This is just my opinion...
I don't think we should feel she is compelled to say anything or speak out. She's a singer, not a politician. In the past, she's made it clear she doesn't really want to be involved with the political side of things. When she has made comments (re: gay marriage) she's been met with equal amounts of praise and criticism.
In any case. Regardless of who it is, I've always felt like it's kind of tacky for celebrities to be making headlines for their political opinions. When I share my political opinions on Twitter/Facebook, I don't make headline news. Why should it be different for these celebrities? Again, especially something like with George Floyd, I think we all know what her views are. Is her tweeting about it going to change anyone's mind? Like for real?
As far as spreading awareness...this is all over the news. I really don't think a tweet from Carrie Underwood is going to raise more awareness than what's already out there.

She's a singer, not a politician. Yikes. When she has made comments (re: gay marriage) she's been met with equal amounts of praise and criticism. And look at how many fans she lost because of that. *Looks left, looks right.* Huh. When I share my political opinions on Twitter/Facebook, I don't make headline news. Why should it be different for these celebrities? ...because she's a celebrity and you're not. They are naturally amplified, which is why it's important for people of public figure to voice their concerns & aggravations if they choose. And I've recognized that not being CU's style historically, but everything happening right now is not same ol', same ol'. In the same capacity that it was important for her to voice her support of the LGBTQ+ community 3 years before it was legalized in the US, it's important for her (especially as a white woman) to voice her support with the people pushing back on violence against the black community. (Let's think about how many new fans she made from that + how big it was for country music to have their biggest star be an advocate for something progressive and, in the genre's case, completely radical. In a very similar vein, today's issues could apply, too.) As far as spreading awareness...this is all over the news. I really don't think a tweet from Carrie Underwood is going to raise more awareness than what's already out there. Literally nobody said her tweeting would be good to help "spread awareness." Even the Amish are protesting; everyone knows what's going on. To clarify, I am not sitting here saying "Carrie Underwood needs to condemn the cops and save us from racism." If that's how you're construing it, then you're not getting it. I'm saying it's a responsibility to those with microphones (or in the cases of superstars with literal tens of millions of followers like CU, megaphones) to use them.

It’s more about standing up as an ally, not bringing awareness.
No one wants Carrie or any celebrity to be the initiators or movement-starters, but movements need allies, and celebrities are powerful allies.
It’d be nice simply to hear that Carrie is an ally... from her.
But I’d never expect her to and I understand completely why she doesn’t. It’s not her job or obligation, she didn’t sign up for it for sure. But when there’s such a clear divide between right and wrong, it’d be nice to have someone like Carrie align herself on the right side of history vocally.

I don't think any celebrities are obligated to make comments about what's going on in the world. Whether it's about Trump or police brutality.
I'm sure they watch the news as we all do. If you have anything of value to add, then speak your mind and express your condolences. It is not a requirement.

Let me clarify my last post a little bit. - While I agree Carrie making a statement might be powerful, I don't think we are "entitled" to hearing her make a statement on it. I also think, if she says something even close to the wrong thing, it could be misinterpreted. Having said that, I acknowledge that I read through the last page of posts pretty quickly and interpreted posts the wrong way.
- Personally, I feel any statement Carrie makes isn't going to change people's minds. A more powerful thing for her to do would be to donate to post bail for protestors, like Harry Styles is doing. I guess I just feel like every celebrity seems to be tweeting something about it, but...those are just words, ultimately.
- I also want to reiterate these are just my opinions/thoughts. I acknowledge that ultimately, my opinions are worth very little in this instance.

... I am at a loss of words at what is happening in the US, watching from afar how the country deteriorate and having all its illnesses exposed in the past few years, especially in 2020. Just want to say to all fellow Carrie fans in the US: please stay safe! :'(

Posting this here because it’s kind of relevant to yesterday’s discussion. This is what would be nice to see from more country stars, and celebrities in general. Again, not expecting anything, it’s just nice to see. /?vh=e&d=n

Would love to see her speak up and say something about all that’s going on in the world. Obviously I adore CU, but if there’s one thing I’ve grown increasingly frustrated by, it’s her complacency on a lot of big issues that need to be acknowledged. Especially by someone in her position, who has the ears of people who need to be privy to such statements. It’s just not cute or respectable to be “neutral.” Um go listen to Love Wins. She literally could not be any louder/clearer with the message she wants to send out to the world

“Love Wins” =/= “Black Lives Matter”, “I Can’t Breathe”, or “Justice for George Floyd”.
Again, no one is asking Carrie to say any of these things, but it would be nice to see someone of her stature and reach use her voice. A song like “Love Wins” is hardly using her voice as anything more than an instrument. There’s a message there, but that message is: love overcomes everything, not: stop killing unarmed civilians.

You and me are brothers and sisters, made to be here for each other? I cringed when I first heard those lines.

I don’t have a final opinion on celebrities speaking out just wish they did.
However when the generally apolitical Disney is making statements i think the significance of supporting the black community right now can’t be understated.
Ps I love this woman and i hate country music so deff not a hater of Carrie

I stand by what I've said in here. I know Carrie has been one to stay mum about issues in the past but this one is different. It would be nice, incredible really, to hear from her lips that she's with this movement. I am not saying that she is an end all be all voice. But damnit she IS a voice. One of the biggest voices of country music. As 14887fan put it, she has a damn megaphone in her hands. It would be nice to hear her use it and speak up.

I had hoped for more (a lot more) but it's better than nothing. It’s something. I’m just glad to know where she stands, honestly, even if she never writes or says it in her own words. That in itself is important, I think.

She needs to open her purse. Do better, girl. For all we know she has already done so? Carrie is an exceptional person, and personally, I don’t think she needs to publicly announce a donation to assume that she’s doing the right thing.

She needs to open her purse. Do better, girl. I don’t think she needs to open the purse (or if she does she doesn’t need to promote it) but I would like something from her that is her own words. Not just what is the equivalent of a retweet.

She said it perfectly. “Listening and learning” is much of what the world needs right now.

I do think that was a concise statement. I still would like her to share donation links and show us that she donated (at least 1k because she's got coins), but this is a start. Also - y'all know I've been stanning since '05, but that doesn't excuse silence. Don't be dense, everybody.

The virtual Fan Club Party is happening right now. She’s performing her favorite deep cuts from each album:
Some Hearts: “That’s Where It Is” Carnival Ride: “You Won’t Find This” Play On: “Someday When I Stop Loving You” Blown Away: “Thank God for Hometowns” Storyteller: “Relapse” Cry Pretty: “That Song That We Used to Make Love To”

Thank God for Hometowns? Interesting. Other than that, she has great taste!
