The Chainsmokers submitted something in the Dance category right? I'll be surprised if they don't get a nod in that category if they're eligible.

I don't even know where to start for R&B noms, nor Rap. Drake, Bey, and Rihanna are definitely guaranteed for those. Maybe Solange sneaks in?

Country (derp):
Album: Maren Carrie Eric Sturgil Joey & Rory?
I have way more confidence in the first 4, no idea on the 5th. Could also see Dierks and Keith, but those are two bad albums, or Brandy who has been more of a critics darling. Margo Price entered her album as Americana.

^Being a Grammy favorite in the vocal categories is meaningless when it comes to content-related categories. Carrie Underwood's won six vocal Grammy Awards but has never received a single Country Album nomination, which is why I'm hesitant to believe she'll net one this year, despite Storyteller arguably being her most well-received album critically.
Country Album is especially interesting this year, because there are a lot of very deserving ways the category could take form. It could easily honor albums from the likes of Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban, where both of their records were well-received and commercially successful, or the Academy could direct their attention more heavily towards critical acclaim and focus on the likes of Joey + Rory and Brandy Clark. I'm thinking the nominees will shape out to look something like:
Locks: Maren Morris, Hero; Eric Church, Mr. Misunderstood; Sturgill Simpson, A Sailor's Guide to Earth Literally any two of these would make sense: Carrie Underwood, Storyteller; Keith Urban, Ripcord; Joey + Rory, Hymns That Are Important To Us; Brandy Clark, Big Day in a Small Town; Lori McKenna, The Bird & the Rifle; Dierks Bentley, Black; Charles Kelly, The Driver; Dolly Parton, Pure & Simple; Loretta Lynn, Full Circle; Brothers Osborne, Pawn Shop
I totally forgot that Margo Price submitted her album into Americana. I think it'll find success there, but I also think it could've fared equally as well in Country, as the GRAMMYs have never shied away from shining a light on records that are authentic to the genre's roots. Is Willie Nelson's For the Good Times: A Tribute to Ray Price eligible?
ETA: Crap. I also forgot about Cam's Untamed. Seriously, this year is stacked with deserving nominees for this category.

Doubt he gets overlooked with all the massive singles For me, outside of "Blue" Keith's album was average pop, with the electronic drum beats to prove it. Granted the grammy's might not care. Additionally while the album sold well, it's sold less this period than: Carrie, Blake, Rory & Joey, and Eric, just off the top of my head. Not saying it won't get a nod, but I sort of think the grammy's will throw in at least one more "critics" album. That being said, assuming it was nominated by the label I can see Keith scoring noms in both song and solo vocal for "Blue" as well as for duet w/Carrie for "Fighter".

I hope Rihanna can get into AOTY, she definitely deserves this go round.
Longshot, but Solange needs to be put int AOTY also.
I wish she was an oldie too and "Don't Touch My Hair" or "Cranes In the Sky" randomly pop up in ROTY or SOTY.
Man, I'm expecting the same ol' with these nominations tomorrow.

3/5 for BNA, and 4/5 for the rest.
No AOTY for Anti, and the SOTY group is largely weak. Bowie not being in AOTY is probably the big surprise. This may open it up for Beyonce.

Shocked at the AOTY nom for JB. It's a good album, but I mean...
Also surprized David Bowie didn't get into any of the general 4, nor did Alessia Cara get into BNA.

Initial thoughts: -Woah at Sturgill Simpson getting an AOTY nom. Quite the surprise, but his gradually-building buzz combined with his post-CMA outburst seemed to put him over the top, and it all just flew under the radar to most people. If there was going to be a Country/Americana album in there, I thought it was going to be Margo Price's A Midwest Farmer's Daughter. -Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris both being in BNA shocked me. Really didn't see Ballerini getting in there, but congratulations to her and her team for successfully vetting her as the new pop-country princess. -Ew, "I Took A Pill in Ibiza"? -Ew @ all of the "7 Years" love.

I got Beyonce taking song (again) and Adele taking Record (again). Album is a tossup because Beyonce and Drake might split votes. Adele may get it again.

Nominees are up! grammy.com/nominees. A few things that some will enjoy: -"Piece By Piece (Idol Version)" got a Pop Solo nom -Demi's Confident got a Pop Vocal Album nom -Solange gets Best R&B Performance nom for "Cranes in the Sky"
Headline for the show this year: Beyonce leads with 9 nominations; Drake, Rihanna, and Kanye follow with 8 nominations; Chance the Rapper gets 7. Nice year for hip-hop!

Considering Beyonce got in Pop Solo and Rock, you'd think she'd have gotten more than 9 noms, but she's not in R&B Performance or R&B Song. Was nothing submitted there, or was she snubbed? Anyway, hip-hop acts often leads noms or have a lot of noms because they can get so many noms as featured artists. Look at Kanye getting 8 noms, but none for his own work in a major category; so, it's misleading.

Sooo happy with most of the country nominations! Miranda nominated for Vice, Brandy nominated with her album, Maren getting nominated in so many categories, Loretta getting in, the Brothers Osborne nominated for "21 Summer"... so many highlights!

Very surprised Eric Church got snubbed in Country Album. Thought he would be a lock.
