This album campaign is setting up to be similar to 21. They started in late 2010 with "Rolling In The Deep" and then ended with the 2012 Grammys (so ~15 months). Releasing/sending songs to radio doesn't take much effort, neither does recording videos for the song. Adele is in a completely different place now than when she was originally promoting 21. Not to mention there are plans for Adele to do a world tour to support the album as well. So realistically, yes I can see Adele promoting the album for the next fifteen months (I'm sure she'll get plenty of breaks between promoting singles and in the lead up to her tour though). I don't think this album's campaign can be similar to 21's. Last album people were discovering her slowly, it took a while for the songs to catch on. The second single was released in the US by July or something. Do you expect her label to wait until July to release the second single and then until 2017 to release the third single, like they did with 21? Nope, expecting them to send the second single to radio in January and be on the 4th single by July. Can promote that on award shows and then leave it at that until the grammys come around where she can perform and promote the album one last time (maybe a 5th single?). The speed at which they can send singles this time is much faster as it took ages for "Rolling In The Deep" to rise up the charts.

That opening building number alone is insane.

According to Buzzangle its sales are at 2.56 million, so it sold ~260k Monday. With 3 days of sales left, I would think it could comfortably do 3 million with her appearance on Jimmy Falon last night and her appearance on The Today Show tomorrow!

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6777044/adele-25-first-week-us-sales-forecast-3-millionAdele's '25' First-Week U.S. Sales Forecast Increases to 3 MillionBy Keith Caulfield | November 24, 2015 8:20 PM EST Adele's 25 just keeps on getting bigger. After already breaking the single-week U.S. sales record for an album in slightly more than three days, 25 is now gunning to sell 3 million copies in its first week, according to industry forecasters. 25 was released on Nov. 20 through XL/Columbia Records and is Adele's third studio album. After processing the first sales reports from Monday, Nov. 23, the album has already sold at least 2,433,000 in pure album sales in slightly more than three days. That sum beat the single-week record for an album since Nielsen began tracking sales in 1991, set by *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, when it debuted with 2,416,000 in the week ending March 26, 2000. Nielsen Music began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. Prior to 1991, there was no authoritative music sales tracking service in the U.S. and thus, it was mostly unknown how many copies of an album or song/single were sold in a single week. The sales tracking week ends at the close of business on Thursday, Nov. 26. Billboard is scheduled to report 25's debut week sales on Sunday, Nov. 29, once Nielsen has finished processing its weekly data.

Absolutely insane. I'm glad the record is no longer NSYNC's too. It feels right for the record to be held by someone who has such incredible mass appeal rather than a boyband. I never though that record would be broken with actual album sales though, and this managed to do it even before the new streaming equivalent component was added into the equation.

Amazing second week for Bieber, over a million in three weeks easily and will probably be his biggest seller in a couple of months

I get what you mean, but I just don't see Adele going to the MTV Movie Awards or the AMAs to promote her 4th single. Last album she performed at the VMAs when her second single was starting to take off, a lot of people were still discovering her. I don't think she'll be doing it for her 4th single eight months from now.

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=298704Wednesday, November 25, 2015 25 HEADING DUE NORTH FROM 3MAnother day, another updated Adele projection. As of Wednesday morning, our numbers crunchers have increased first-week estimates for 25 to 3.1-3.3m albums, 3.2-3.4m SPS. This is surreal. Meanwhile, she’s performing “Million Years Ago” on The Today Show as this item is being typed.

Love seeing the hype and forecasted sales for Adele actually get bigger as the week goes on. Lulz @ everyone who called her Norah Jones.

This is great for the industry. How down are year-to-date album sales vs. the same period last year? Could 25 help soften the blow by year's end?

I'm confused how is there a building sales chart if we are still in the tracking week?

Other superstar artists should note - performing different tracks during the initial promotion period is an incredibly effective strategy. It makes every appearance unique so ppl will tune in - it's a different twist on the 'promo' single approach.

I'm confused how is there a building sales chart if we are still in the tracking week? Because they still have sales info from previous days and they "build" it up until the final numbers on Friday.
