167. COSKA - SunstruckPK: 41Wks: 7Album: "Sunstruck" singleTrack: 1Genre: SynthpopAnother song with a massive 80's synthpop vibe made an appearance on my chart this year. This would have gone higher, but I had another song in my top 10 with a very similar melody and with duo female vocals; called "Tantalized".

166. Demi Lovato - I Will Survive
PK: 41Wks: 8Album: Angry Birds Move soundtrackTrack: 2Genre: Disco cover (Gloria Gaynor song)No year end chart of mine would be complete without at least one Demi Lovato song. This was from Angry Birds Movie soundtrack. While it wasn't vocally enormous as Gloria Gaynor's original; Demi still had the pipes to dish out a decent cover that musically also sounded very 1979. All the vids have a picture of a bird, so I opted for this one with her wearing that Angry Birds dress on the screen.

165. The 1975 - Somebody Else PK: 40Wks: 5Album: I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of ItTrack: 10Genre: Indie PopThis band is easily one of my favorites of the 2010's. I've charted every single of theirs' and then some.. This was the 4rth single I charted from the album with a ridiculously long title. It's also the most Pop sounding song I've seen them chart on Alt. Ironically it will become their biggest on the chart as well. For me; it became one more top 40 hit on my charts. I also really enjoy making up my fan made covers for their songs.

164. CRX - Ways To Fake ItPK: 39Wks: 5Album: New SkinTrack: 1Genre: Power PopAt just 5 short weeks on my chart; This song is quickly becoming one of my new favorite songs of 2017. The song's hook; reminds me of songs; from ,The Cars and Cheap Trick. Also songs like "Stacey's Mom"; which was my #1 song of that year. It's also a Nick Valenci; project and The Strokes are always top notch music;too.

163. Brave Girls - High Heels (K-Pop)PK: 35Wks: 3Album: High HeelsTrack: 1Genre: K-Pop
One of the Genres; Ive been getting into these last few years is K-pop, but only certain female sung songs; where the girls' vocals are in sync and the music sounds very 80's. The is one of those songs; that just gets me pumping (no pumps pun intended). The melody, the high vocals and the videos remind me of those Sweet Sensation, Cover Girls vids of the 80's. The songs videos are a bit different, but Sexy and classy. Not offensive. The video I'm posting; is more for the guys than the girls. This one doesn't feature any guys. Just girls. The cover art is also an original creation of mine. The original cover art doesn't feature the group.

162. Pop Evil - If Only For NowPK: 36Wks: 5Album: UpTrack: 6Genre: Hard Rock Power BalladThis band is a hit or miss for me. This is the first song I'm charting from ; last year's "Up". It has everything to do with the fact; that it falls under the term "Power Ballad". Being an avid lover of the "Hard Rock Power Ballad", this song will find it's way onto my top 10 come early 2017. Maybe even a future #1?

161. Volbeat - The Devil's Bleeding Crown PK: 40Wks: 10Album: Seal the Deal & Let's BoogieTrack: 1Genre: Groove Metal(love that genre name)The Number One song of Active Rock Chart 2016. This became; the band's, second ;Top 40 song, on my charts.

160. TeamMate - Girls With Boys NamePK: 40Wks: 10Album: The Sequel - EP Track: 2Genre: Indie Synth PopWhat's the best thing to do when you've dated a girl for 10 years and then break up? Start a band. That's just what TeamMate did. This is another song; I discovered on Soundcloud. I instantly fell for that hook at the intro. Good strong vocals and a killer synth solo and the band scored their first Top 40 hit on my charts.

159. Andrew Watt - Ghost In My HeadPK: 38Wks: 8Album: Ghost In My Head E.P.Track: 2Genre: RockAside from Indie Pop; there was also a lot of great rock music released this year; as you will see more and more appear on my year end chart as the numbers get smaller. Andrew Watt is a first timer on my chart with this Blusey Rocker that was also a big hit on The Active Rock charts.

158. Grace Mitchell - NoLoPK: 37Wks: 8Album: Raceday - EP (2015)Track: 2Genre: Indie PopOne of the most danceable; Indie Pop ,songs of the year. This one; just missed ;the Actual ,Alt ,charts, but became; a first time ,top 40 hit for Grace Mitchell ;on my chart ,and a big ;club hit, where I live. I also always wondered why they chose such drab looking cover art; for such an uptempo song?

157. Wild Belle - Giving Up On YouPK: 38Wks: 10Album: DreamlandTrack: 6Genre: Psychedelic PopHere is another great song that had that unmistakenable 80's New Wave vibe to it. Everytime I hear it; I recall; the band, Romeo Void. Even the horns section is pure 80's.

156. Steven Tyler - Red ,White and YouPK: 38Wks: 11Album: We're All Somebody from SomewhereTrack: 11Genre: Country RockSteven Tyler goes Country probably wasn't the best music I've heard from him, but this first single really caught my attention; more than anything, for his vocal delivery; which always prove satisfying to my ears. ..and like all Rockers dipping their feet in heartland Country territory; he pays ode to Tom Petty.

155. Strange Names - TrespassingPK: 35 (2 weeks)Wks: 7Album: Use Your Time WiselyTrack: 8Genre: Indie PopThese guys sound quite a bit like the 1975. I discovered this song on Youtube, and fell for the New Wave beat; at the song's, intro. Very 80's? yes, but also incredible vocal works

154. Simple Plan - Opinion OverloadPK: 36Wks: 8Album: Taking One for the TeamTrack: 1Genre: Power Pop PunkI'm probably one of the few members who charted Simple Plan this year. You will be seeing a lot of icons from yesteryear; as the numbers get smaller too. I was a big fan of Simple Plan's; early, 2000's songs, and this song ;sounded like it could've been released, in 2004. I really liked that about the song.

153. Fitz and the Tantrums - Hand ClapPK: 38Wks: 12Album: Fitz and the TantrumsTrack: 1Genre: Indie Pop (former) Neo-SoulO.k. I know; I've given this song a lot of grief; by renaming it "HandJob" and so on.. The truth is; it did spend; 3 months on my chart ,and became a top 40 hit. The problem with that was; that up until this song; Fitz and The Tantrums were a #1 ;sure fire, Neo Soul; band that twice managed to get the #1 song on my year end charts. Now they are another Indie Pop band with nice Top 40 hits. So far; the new album; fares ok with me; with possibly 3 more songs finding their way onto my charts. becoming Top 10s is another feet all together. Another thing ;I won't be showcasing is that video with those hooded dancing clowns. They are a band, not just two memebers, so enjoy the "hand" one more time. I did make; a nice cover art to show my appreciation; though.

152. Empire of The Sun - High and Low PK: 32Wks: 6Album: Two VinesTrack: 2Genre: Indie PopAnother song; that got a late start on my chart, but is sure to continue climbing in 2017; is the new single from Empire of The Sun. Not sure is they sing about a chick named "Alice Dee" or "L.S.D.), but I won't hold that against the song, since it gets me high in a musical sense...and yes; more fan art to show my love for the song.

151. Nickelback - Dirty LaundryPK: 35Wks: 8Album: "Dirty Laundry" singleTrack: 1Genre: Hard Rock cover of Don Henley songRegrettably; the only Nickelback, single, in my chart, this year. This was a cool hard rocking cover; of the Don Henley, classic, but the synths made ;the original song, what it is. Classic Rock. I love Nickelback, but when it's original work, even more. the good news is; the band is working on a new record.

175. Swiss Lips - Cheetah That's quite the cover art!Wow! Had no idea these guys were still around. I did, however, see that Scorpions, Def Leppard, Anthrax and Cheap Trick (and their drummer Bun E Carlos solo project) released music this year. You'll see 5 of my top 150 are from three of these bands.

Also a lot of hard rock that sounds like 80's from many Swedish AOR revival bands too.

150. Rick Springfield - Light This Party Up PK: 36Wks: 10Album: Rocket ScienceTrack: 1Genre: Country RockLet's start off tonight with a song; from another 80's icon. Like Steven Tyler; Rick Springfield's, latest album is also leaning more towards, Heartland Country, than Pop Rock, but there are a few songs that click with me. I like this one most for the heavier guitars and "cowbell"; as opposed to the banjos of the other songs on the album. It also surprised me that it was released under Frontiers records; since that label is more into the AOR revival.

149. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Go Robot PK: 31Wks: 5Album: The GettawayTrack: 7Genre: Alternative RockThe Red Hot Chili Peppers; are another good thing about the 90's and I'm always on board when they release new material. Anthony, Flea and the rest make some of the best Alternative Rock with groovy funk vibe to it; that's pretty hard to resist. "Go Robot" is another one of those songs with a groovy vibe. Very danceable and catchy. At just 5 weeks on my chart ; it will be back for round two in 2017.

148. The Shelters - Rebel Heart PK: 36Wks: 11Album: The Shelters LPTrack: 1Genre: Indie RockTom Petty produced; this was a really great song with a cool video to go along. Really sounded like earyly Tom petty and The Heartbreakers. You would think; with all the "payloa" Warner Bros. dished out this year; they would have set a little aside for this song to ;at least push it into the top 20. It has potential. At least; my favorite Alt staion; 91x, gave it heavy rotation.

147. Citizens! - TroublePK: 36Wks: 14Album: European SoulTrack: 7Genre: Indie synthpop(Neo-Soul)This song immediatly jumped at me for it's Hall and Oates similarities. Especially the song "One On One". It also reminded me a lot of my #1 song of a few years back from Fitz and The Tanatrums; called, "6:am" Therefore I'm giving the genre name "Neo Soul", because I need; at least ,one good ;Neo-Soul, song on this chart. It's also one that stuck around from 2016 and got some nice chart action for 14 big weeks.

145. Ladyhawke - A Love SongPK: 36(3 weeks)Wks: 12Album: Wild ThingsTrack: 1Genre: Synthpop...and here she is again. I actually charted both her singles at the same time and could have combines them in one slot, but I believe all songs deserve their special ranking. This one was way more uptempo; compared to the mellow vibe of "Sweet Fascination". I've actually been contemplating of bringing this song back for round two in 2017, because I have recently been giving it; massive Foobar spins again. It was also sent to the actual Alternative format, but didn't do so well.

I think I actually peaked it at around the same slot as did Billboard? very catchy track, but I actually have other songs on my charts with similar vibes that I liked better.

143. New Order - RestlessPK: 32Wks: 8Album: Music CompleteTrack: 1Genre: New WaveThis was a late; 2015 ,entry, into my charts and rolled over into 2016. It sounded more like 90's New order; than 80's, but it was a great track, and the vocal works ;were, still amazing, as always... The artwork is the original, but with an Indie twist.
