The R&B categories are so random. How did Maxwell get in R&B Song, but not R&B Performance? Why is "Needed Up" up for R&B Performance, but "Kiss It Better" is up for R&B Song? Not that it all has to match perfect, but it just seems so random.
And Solange got in R&B Performance but couldn't get in R&B Song or an Album category?

There are some really heinous nominations and snubs, let's not beat around the bush. Justin B in album. Mike Posner, seriously? No David Bowie in the majors. "7 Years" getting nominated for anything, let alone big awards. I still don't understand Twenty One Pilots, but whatev, I can't deny they had some impact I guess. But I think most of these were kinda obvious and there's always some head scratchers in the mix. So nothing new.
Yes at Beyonce getting in Rock, Pop, Rap, Video and R&B categories, so damn greedy, lmao. I'm kinda pissed Solange only got one nom, but it's in a category she has a good shot at, so that's good. YES at "Kiss It Better." And I agree with the previous poster, the R&B categories seems all over the place.

These nominations are horrible... Lukas Graham? Mike Posner? No Bowie for AOTY? No Janet in r&b categories?

Does anyone know all the categories that Solange submitted her music in at the Grammys?

Surprised that "This Is What You Came For" didn't get a nomination in the Best Dance Recording category. That said, I have to be honest that I wasn't expecting one in the General Field though.
Either way, great to see Flume got two nominations for "Never Be Like You" and Skin in the Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album, respectively. Also, I wasn't expecting to see "Rinse & Repeat" there as well.

Terrible nominations. One Dance got nothing? 7 Years in both song and record? Mike Posner?
Hopefully Adele sweeps, but I'm thinking Lemonade takes AOTY.

Surprised at Bowie's lack of nominations beyond a few in the genre categories. Fuck 7 Years. Disappointed Lori didn't get a Song of the Year but she got four others in Americana and Country. Pretty boring nominees this year. Rooting for Adele and Bey. The rest can suck it.

...Beyoncé got a nomination for Best Rock Performance. Ridiculous. Is Matthew still on the Grammy committee? How can she get rock and pop (song) nominations but nothing for R&B? Suspicious. It seems the Grammy are really wanting to set up an Adele vs Beyonce battle next year. A mess. Janet gets completely snubbed but Mya gets in? Like seriously? That said, with the exception of the obvious "This Is What You Came For" snub, they at least did Rihanna right this year. So damn happy at the "Kiss It Better" nom!

Where was "One Dance" submitted? Drake is in Rap Performance and Rap/Sung for his own work, so I assume it went to Pop? He's in there, too, but for "Work" of course. So, it wasn't snubbed in a way because he got in everywhere he could.

Scrolling through the nominees, I totally somehow expected "Daddy Lessons" to be nominated for country solo after seeing Beyoncé in general, pop, rock, urban contemporary, and rap.

Thank god One Dance was snubbed, quite surprised at ITAPII in SOTY, very disappointed H.O.L.Y. is nowhere to be seen in the Country field.

None of the top selling country albums of the year getting a nomination in albums is surprising. Eric is the really surprising snum. Rory & Joey entered (and got nom'd) in roots gospel. Margo Price getting shut out is also a surprise, she should've entered in country. Lori McKenna entering under Americana was also a surprise, but she totally cleaned up over there & didn't have to compete against herself in song (hah). Also with 4/5 solo noms in country being female, and 3/5 album noms, seems as if the grammy's are trying to send a message.

Odd that they made zero mention of Bowie and Rihanna, and just a passing note on Drake. Then again, note the labels behind the artists they do keep bringing up (RCA and Columbia, both Sony labels); wouldn't surprise me if HITS's weird label politics come into play here too, also regarding Lenny Beer and his 20/20 "fiasco." I really hope Demi gets a nomination. It's way past due. Considering her only two releases this year, "Body Say" and "Without A Fight," were somewhat of non-entities, I'd lower your hopes. ;) Its not just the year 2016 from January to now, its from October of 2015 till some of 2016. Well she got nominated so I didn't need to lower anything & look who was wrong :))))))

My early prediction, Adele sweeps all of her categories. Unless all of the older voters drop dead before the end of the year. Beyonce simply doesn't play the game like she used to and Adele represents everything they love in an artist and their history with Urban music is abysmal.

These nominations (and particularly the absence of Solange in major categories, unless she didn't submit there) are just pathetic.
