I think she'll be fine with it as long as you let her start the thread for single #3. ;)
Anyways, I can't wait to hear this!

Really hoping for "Black" but I'm not really expecting it to happen.

Thanks for starting the thread sabre14! As I mentioned in the SOAB thread, if we assume a Friday (album release day) hourly deal for the new single, it's likely to be a previously unreleased song, which would omit Black, What the Hell Did I Say, and Pick Up. The other new song he's performing on tour is Freedom, which also has merchandise tied to it; I expect that for single two, and Black for single three.

I mean I can see "Freedom" but what would previously being on iTunes have to do with "Pick Up" or "What The Hell Did I Say" getting an hourly deal with radio on Friday? The album is out that day anyway. Not like radio would have some exclusive window. All three are likely hits. I guess "Freedom" could be the pick but I don't expect it to be because it was previously unrelease. Moreso that it fits with summertime feelings of freedom and road trips, holidays and all of that (but so does "Pick Up" in many ways).

The album is out that day anyway. Not like radio would have some exclusive window. An unheard song would still make more sense. Just because the album is out the same day won't matter -- the majority of listeners would still have never heard the song, outside of die-hard Dierks fans or night owls who stay up to preview the album. I seriously doubt it'll be one we've heard already, if it does get hourly treatment, which I'm banking on. There's also the small possibility of a Thursday debut.

Just don't think it matters at all whether a song was a track available before Friday or not.

Just don't think it matters at all whether a song was a track available before Friday or not. If you had a choice, would you put out a song early that you know will be the second single? Or one that hasn't been heard because it's something you're saving for a radio debut? Probably the latter; that's what I was getting at. Now watch my theory go up in smoke as "Black" hits radio this week.

I still maintain that they'll go with something with tempo, and it will be a song he's already doing in the live show, which leaves What the Hell and Freedom. His camp has reservations about sending a word with "hell" so prominently used out, so I'm still going with Freedom.
Black will get released for sure, I just don't see radio being happy about it being for summer.

They may have to go 5 singles deep to get "Black" out as I see a duet being third with tempo (next summer being 4th). sabre14, I know what you're saying. I just don't see the need to "premiere an unknown" if it was released early. a majority of those that listen to radio have never heard any of the songs other than "Somewhere..." And other labels have released preview singles as a follow-up (Cole Swindell comes to mind).

Pick Up isn't even part of the conversation, and I don't see him reworking his live show setlist three weeks in to accommodate a different single than what he's already playing. I see Black third, duet fourth, then whatever fifth.

If I were picking singles, "Pick Up" would be the one but what the hell do I know? I know how much artists like to keep the same set of songs night after night.

I get what you're saying too; there's just an element of surprise and intrigue that labels still like to do whoever possible, especially with a star like Dierks. There were rumors they felt uneasy with word of "Somehere On A Beach's" title and release date leaking. I do think that way too much importance is put on keeping upcoming singles secret. We saw "Dibs" be played on The Highway for months before being sent to terrestrial radio and it still went to #1.

I have it on good authority that this is a standout track, so I'm pretty excited.
Duets sure seem trendy.

I enjoyed Elle King's recent album, so I'm optimistic this will sound good. They're voices seem like a decent match.

I forget that people haven't heard these songs yet. I have it on good authority that this is a standout track, so I'm pretty excited. Duets sure seem trendy. It's very good. Could pave the way for "America's Sweetheart" and other Elle King singles at country too. EDITED To add this from my review about the song: It’s fairly likely that Dierks will release one of the two songs featuring female guests and while “I’ll Be The Moon” might be smart for next spring, “Different For Girls” would make for a great single at any point, especially with the lyrics about how the fairer sex feels emotions in different ways than most every guy does.
