12. Disturbed - The LightPeak: 1 (2 weeks) Wks: 25Album: ImmortalizedTrack: 5 Genre: Heavy MetalThis number one song from my chart really captured the style I like from Disturbed. Is is highly melodic, and has a bit of a Power ballad theme to it, andt if you listen close; you can also pick up a bit of a Creed vibe. In particular from the song "My Sacrifice". This is also the highest ranking Metal song on my year end chart.

11. Broods - FreePeak: 1 (3 weeks) Wks: 25Album: ConsciousTrack: 1 Genre: Indie PopThose who know me; know how much I enjoy Broods songs. In particular; Georgia Notts' vocals. She really shows off those strong, high octane ,vocals; on this song. This song just misses my Top 10 of the year, by a fraction of a hair, but after listening to their entire, new, album; I've had my ear on the track; "Are You Home", so expect more of Broods in 2017.

The Top songs of 2016 are up next. I can tell you that only 5 of these songs charted on actual Alt and Rock. The other 5 are untapped indie that really blew my mind this year. Onlt those who know me really well; might guess my number one song, but even that might come to a shock? So without further waiting. Here they go.. 10. Soviet - Ghosts Peak: 1 Wks: 28Album: GhostsTrack: 3 Genre: New WaveThis one ,like "Tantalized" has a strong 80's vibe, but more of a New Wave than Pop; one. If you'r a fan of OMD, Erasure and Pet Shop Boys , than get ready for Soviet. Almost 30 weeks on my chart, with one at #1. This one really took me back to 1983.

9. Atlas Genius - Molecules Peak: 1 (1 for 12 weeks in 2015)(stayed on chart till April 2016)Wks: 41Album: Inanimate ObjectsTrack: 2 Genre: New WaveBy now; everyone knows this was my #1 song of 2015. I don't usually bring songs back unless they peak higher, but this song went on to spend 41 weeks on my chart and was still going strong until April 2016. After dropping to #2; it spent about as much time in the top 5 as it did at #1, so here it is back for one more year. Only one other song has done that on my year end charts and that would be "Let's Go" from The Cars. It rolled into 1980 from the 1979 chart.

8. PHASES - Betty Blue Peak: 1 Wks: 29Album: For LifeTrack: 2 Genre: SynthpopPhases and fever High are two of a kind. The style of "Tantalized" and this song are very much alike. This is the style That really like when it comes to Indie Synthpop. I ended up liking this song even more that their first song; "I'm In Love With My Life" "Betty Blue" also has a great Synth Solo which to me is an equivalent to a great Guitar solo in a rock song.

7. Cheap Trick - When I Wake Up TomorrowPeak: 1 (4 weeks) Wks: 26Album: Bang, Zoom, Crazy...HelloTrack: 3 Genre: RockHopefully no one forgot what I said about meeting up with Cheap Trick again? Cheap Trick are one of my Fvaorite 70's bands that really became famous in the 80's. Others; would be, Foreigner, Kiss and The Cars. Here is Cheap Trick with the song; that I think is one of best Rock songs of the year. It captures perfectly the band's brand of Power ballads. This song spent a whole month atop of my weekly top 50 and would have been one of the late 80's biggest pop songs as well.

6. St. Lucia - Dancing On Glass
Peak: 1 (4 weeks) Wks: 28Album: MatterTrack: 3 Genre: SynthpopHere is a band that came out of nowhere and raced straight up to the top of my weekly charts. This was also a big hit on the Alternative charts and one of the top songs on the untapped Indie charts of 2015. It's amazing that this is a one man band. I can just imagine he was inspired from all the top New Wave bands of the 80's. Human League, New Order, Depeche Mode, etc.... This song also gets the honor as most good feeling uptempo song of the year, from your's truly.

5. The 1975 - Love MePeak: 1 (4 weeks) Wks: 28Album: I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of ItTrack: 2 Genre: Pop RockDid the clue help. If so then you guessed it? It's the 1975 with their fourth and my so far all time favorite song from them yet; "Love Me". The INXS like guitars really made me love this one over their other prior singles. Other favorite parts of the songs are the yeah's and oh's during the song. In fact; The 1975 are most likely my Favorite Poprock band from Britain right now. The icing on the cake is the MV; which is pure 80's candy.

4. Def Leppard - DangerousPeak: 1 (4 weeks) Wks: 29Album: Def LeppardTrack: 2 Genre: Hard RockHere is the 3rd entry from another British band. This time it the iconic; Def Leppard. At one point higher in weeks on chart; they top The 1975's "Love Me". "Dangerous" is the most "Pyromania" sounding song on the album. It has one of those guitar hooks that made "Photograph" such a huge hit in 1983.

3. Green Day - Bang Bang
Peak: 1 (6 weeks) Wks: 19Album: Revolution RadioTrack: 2 Genre: Alternative RockWith all the love I give to the 80's; I also loved certain things about the 90's. This band was one of those. "Revolution Radio" is Green Day's 12th album and they sound stronger than ever with this first single. "Bang Bang" ;immediately caught my attention, and rose to the top of my charts rather quickly. It's been on my weekly Top 50 one week shy of 20, but at 6 weeks at #1; it easily guarantees a slot on my top 3 songs of the year. This is also my favorite Alternative song of 2016. I; for one, expect another banner year for the band in 2017.

2. Def Leppard - Let's Go Peak: 1 (7 weeks) Wks: 33Album: Def LeppardTrack: 2 Genre: Glam Metal
This is the highest ranking song from Def Leppard's newest album. It started Climbing my chart in 2015 and peaked early 2016 at #1 for 7 straight weeks. This is my biggest Rock song of 2016. This song sounded like a lost track off of "Hysteria". In particular "Pour Some Sugar On Me" ; which was their big #1 hit. The new album has songs that sound like Def Leppard music from all eras and they will surely return in my 2017 charts.

1. Freeweights - Livin' In A Studio
Peak: 1 (7 weeks) Wks: 24Album: TBA Track: 1 Genre: FreeweightsYes this is my #1 song of 2016. It's an addictive IndiePop song; sounding a lot like the Sophistipop stlye of Naked Eyes, Go West and Human League in the year 1986. They are still new to the Music scene , so far they are just releasing singles, but they so perfectly capyute that vibe. Even the vocals styles has those George Michael tones of "Careless Whisper" This song is also still on my weekly Top 10 and at just 24 weeks on the chart; it would seem that "Let's Go" with 33 weeks , should be the #1 song of the year. The reason I didn't give "let's Go" the 2016 number 1 slot is quite simple. While "let's Go" is a great song; it isn't as super as Def Leppards 80's singles, and the only time Def lepprd has scored my #1 song on a year end chart; was 1983, with "Photograph". With that in mind; The Freeweights; could also easily surpass 33 weeks before they fall off the chart ,and besides; "Livin' In A Studio" is one of my favorite Indie Pop songs of the least few years. The band deserves the Number 1 slot on someones year end chart ,and I'm happy to say it's my #1 song of 2016.

Awesome countdown! Loved it!Wow - yes a very 80s synthpop/new wave feel to this one!9. Atlas Genius - Molecules Was a big one on my 2015 list!7. Cheap Trick - When I Wake Up Tomorrow The more I see it charted on Pulse, the more I listen to it, the more it grows on me. I loved "No Direction Home" from the same album!5. The 1975 - Love Me 4. Def Leppard - Dangerous Also on my 2016 list!2. Def Leppard - Let's Go Wow - sounds like a song right off of Adrenalize!1. Freeweights - Livin' In A Studio Whoa this really is straight out of mid 1980s! I hear ABC, Cutting Crew, OMD, Information Society, etc. And I hear a touch of Rick Astley in the vocals. It reminds me of a ton of those long forgotten synthpop songs that get dug up every week on Sirius' VJ Big 40 on the 80s channel!
