Although AI isn't the ratings powerhouse it was five years ago, but I hav no problem with her decision to sing this on that show, and I'm really looking forward to seeing her on Sunday evening. Finally heard this on the radio tonight on Y100/San Antonio, and it sounds terrific. FINALLY?! It takes a good two months to finally hear a 'new' Carrie song in Minneapolis. Basically when it hits Top 15, they play it here. Yeah, it was a bit dramatic to say 'finally' since this was sent to radio... today, lol. I'm looking forward to hearing this on the radio soon too, but I think it'll take a few weeks.

I love how creative Carrie is getting with her staging lately. Hope she incorporates that drum piece into her live performances of "Church Bells" on tour from now on.

"Church Bells" climbed 23 spots to #62 on Mediabase this week. Expect a fair number of adds tomorrow.

The performance of "Church Bells" on the ACMs was definitely one of the best of the show, hands down. Fantastic staging, vocal, and the song is perfect. Love that this is one is going to be all over the radio come a few months from now. <3

Interesting image they are giving her this era. IDK, something about that screams "Miranda Lambert" when I looked at that single cover. I think the image on the "Church Bells" single promo is similar to how she was depicted on the Blown Away cover, just washed in different hues. I guess I was thinking of Miranda's album cover, which I guess doesn't look too much like the single cover

What's the big deal about CB video? I mean videos barely matter at all anymore (unless you are lucky and something about it is so cool or special and irlt goes viral) Carrie videos don't have very high youtube views anyway. In general videos are as relevant as ever due to streaming. They aren't as big in country music as in more mainstream music, but country videos still get millions of views online and get aired on CMT and GAC.

"Church Bells" didn't get as big of a boost at iTunes as I would have thought/hoped. It's still in the 50s while there are a slew of country songs above it.

I'm hoping that 'Storyteller' jumping to #5 overall (#2 country behind King Chris) after the ACMs along with the discount @ $7.99 is where all the boost is going. Maybe people enjoyed the performance enough that they just bought the album-on-sale rather than simply the one track.

"Church Bells" got at least 40 adds this week (third most added). Official impact date is next Monday.

I think this is a weak single choice, honestly. It's so similar to "Two Black Cadillacs." I like the song, don't get me wrong, but I just think it's the "same ole, same ole" from Carrie when there are other songs on this album that stretch her artistry more.

Even if it's a solid track, it treads familiar ground for her. And even if people like it, I don't see it selling singles or albums ("Two Black Cadillacs" didn't either).

This is one of my favorite Carrie singles of all time, and it's not even my favorite track on Storyteller. I'm not as big on "Choctaw County Affair" as many others are, and I tend to think it'd be a bit polarizing if it were chosen as a radio single, but I do enjoy it well enough. However, my favorite song is easily "Dirty Laundry", and so even though I like "Church Bells" a lot, I'm disappointed that they didn't go with "Dirty Laundry" instead (I actually think DL should have been the lead single but oh well).
I also really like "Chaser", "Relapse", "Like I'll Never Love You Again", and "What I Never Knew I Always Wanted". Really there's not a bad song on the album.

That's probably the only song I'd genuinely wouldn't enjoy if Carrie Underwood released it as a single.

I like "Clock Don't Stop", especially for the production/arrangement and Carrie's vocals. It's in the bottom half of the album for me but I still like it quite a bit. I love the arrangement of "Church Bells" too, and while the song is a bit 'loud', I don't feel that it's overproduced. To my ears, it never sounds like Carrie is struggling to be heard over the production, and that's usually how I determine whether I think a song is overproduced or not. I really like the chord progressions throughout the chorus, and the banjo and drums sound really good, too.

I'm happy CB is the single. Although not my favorite from the album, i like it TONS more than SB and HB. CB is the type of carrie single that i love. Hoping DL and CCA make it has singles too. I actually really like Mexico also!

"Choctaw County Affair" is simply too crunchy a song title to make a single.

"Choctaw County Affair" is simply too crunchy a song title to make a single. What is crunchy supposed to mean in this context? Regardless of the answer to that, I disagree that the title of song would affect it's performance at all. If anything an interesting song title would just help it stand out to the general public.

I'm not as big on "Choctaw County Affair" as many others are, and I tend to think it'd be a bit polarizing if it were chosen as a radio single, but I do enjoy it well enough. Its potentially polarizing nature is the point. Those are the types of songs that inspire real passion among those who love it. Songs that are 'pleasant' (meaning generally liked) tend to come and go, whereas something a little more risky/polarizing is what gets remembered. "CCA" is certainly the kind of song that is likely to garner real attention, and it's more likely to break through into big awards show categories than, say, "Church Bells."

If there's any genre that easily embraces long/odd/funny/cheesy/crunchy (whatever that means) titles like that, it's Country genre. I mean, have you seen some of the country song titles in the past? Plus, I don't see anything wrong with CCA title. The name itself stands out - makes people take notice and remember the song.

"Choctaw County Affair" is simply too crunchy a song title to make a single. It's not smooth as Peter Pan. Wait, that's another artist. My bad.

Nice move at MediaBase. A top 40 debut for sure. Expecting it to be the fastest climbing song at Billboard:

"Choctaw County Affair" is simply too crunchy a song title to make a single. If "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)" could be released as a single and still receive airplay 20+ years later, I think "Choctaw County Affair" has a shot.

This was mostly refered to as, "Sold" though. I don't see it being too much of an issue but I get the reasoning behind it. Hard to spell/look up for buying and streaming purposes perhaps.

She came within 136 points of cracking the Mediabase top 40 this week, so another truckload of adds (exceeding the 41 she earned this past week) should result in a robust debut on CT40 a week from Saturday, and very likely inside the top 30 as Keith & Kenny have done the past two weeks.
