My local Starbucks has "Bridges" in the playlist. It's a hidden gem. Too bad this era ended up being a complete mess.

Are we expecting a new album this semester? they have not recorded anything as a group since the album release. they have taken January off and are currently doing solo projects . Normani is releasing a song with Khalid in March and Ally has a song this coming week with the DJ Topic. starting February 26th -March 18th they have alot of shows with all but the last one outside the US.

Every time I see this thread bumped now I hold my breath, thinking it's a "hiatus" announcement.
Ideally I'd like them all to do some solo stuff this year and then return to the group for the next album in 2019 [on another label], but realistically if even just one of them takes off on her own it's probably a done deal.

I'm hoping Strangers is the next Halsey single so Lauren gets a bit of success.
I don't think we'll get much news until they fulfill all their tour dates, but then it gets interesting. Their last deal was for just one more album (their self-titled), so the label would have to negotiate a new deal and I'm not sure they'll even bother. They treated them like crap this era.

I was a hardcore stan of this group but ever since Camila left, the spark of the group left.
It seemed like the label shafted the 4 girls with just a standard 10 track album with two songs that were the only ones single worthy (Down and He Like That). Both tracks weren't strong enough to garner the success they've previously seen. It was downhill from there.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the album and thought it was really good but it wasn't as good as their first two albums. The 4 of them needed to come back swinging. They really desperately needed a Work From Home or Worth It more than ever.
The label didn't care and some of the stans stopped caring. I hope they just disband before it becomes painful to watch. They should all just focus on solo careers and call it a day.
They had 3 albums and an EP and that's pretty good for a group from a 3 season cancelled reality show with low ratings. Grab the cash and run away.

It's funny though because Down, He Like That, Angel, and Make You Mad are better than 2/3 of Camila's album.

Normani and Lauren are the ones I'm most excited about going solo, way more than Camila. I have a feeling that Lauren will be the one to bring something interesting and new into the current pop landscape.

Still overall under Sony but that would still be a major move.

YESSSSSS. I have been intrigued by Lauren Jaguaraduchi ever since she teamed up with Halsey. I will pay attention to what she does going forward. Not really sure about the others. Normani could be a person of interest, given she has the right producers behind her.

Yeah those are the only other 2 I'm curious about. Not sure if either have "radio voices" but I do find them both interestng so I want to see what they've got.

We will find out soon enough about Normani because her collaboration with Khalid Love Lies for the Love, Simon soundtrack will be released in March. Her management also had her at the best events during Grammy weekend. I could see the group transferring over to Roc Nation management after their current deal is up.

They need to bow out gracefully as a group. They had a few cute bops even if some flopped. Now, they need to work on getting everyone to know their individual names. Shame that the first solo offering from Normandi we get is a duet with Billy Goat Throat.

Well Normani is probably the one with the most mainstream visibility just because of Dancing With the Stars. Plus she has a low key following among black folks so if she comes correct she might be able to get a little something going for herself. She easily has the best performance skills of the group so there's that.
Lauren is stunning looking with those eyes and dating a celebrity never hurts. She also seems to have an actual personality so I'm intrigued.

Lauren is my fave and I'm excited to see what she brings, even if her collabs so far haven't been great. Normani did creep up on several social media posts through the weekend so her team is doing something right.

I wish Lauren's collaborating with Steve Aoki, "All Night", would have done well on Pop radio. It seems tailor-made for it.

I feel like Normani is the easiest sell of the four because it's so easy to see what type of artist she can and should be, and urban is still the strongest streaming genre so a great banger can go a long way. 5H's pop presence is light as a feather, but it's still 100 times more than what any other female r&b singer so she has built-in crossover potential as well that female r&b singers usually lack. With Lauren going to Columbia, I am a bit concerned that 'Mani will either stay with Epic (who might not fully support her b/c they see her as competition to Camila when they shouldn't) or go to RCA (who are honestly just terrible when it comes to launching female r&b singers, and I can't even recall the last time they took on a new pop artist) but if she can find herself in a place with full support she should do well.
Lauren is intriguing b/c she's the most diverse; there's seriously no such thing as a 'bad' sound for her. But there's always a lurking danger in the music or image seeming all over the place because the label just wants to throw things at the wall to see what sticks. Columbia's the strongest of all the Sony labels and a good look as long as they figure out early on what her brand/lane is and don't try to make her all things to all people.
Lawd, I just don't know about Ally and Dinah. Aside from lacking the hype Laurmani have, they also don't seem to be making the connections those two are (Dinah seems to have even less than Ally), and that is by far the most important thing to have. The right team can build a look and a presence for you, but these two don't have a team behind them right now.

@antigonerising HIATUS is all but confirmed at this point. Normani is 30% done with her solo record and they just cancelled the Australian dates for their tour. They aren't breaking up, but they are all pursuing music outside of the group with Lauren and Normani already having solo deals on the table.

Welp, guess I can exhale now. Best of luck to all of them! I'm guessing Normani's album launch will kick off with the Khalid duet. Is word out on which label her deal is with?

Honestly their performance with this last album is upsetting
It's their best imo Angel, Deliver, Bridges, Lonely Night, DSYLM, & He Like That are all bops Angel, Deliver, & He Like That being all time faveds from them
Down was a album killer though, not bad but super lackluster.
Lauren & Normani have made good solo efforts too (Strangers, All Night, & Love Lies) Hell, kinda also sucks that they made their best 2 music videos for this album too with Down & HLT
I love Camila's solo work too
But 5H is being slept on so hard this time around, which does rise up worries, but I don't think they'll disband anytime soon Hiatus yes

Don’t they have one more album in their contract? I think they deserve one more shot. No mid tempos though, they need to come back hard. Maybe throw out a couple songs on streaming and see which one gets a positive response, worked for Camila
I’ve been yearning for a “dilemma” or “I’m real(remix)” type of urban duet to smash for a long time now, I think 5H can pull it off with some big name rapper.

They had two albums with an option for the third (which was this most recent one) I think.
