Instead we got one of her worst videos, if not the worst.

That Larry Rudolph article is crap. Past the 'we don't think it worked' line, the rest was such a non-answer. What does 'we don't want surprises' have to do with the video? You scrapped it so there would be no surprises? Idiot, we KNEW about the video. #LogicFAIL
Meanwhile, this is not going to recover. #NiceJobBreakingItRCA

Yeah, this definitely isn't going to recover. iTunes discount is gone too meaning this will probably start tanking there. This did well all things considered, but I agree with others that the video was a big misstep and really limited this songs' success. But at least this one had a bit more longevity than other past Britney songs.
Hopefully Team Britney has a second single selected and a decent roll out/video planned. I still think they have several viable options...

Songs that peaked around the same area:
Slave #18, 17 weeks. I'm not a Girl, #21, 8 weeks. Outrageous, #23, 8 weeks. My Prerogative, #22, 7 weeks. Gimme More, #17, 14 weeks. Piece of Me, #28, 21 weeks. Break the Ice, #22, 18 weeks. Criminal, #20, 10 weeks. Ooh la la, #20, 7 weeks. Pretty Girls, #23, 6 weeks. Make Me, #19, 9 weeks so far I think.
So it's going to outlast I'm not a Girl, Outrageous, CriminaL, Perfume, Ooh La La, Pretty Girls and My Prerogative, but it probably won't hold a candle to the Blackout singles or Slave.
Radio should be ashamed that this peaked around the same area as Ooh La La.

Looking at those peaks Boston must have really liked "Piece Of Me, Break The Ice, and Gimmie More alot. I feel like I heard those a decent amount on the radio back in the day. I feel like I started hearing "Outrageous" from day 1 until they pulled the plug. lol. I remember because it was one of my favorites from "In The Zone". Back then "Slave For You" didn't receive much play. I feel like it got more recurrent play though than when it was out??? Same with XTina's "Dirrty".
Anyways maybe if this article makes a little splash they should just leak the video.... Everything leaks now a days, the songs not going to be a smash anyways, could it really hurt that much???? It would probably cause a little sales bump.

Love Me Down and Liar are great but I think DYWCO may be the only hope for single #2

The song really is done now. But it'll manage two more weeks billboard 100 at least and Britney is now in a good position for single 2 as it hasn't outwright flopped, and she's had some good exposure... It underperformed somewhat - mainly due to radio not really caring for it. The iHeart stations didn't really even commit to giving it power rotation despite the fact she's at their festival.
Let's just hope they go with Slumber Party next as it's the most commercially radio ready song.

I kind of ignored Love Me Down at first (for no reason, really) but I'm kind of thinking this might actually be the best choice for the next single? It's maybe the most immediate of the bunch, and it's basically hook-after hook-after hook. I absolutely love Slumber Party (and the entire album), but that might be a bit too slow to release right now? Love Me Down is a bit more uptempo and in your face.

Definitely think they need to go with something more uptempo. "Slumber Party" would be great for 3rd or 4th single in my opinion. I'm thinking DYWCO, Love Me Down, Better might be best...though Hard to Forget Ya or If I'm Dancing could work too. Honestly there's still a lot of options, and I could see them going in many different directions.

^ To be honest, if Britney was up for the challenge (of coming up with a sick routine and crazy video), I'd kill to see If I'm Dancing next.

Lol at Larry's answer. It's an expected pr answer but it still made me roll my eyes. The original didn't work but the one we got did? There's a massive disconnect between the type of imagery the song evokes and what we actually got. Make Me is a sleek, sexy, and smooth song but the visuals we got in that video are not. Obviously, we can't fully assert how well the original would have worked out but, from the snippets we've seen, the visuals seemed to give the song the kind of oomph that it may have needed for some people to get on board with this song. Plus, those snippets had far more replay value than the video released.
As for Love Me Down vs Slumber Party, they both have pros and cons. Love Me Down is more upbeat (which is perhaps needed) and is more instant. That said, I feel like it is potentially the more polarizing song. Slumber Party is an all-around great song. There's very little to criticize about it but obviously it is a mid-tempo when perhaps an uptempo would be more appropriate.

If we're talking in terms of how generic T40 hits are, and if she's gonna go for one..I'd say 2nd single choices would be DYWCO, Love Me Down, Better or If I'm Dancing. But I don't know how those would even perform...

Love Me Down and Liar are great but I think DYWCO may be the only hope for single #2 And I still think it will have extremely limited appeal outside of the gay community, but we'll see.

I kind of disagree with everyone. It's a great album the second single could catch very easily and so couldn't another one. Brits ready to promote so let's see what happens.
I have to say by someone who loves Brit the ck and Ellen skits were I don't know not promising but her performances are engaging.
I mean who doesn't hope she hits with single 2 and with the arsenault she has from this album you have to think she has a chance.

Every other day my mind changes to what they should release next. I've been getting into "Just Luv Me and Just Like Me" a lot. However Britney tried the midtempo type track with "Make Me" and it didn't work out that well. I was all into "Love Me Down" but it burned on me kind of quickly. If it hasn't for other's maybe that's the way to go if to many people think that "Do You Wanna Come Over" would only do good in a Gay Bar. "Slumber Party" is so catchy and even tough it's not considered uptempo it's not slow either. I guess go for "Slumber Party" but try to come up with something unique or a fierce dance breakdown while performing it.

I love DYWCO and its getting great reviews, but I feel it may be too polarizing for the GP? Am I the only one who has that feeling?
I think Slumber Party could work. And then release a ballad as the 3rd, Just Luv Me, and then folow that up with a deluxe release, Liar being the best choice.

Why are we all fighting against Man on the Moon next (including myself to an extent)? It's still hook for hook the catchiest song on the album, imo. So shouldn't it be the obvious choice then? Sure it's a bit slow for Britney, but it's not a straight up ballad either. I think I'm done debating to myself what should be next, and I'm just gonna go with the flat out most radio friendly song and stop overthinking it. Hope the label does the same.

MOTM is my favorite song on the album (and quickly rising on my all-time fave list from Britney) but I'm worried about how it would do and I don't think I could handle it flopping (lol)

MOTM has become my second favorite after Invitation . I think why not risk it, what do they have to loose at this point? The album is flopping so take some risks and I feel it's more of a contemporary pop song than Better. Most of her singles are almost timeless and do not sound ultra trendy.
So: 2) Better/ If I'm Dancing / Clumsy 3) MOTM / Clumsy / If I'm Dancing 4) PS / Invitation

MOTM I dont think would work. Sometimes we need to be objective. Invitation is my favorite from Glory but it aint single material. Neither are Private Show nor Clumsy...
