake and will soon be passed by both Luke and Thomas. It's a real battle for Columbia's promotion staff getting this up the chart.

I'm still not ready to let this one go. I know it's eligible to go recurrent now, but I feel it's still too early in its chart run to disappear altogether. It's still doing great on iTunes for a new song from a brand new artist. Hopefully, Columbia finds a way to make this go Top 10 (Top 5 preferably!)

It's still doing great on iTunes for a new song from a brand new artist. Hopefully, Columbia finds a way to make this go Top 10 (Top 5 preferably!) This has actually reached the top 10 already on Billboard Country Airplay. It hit #10 a few weeks back but since then it's gotten pushed back a few spots. "My Church" has certainly been struggling a bit these last few weeks, but it's not eligible to go recurrent for at least 3 weeks since it's only been on the chart for 15 weeks so far. And I think this song will last for another 4-6 weeks at least. Her album comes out the first week of June and I think there's a good chance this one will still be charting then. I don't know if it can go all the way to #1 but I do think a slower climb towards the top 5 is still doable. I think Maren's slowdown can mostly be attributed to all the big new releases that are blasting quickly towards the top 10, including the songs from Chris Young, Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, and Kenny Chesney.

This one ran into some unfortunate timing with all these heavy-hitters releasing singles around the same time, which set Maren back quite a bit, but I think her quick run up the chart and her being a new artist means that she can afford to hang around and resume going up once things settle down some. It's reasonable to assume that this one's run will get back on track soon in a couple weeks once all of the big competition has gone past and some of them start to descend, and as her impending album release approaches.

I agree with your reasoning as well since she's 1,100 spins ahead of Kenny Chesney now, so I wouldn't be surprised if both tunes reach the top 10 by Memorial Day which is six weeks from today.
Chesney will most likely pass her before then anyway.

The AirCheck Ad this week asks "convert heavy now" ... as for Chris Stapleton we are faced with a perplexing case ... big sales, big hype, but difficult to make inroads into radio ...

The AirCheck Ad this week asks "convert heavy now" That ad isn't surprising since Maren's song isn't overtly old and its selling very well. The ad though states "Top 10 Bound." A top 10 peak might be all this one gets. Its really struggling to achieve any significant audience and only gained another 100k in Mediabase audience today.

She should pass Rascal Flatts by the end of this week, so even if Kenny passes her by this weekend which is definitely possible, she's still 1,300+ spins ahead of the Keith Urban tune, so I still like her chances to reach the top 10 before that wretched Jason Aldean tune provides a threat.

Her label certainly knows how to 'work' a tune at country radio as well as any other, and she'll undoubtedly crack the top 10 as early as tomorrow thankfully passing Rascal Flatts either today or tomorrow and FGL by week's end.
Definitely looking forward to seeing whether or not her forthcoming debut CD continues the trend of superb debut CDs from several newcomers in recent years ranging from Sunny Sweeney to Kacey Musgraves among several others.
I'm inclined to think that I won't be disappointed.

Finally top 10 on Mediabase! It actually hit #10 on the rolling Mediabase chart and on the published Billboard chart at the very beginning of April, but then it got pushed back when Dierks, Dustin, Blake, Luke, Thomas, etc. all moved ahead. Maren was still increasing in airplay, but "My Church" definitely slowed down a lot, whereas those other artists were all seeing big time top 10 conversions which allowed them to push ahead of "My Church". I'm glad to see this one rebounding though. I'm still hopeful that it can make it to #1 before all is said and done.

I hear this song quite a bit for it to be ranked where it is. It gets top five level airplay on my stations. I guess it's a good thing I like it!

It's the same for me, only this one is at practically #1 levels of airplay here. I hear it all the time, on multiple stations. In the last 2-3 months, I think I've heard this song twice as much as any other song in the top 20. I'm not complaining, though, because I really enjoy this one. I saw my parents this weekend and my dad even asked me about it. He said he really likes the song and that he thinks it's really catchy, but he thought the message was wrong, though, so I explained my take on it (which basically echoes what zaclord 🌈 posted a while back in this thread) and I think my dad likes this song even more now. I know I'm not tired of this one and I'm still hoping it can go top 5 or #1. Even if it falls short, though, this one feels like a #1 hit to me. It's on the radio here all the time!

I think Maren Morris debut song is done, "My Church" is sporting a nearly -200 bullet, and Maren lost 52 spins and about 300k in audience. It's a shame this song is about done, hopefully 80's Mercedes manages to smash as this girl has such amazing talent and should totally be a star in country music.

I still enjoy hearing it on the radio as well, but since they pulled the plug on it earlier this week, it will undiubtedly receive a hefty dose of recurrent airplay over the course of the rest of the year.
It's definitely among the very best debut singles of the past decade joining other standout debut singles including 'I Loved Her First' and 'Jesus, Take The Wheel', just to name a couple of masterpieces from the class of 2006.

I wish they'd get back together.

"My Church" had its best one day update in a while and narrowly regained its bullet on Mediabase this week with a 2 spin increase (lost nearly 600k in audience).
This one's been struggling mightily and I would have to think the label is just trying to keep this one afloat until the album drops or at least keep it going as long as they can to get it near that date.
