I don't agree that Drag me Down, that is #27 on iTunes (in front of The Hills, #9 on Hot 100), is out of the chart and can't re-enter. I know that there's other metrics that matters, but I just don't think it's fair... iTunes is only one part of the puzzle. There is also radio, YouTube, Spotify, other places it can be purchased, etc. Regardless of how much it is selling, it does not have enough points to be in the top 50, and because it is over twenty weeks, it has gone recurrent, the same as every song on the recurrent list. B*tch Better Have My Money saw a huge jump in sales the week after it went recurrent, yet it never re-entered. If I remember right, Demons re-entered as it was pushed at pop.

I remember this happened with "Little Talks" as well.
I kind of wish they weren't so...prescriptive with the recurrent rule tbh. There was no real need to take "Little Talks" off when it was about to be pushed to pop and would've just continued its slow ascent anyway. I guess they may have changed their policy since then, what with "El Perdón"'s chart run this year.

If there are gains in the metrics, there is no recurrent rule at 20weeks, as with the case of 'El Perdon'
Lots of songs spent 21-22 weeks on the chart because of chart-makers 'falling asleep at the wheel' but
in any case, once a song is declared recurrent, it stays that way for its chart cycle.

If there are gains in the metrics, there is no recurrent rule at 20weeks, as with the case of 'El Perdon' Similar happened to Bet My Life by Imagine Dragons earlier in the year. Eric Church's Like a Wrecking Ball also remained on the chart for over 20 weeks below the top 50 as Billboard said it was still gaining on radio, despite decreasing in points that week. Lee Brice's Drinking Class managed to re-enter this year from recurrency despite not being in a different chart run. It re-entered at #56 on it's 21st week, having peaked at #53. It had fallen off over a month before that.

There are always counter-examples for 'human error'
Human error has entered into the chart many times.

Not if Trap Queen barely hits its recurrency 3 weeks from now, because then it will be doing top 30 numbers on Recurrent while Uptown Funk is slipping away from the top 40 equivalent. The next thing to dethrone that could be Watch Me; either way, Uptown Funk's #1 days are limited from this point forward.

Wow, Trap Queen didn't even debut at #1 on the recurrent chart? Sheesh, that means Uptown Funk would still be in either the 30s or 20s right now. I'm guessing Watch Me is still too high for it to beat (unless it collapses in the next month), but for now the streak lives on.

Now I actually have a little bit of hope that Uptown Funk can stay ahead of Watch Me, thanks to Watch Me crashing lately while Uptown Funk continues to somehow remain relevant for various reasons. If it can outlast Watch Me, its gonna have a long life at that #1 spot, considering the competition isn't coming for a while (and I don't think Lean On has the strength to last 8 more weeks).

Silento didn't debut at #1, and didn't even last the whole 52 weeks. You have no idea how happy this makes me.

Take that Watch Me!! :) The best part? Silento's gonna get blocked AGAIN by Uptown Funk next week due to it not fading nearly as fast as all of the other grammy-boosted songs on itunes. That is, if it isn't still blocked by Thinking Out Loud's momentum from last week. Oh, and throw See You Again in there too (if it leaves the chart).
