hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=308665SHANIA HEADED TO #1 Based on very early reads, it looks like Shania Twain's Now (Mercury Nashville) is headed for a #1 debut. This is Twain's first studio album in 15 years. Shania is expected to score a six-figure debut, which at this point looks sufficient to surpass bows by Safehouse/Island/Hollywood's Demi Lovato and RCA's Miley Cyrus. Check back here tomorrow for updates.

I expected Cyrus to get there considering debut sales of Bangerz, but I guess the fan reception for "Malibu" killed the momentum.

Wow, that is surprising. It's kind of sad actually for Demi and Miley, that they aren't able to top an almost forgotten 90s country diva who hasn't released an album in 15 years.

What? If Shania can pull this off that would be great but I expected Miley and Demi to do similar numbers.

I personally thought that Demi could get the #1 next week. It'll be interesting to see what numbers the albums by the three artists will have tomorrow.

Ah, she's doing a ticket/album bundle. No wonder. I wonder if Elton John did that with his last record, if it would've gone to #1 instead of #8.

The bundle doesn't work like that, do some research. And shania was way ahead of those two in physical sales. Shania still has a massive fan base

You shady bitches. Shania deserves that #1 over those younger overrated chicks.

I actually didn't think she'd have the power to pull off competition given the fact none of the pre-release tracks even scraped the bubbling under chart for the Hot 100 The album is good though not as strong as Up! & Come On Over for me
Was hoping that Demi would pull off the win for once

Shania is an icon with a huge fan base still. I meant that I was more surprised that Demi and Miley, who are current artists and still relatively popular now weren't able to do better. I actually like Shania much more and am happy for her, but I don't expect this to go on to be a massive seller, especially because she's been out of the game for so long and ageism will only work strongly against her. But, her last album did do very well, and there's nothing since then to compare this release to, so we will still have to wait and see!

Considering ST 18MM selling COO peaked at #2 and her GH was 'robbed (haha)' of #1 by a moved-up Eminem release due to leaks, I don't begrudge her any #1 placement.

sorry wrong. The bundle doesn't work like that, do some research. And shania was way ahead of those two in physical sales. Shania still has a massive fan base Doesn't work like what? Concert ticket bundles boost sales and that's a fact. It is definitely true that many of the people who redeem the album from the bundle would have bought is anyway but the fact is that it's highly unlikely that ALL of them would have and it's impossible to know exactly how many would have. And Shania was way ahead in physical sales? Well clearly. And chances are Demi and Miley are way ahead of her in digital sales, so I'm not seeing the point you're making there. Although we don't have more precise numbers for Shania and basically no projections for either Miley or Demi yet, I'm not counting the latter two out. Miley's last album sold 270,000 pure first week and even though this album is clearly miles behind in terms of momentum, I can't see her being too low. Also Demi's last album debuted with 77,000 pure sales which swelled to 98,000 with SPS. I find it hard to believe that this album will sell less than that 77k in its first week. Then with Sorry Not Sorry being so big right now and the growth in streaming over these last two years I just can't see her doing less than 100,000 units. And of course we still don't know how far over 100k Shania is likely to do. Disclaimer: I'm not at all trying to bring down Shania here. I would be happy with her or Demi getting #1. I would be happy for Miley as well.

I'm not surprised Miley's is not performing that well. Who is even buying her album at this point? She waited 4 years to release new commercial music and then she alienates most of her fanbase with a big change in image and sound.

Cyrus and Lovato are both talented vocalists. No need to be a "Back In My Day!" hipster.

If Shania does end up on top, I’m gonna be totally fine. For all we know, this could be Shania’s last chance at being number one.
Miley and Demi have the rest of their young careers to earn number ones.

I can’t believe MusicMan is still trolling Internet forums. He used to be a riot at LD like twelve years ago.

I'm so happy for Shania. Miley and Demi I love both, but this is probably Shania's last album and it'd be great if she bowed out with a #1. You're Still The One alone stomps on the discographies of our beloved 'new' pop girls.

Is anyone really surprised though? Country fans still buy music/CD's and Shania, while gone for a long time, is still a country legend.

^Shania's new singles are not doing well at country radio. Only AC radio is playing her first single.
I think Demi and Miley may get iTunes discounts soon.

I think Demi is also at that point in which the tween audience can't relate to her anymore but the older audience is not that interested in her. So despite getting a few hits now and there, she still needs to establish a more solid fanbase.
