Dierks is one of the most consistent album artists working today... So yeah I'm super pumped for the single/album

AJ and Ashley from K92 in Orlando tweeted they'd be debuting this 1/19 every hour on the :30.
Edit: and Broadway in CT said he'll have it at 6 am.
Aw, his first iHeart debut. Tear.

All Access has "Somewhere On A Beach" listed as going for adds on January 25th as well. It seems most of country radio knows by now that this is indeed Dierks' lead single.

Dierks will also be premiering this Tuesday 1/19 on Ellen.
Capitol is clearly all in for this one...I've never seen this in his career.

I've now heard from someone and read at DB Congress facebook page that the title ("Somewhere On A Beach") is deceiving. Again, take that for what it's worth but it might not be the party, uptempo everyone thinks.

I could easily see this kind of having the theme of Kenny Chesney's "On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful" where it's not completely sad, but definitely not upbeat.

I never thought it was going to be a party uptempo, and I also wouldn't really care if it were anything similar to Kenny Chesney because it's not like that's territory Dierks has explored before. My biggest concern has always been the bajillion writers and their backgrounds. But I'm trying to remain optimistic. We shall see in 36ish hours.

I do think that the song itself will be a mid-tempo (I don't think it's a party-type), but how exactly it will sound production wise is anybody's guess I suppose. The inclusion of David Kuncio is something that's always made me wonder how this one will sound, plus the fact Jaron Boyer hasn't exactly written my favorite country songs over the past couple years. Not long now, though.

Dierks posted this about an hour or two ago and nothing has come of it yet but I'm very interested to see what E News has to say about the album and/or single or even a tour...?

Well, I personally think the reservations about the title were warranted. Not a fan. Certainly the lyrics share some of the bro-country themes but even the melody doesn't grab me.

On first listen I liked it but I didn't instantly love it like I did "Drunk On A Plane". They definitely seem to be going for repeat success, but I don't see this one being quite as big. The production was pretty catchy though, and I think this one is going to get stuck in a lot of people's heads. I think it's solid but not great, but this definitely seems like a song that will grow on me. Can't wait for the album.

I've never understood why when someone has a big time hit they try everything they can to repeat or out do that hit with something way too similar but never better.

Eh. Something in this song just isn't sticking with me. I think the production is find and Dierks sounds great vocally. I just don't know what isn't working I think maybe the melody isn't quite working for me overall this isn't bad and I'm still looking forward to the album but this just isn't leaving much of an impression on me.

It's just ok for me-I don't hate it, but definitely won't buy it. I was hoping for more of an upbeat, perhaps romantic springy song, not another revenge, 'look at who I'm with' song.
It does have Dierks voice; great as ever-but the melody doesn't grab me. Hopefully single #2 will be more to my liking.

Ok... On first listen, the melody didn't pull me in and the writing seemed a little lazy at some parts, but I guess this is okay. Hopefully it'll be a grower. DoaP is much better.

I don't love it but don't hate it. Some of those lyrics are cringeworthy, so I'm glad he didn't write a damn one of them. It's catchy, a good singalong, and I like that it's still got kind of a melancholy bluesy feel to it. But it feels like a guilty pleasure and that's weird territory for a longtime Dierks fan.

I definitely like the production. Wish the lyrics weren't so damn Luke Bryan.

It's a smart mainstream radio single. It's going to do very well.

It's a smart mainstream radio single. It's going to do very well. He doesn't need to release "smart mainstream singles" at this point in his career. And there is literally nothing smart about those lyrics. I know you didn't mean smart in that sense but this just seems cheap.

Otherwise, "Riser" woulda been a #1.

Yeah, because he generally prefers quality over what will sell the most. Hence the cheapness of this release.

Is this song good? No....dear Lord no.
BUT....If Dierks had begun the "Riser" era with "Pretty Girls" or "Back Porch", I would have been hesitant there as well. The difference between now and then is that we all know Dierks DOES prefer quality in his albums, which is why I think SOAB will be the anomaly of the album much like the above mentioned tracks.

Found the lyrics for anyone who hasn't been able to listen to the audio like me. Honestly, if this was any other popular male artist (Aldean, Bryan, Shelton...) this song would be getting ripped apart. It's DOAP 2.0 and some of those lyrics...As someone who has tended to lean more on the bro-country side, yet still likes music from both sides, I can say the lyrics seem to be pretty bad. I have never been a big Dierks fan, only liking a couple songs here and there, but I really enjoyed most of the Riser album, this is a step back for me if this is any indication of the new album's direction. Dierks Bentley, “Somewhere On a Beach” Lyrics: “Bet you think I’m sitting at home nah / Bet you think think that I’m all alone nah / Bet you think I’m missing you and wishing you would call my phone / Hell no / I went wheels up on a runway and that ticket was a one-way.” Chorus: “I’m somewhere on a beach, sipping something strong / Got a new girl, she got it going on / We drink all day and party all night / I’m way too gone to have you on my mind / She got a body, and she’s naughty / And she got me like you ain’t ever got me / I’m getting sun, getting some and I ain’t slept in a week / Yeah I’m somewhere on the beach.” “Heard you called my boys, heard you called my folks / They said you drove by my house real slow / You can check any spot, roll down every road but girl I ain’t even close.” “I wish it coulda worked out / But I’m gettin’ over you now / On a beach towel / With my shades on / My drink’s up / And the sun’s out.” Read More: Dierks Bentley, “Somewhere On a Beach” [Listen] | tasteofcountry.com/dierks-bentley-somewhere-on-a-beach/?trackback=tsmclip

Hence the cheapness of this release. So you're implying that he thinks this song isn't "quality" but is releasing it anyway? That he was forced to record re and then release it? I just don't see it. He liked it, wanted to record it and knew it'd likely get released. Don't hold him up as some sort of avant grade mainstream guy. Outside of "Up On A Ridge," Dierks has been considerably mainstream.

I do disagree it's DOAP 2.0. DOAP was well written, clever and unique. This song is none of those.

I feel like he is getting kind of barbecued on here...? Reads to me like more of proverbial slap on the wrist. I guess, I'm just use to seeing most of my favorite artist, Jason Aldean's singles get torched completely here when they are subpar lol.
