I didn't expect some meteoric rise to the top for this song, but it not even making the Hot 100? OUCH.

I hear this constantly in NYC so at least she's doing well in her hometown.

I still think this should be bigger. I remember her saying that people aren't recognizing that it is her singing and she said that is a good thing. I'm thinking, that is not good, people need to know who is singing and who they are investing in. The rollout has been awful for this song and it deserves better. It is great song, lyrically too.

I mean she performed it on Saturday Night Live, The Voice (& the FINALE at that), and the BET Awards. With multiple promo slots that prominent, I think most people would wish for this song's visibility or marketing rollout. It just doesn't seem to be connecting, which is odd, because it does seem like a very well liked song. I think the main problem is people like it low key and radio is doing a shit job at reminding people that it's out there. But she's a female R&B singer who isn't Bey or Rih so yeah.

I wasn't specifically talking about the performances as I think the promo slots have been great, but I think you hit the mark with the connection with the audience. i do feel people don't know that she is out. It needs to be seen than heard and she is using the "heard" more so than a great marketing tactic in a commercial (such as "Girl on Fire") or using Apple to her advantage. She feels new with this song.

This was a boring song to come back with. Hopefully RCA has a better roll out for the follow up.

I still think this would have been a smash had she come back with this after Unthinkable in 2012.
The non-impact of the last album really did more damage than I expected it to. Probably the best idea would have been to record and release something that sounded like her first 2 records (in a good way) before releasing something more "experimental" like this.

In Common (The Remixes) – EP released today. #736 on US Top Albums ITunes chart. The Black Coffee Remix is so dope! Proudly South African. Would sound great on radio. Tracklist:1. In Common (Lil Silva Remix)
2. In Common (Xpect Remix)
3. In Common (Kenny Dope Remix)
4. In Common (Kenny Dope Extended Mix)
5. In Common (Black Coffee Remix)

I have no use for any of those remixes, but they are cute though. I don't understand why there isn't a clear/new remix for this song by now. I would love if Usher could hop on it, I think he will sound great on this track and I can see it getting a lot of press for the both of them.

I was thinking The Weeknd should jump on it, since it's basically his producer who hooked up this track anyway. Their duet performance of "Earned It" last year was a nice moment too.

In Common (The Remixes) – EP up to #368 on Itunes Top 100 ALBUMS (US).
I fear for this album's first week sales. In Common has stalled and doesn't look like it is going to explode anytime soon. And the album is dropping in two months.
She either has to go on a radio tour for In Common like she did with Girl on Fire, or move on to the next single.

I thought she would have been a shoe in for num.1 at UAC and top 3-5 at Urban. Strange....... I wasn't expecting to much from CHR and it's doing what I thought it would at Rythmic unless Urban dove into it. She's been out for 15 years now. I guess her time of instant Urban hits may be coming to an end.

Not really a fan of any of the remixes. The Kenny Dope ones are what I expected and my favorite I guess. Urban AC commute home from work by-the-number remixes.

I'm kinda sad for her that this is doing poorly outside of Urban AC.

This is a good song and should have done much better. At this point I don't think the song will pick up unless the label and her management can get radio on board. Unless they can somehow get this song in the top 20 of the Hot 100 in the next 3 weeks, it's time to move on. Her second single should be just as good (if not better than IC) and should feature a hot current male artist (i.e. Drake or the weekend). Otherwise this album will be DOA with no more than 40-60k first week.

I mean damn, she probably would have at least charted at #99 with on of her girl pop inspirational songs. I thought urban wanted an urban sound from her? Lol
