Still not technically a single, but it's #2 in the UK midweeks after debuting there last week with 20k lead so far over #3 (COTH).
This is nowhere near Sing and Don't for me for his upbeat tracks (or even Drunk really), and certainly nowhere near as outward sonically as them (especially the former) even with the jig stuff, but it's a crucial part of the album imo given its tempo and one of the natural centerpieces.

Besides COTH this is my favorite off the album. Glad this is doing so well already! Pls push this first and save Perfect for later.

My 3rd favorite song in the album after SOY & Eraser. Really hoping they will release it as a single!

Debutted at #1 here in Ireland. I'm already hearing it on the radio, could potentially be the biggest hit of the year for him as it's something that will be eaten up by Irish people. I can see it working in the UK, but I doubt it would do much in the US

Not officially confirmed as the next single (same as "How Would You Feel (Paean)", which was delivered to UK radio through HitDisc some weeks ago), but Lee Thompson, the Music Editor of Record of the Day, mentioned that BBC Radio 1 and Capital FM has added this on their upcoming playlists.

Ed confirmed on twitter it's the next single. I am assuming that it's the next UK single?

Ed confirmed on twitter it's the next single. I am assuming that it's the next UK single? He didn't specify. I'm guessing the US will probably get a "Castle" push for a bit and see how that works out but I think Galway might be coming for the summer in US also.. and then Perfect for the fall

This is probably my favorite on the album along with COTH so I'm happy it's being released as a single!

I'd be surprised if this were a single in the US tbh, though if anyone has the power to pull of a (considerably) heavy Irish sound on pop, it's Ed (and probably Adele, let's be real). I think it could do well but it would surprise me that that risk would be taken when Thinking Out Loud 2a or 2b are options still.

Awesome that he confirmed it on Twitter because I really love the Irish flavour on it and on Nancy!

This is definitely coming in the US. It's still massive on iTunes and streaming. And with ed in the good graces of radio and the masses, this is the time to release a risk to radio because regardless of quality, the next pushed ed single is an easy top 20. They need to do a castle push for April Then this in late may. And perfect for end of summer viral wedding videos and to take us through the winter

Ed confirmed on twitter it's the next single. I am assuming that it's the next UK single? That's right. Everything is pointing out that it's the next overseas single while the US will get "Castle on the Hill". However, "Galway Girl" is getting some airplay in the US too and I'm wondering if Atlantic is going to make the switch, so this is the reason why I moved this thread back to here. As a side note, it should be mentioned that "Castle on the Hill" hasn't been confirmed as the next US single, aside being as Cool New Music on AllAccess, so I assume that there should be an announcement in the following days which one is going to be properly pushed in the States.

Castle On The Hill please please please
If they push Galway Girl in the US now, then COTH is dead.

This is easily one of my favorites from the album too. I would love it if it would be the next single. I would love for this to open the door for more Celtic influences in music. The Corrs and Clannad could make a comeback.

The Corrs and Clannad could make a comeback. The Corrs have come back .They put out an album called "White Light" in 2015 and theyΒ΄ve been recording a new one already. I loved that Ed used some of their influence on it and on Nancy. ;)

It's definitely worth noting that "Galway Girl" is still #14 on US Spotify, higher than any other track besides obviously "Shape of You." It also quite the margin over the other album tracks. "Castle on the Hill" is #25, but "Perfect" is all the way down at #44. It's also #81 on iTunes behind two versions of "Shape of You," "Castle on the Hill," and "Perfect." I honestly doubt that it would have any trouble becoming a smash worldwide and not just in Europe. "Galway Girl" also has over 71 million streams on Spotify already, placing it as the third most streamed track from the album behind the two singles.
Shape of You - 563.1m Castle on the Hill - 256.8m Galway Girl - 71.5m How Would You Feel - 52.9m Perfect - 50.0m Happier - 47.2m Dive - 43.6 New Man - 41.4m What Do I Know? - 38.7m Supermarket Flowers - 33.3m Barcelona - 32.7m Eraser - 30.6m Hearts Don't Break Around Here - 30.13m Nancy Mulligan - 30.12m Bibbia Be Ye Ye - 25.7m Save Myself - 24.3m
Though, I have to admit, I prefer "Nancy Mulligan" and wish it was the one receiving the attention.

Galaway Girl has been added by KHKS, WHTZ, KBFF and WDZH. This could be an "AYO"/"Million Reasons" situation. "Castle on a Hill" is clearly struggling on pop, only getting a +2 today. While Castle on a Hill might be played by WWMX, Hits 1 or another hot AC-oriented CHR even if Galaway Girl is indeed the next single, I think Castle on a Hill is indeed more of a hot AC/mainstream AC/triple A single. They could try COTH later, after Shape of You goes recurrent.
Should this thread get moved to CHR/Pop as it is indeed showing support?

I really can't see this working in the US but I'm prepared to be surprised. Knocked down to #2 in Ireland by Shape Of You

Iβm surprized the Billboard Music Awards aired a live performance of this rather than βHappierβ tonight.
